Today I'm joined by Charlie from Warlord Games to play their newest instalment for Bolt Action, the famed Market Gardens during World War II.
Unfortunately I have zero tanks today and I'm a little sad, however I'm playing the German infantry and I'm ready to go! Charlie on the other side as the American Pathfinders and each six man side holds either a Eureka device or ID Panels for some supplies and it's my job to spray bullets in everywhich way possible. Who do you think will win this piece of history?
May Hans be famed for his efforts on the battlefield.

Bolt Action is one of the best. Models, rules, game, possibilities. Been playing a couple years, we even added a few “extra” rules to make it a little better. (For us anyway) would love to share them.

Remember guys, you can’t pre-measure ranges, being assaulted forces your die out for the assaulted unit, and the “stubborn” rule only ignores pins on forced morale checks (not order checks).
He's not pre-measuring, he's declared the target unit and measuring to see what he needs to roll to hit. At some point, you _do_ have to measure range, you know?

no extra dice for Assault in V2 rules, Assault Weapons now count as tough fighters
You are right and though fighter give 1 additional attack per wound applied to your opponents

I never comment on videos but this is THE BEST bolt action video I have seen .... love the production and the fact you are doing a scenario from a campaign book .... please do more of these ... I have just subscribed... :)
the Germans might not have expected .the para drop but the allied command.knew of the two ss divisons.9th and 10 th in the drop areas and went ahead .
Erm market garden was all about capturing the bridge over the Rhine!

Really enjoyed this but I have to echo the comments of checking rules :/ the one bugbear for me (and it's because everyone I play with gets this wrong when using paras) is that stubborn only applies for morale not orders. You can break there orders with pin markers
Within the first 5 mins a tip of the hat to the 82nd. My kind of mates over the pond. (101st is A OK too, of course) Thanks for this gents.

Looked like fun. Could have had different outcome 2 or 3 times. Dice were the controlling factor, tactics were predetermined by the objectives.
Hello OnTableTop, I just discovered KonFliKt 47. Really enjoying these videos. I seen your Demo video, thinking about buying a couple starter sets and running games at my favorite Gaming store. I just want to referee the games and try to get random people involved.

Am i wrong, or do you normally lose all your pins when you fight a roundof close combat?
what is this strange smoke blast when the electriciy pylon skips over at 24:22? Looks weird.

That looked like a fun game. I need to set up that scenario soon. One thing I noticed. The number of dice for the Close Combat is incorrect, I believe. It should just be one dice for each model. Assault gets you the Tough Fighter rule which allows you to roll another dice when those models roll a hit. Your way is faster though.

Why in the world would hedges not provide a cover save? It provides concealment at the very least.
Aren't they soft cover?
Fun to watch, one thing though the Americans did a run order across a hedge and the Germans did a run order into the river. Aren't these regarding as difficult terrain that you can only advance over?
It's really up to who is playing but yeah, most people would rate hedges and rivers as difficult terrain.

Once the German player saw that his fire was less effective than the Pathfinder's, he was getting pins that were having no effect, he should have had his men take cover, and snipe at them from long range, until his reinforcements arrived. Once they were in, he should have massed at assault range, then overwhelmed the Pathfinders one unit at a time. His assaults had to go in first, whenever possible, because the Pathfinder's assaults, were just as deadly as their close range fire. Since the German's shooting dice rolls were so bad at killing the Pathfinders, their only hope was using their numbers in assaults, hoping to get more kills.

Why are you halving all the weapon ranges? @4:39 the effective range of a SMG should be 12", not 6", right? Or am I missing something?
When they say effective range, they mean half range. An smg can shoot up to 12”, but gets a -1 penalty if over 6”
Been watching a few Boltaction bat reps lately. Trying to get into the game and got a few books for it. Is there any like ‘cheese’ or ‘meta’ lists that people try to go for a lot, like 40k??
That’s one of the things (along with the shear amount of salt in the community) that took me out of 40k.

Submachine gun is assault so there is no penalty to hit when moving
German nco is kept on a 2+ also :)
I'm going to call nerves! I play Bolt Action so much and attend a number of events each year but for some reason in front of the camera I made some silly mistakes!

American player rolled crazy good dice and german player had the worst rolls ever. Surprised this scenario played as balanced as it did, seems a little unbalanced with average rolling then

I dont think you roll 2+ for smgs at 6in?
You get +1 to hit rolls if you're within 6" of the enemy, it's called point blank :)

I am going to complain...but not about your playing. With the train cars, the hopper is a modern grain hopper which was not invented anywhere until the mid 1970s.
Consider the whole game ruined D:
TheBeastsOfWar just surprised to see it is all. In the US most of the cheap old train stuff you find around that people tear apart for wargaming is fairly 1940's or 50's in appearance, built in the 80's or 90's.
Don't get me wrong, it was a fun and enjoyable battle, but that just jumped off the screen to me.

It is shameful when warlord staff dosn't know the rules of the game they are promoting.
Very first shots of the game and they're making mistakes. No movement penalty for assault waepons!

5 minutes in and first mistake. Smgs do not suffer a penalty for moving and shooting. I want to love the bat reps u do but you do need to sit down and read the rules
I could understand for some of the more complicated rules, but rules as simple and as common as "assault weapons do not suffer movement penalties to shooting" with a weapon as common as the SMG shouldn't really be forgotten, especially with how simple bolt action's rules set is to begin with. Now granted, these guys play a lot of games, so maybe it is understandable with all the mixing of the rules and stuff as to forget simple things, but still.
I love the scenario, great watch, but Jesus guys have neither of you heard of cover!!!!! If you were the guy having bullets whizzing past your ears you'd think a bit better. I know its a game FFS!!!!!
Jesus the guy playing the gears is the worst sportsman, he gets so upset whenever things don't go his way. Not just in this game but in every video I have seen of him. It makes particularly difficult watching.
