I'm new to bolt action and have seen several of your videos. I'm building germans. One thing I'd like to possibly suggest if it can be worked out, some german armor to fight with the matilda. I really enjoy your videos it's helping me learn the bolt action game.
Hi great game, thanks for sharing. If you are interested, here are your rule fubars 😆: 1. Vehicles have individual activation dice - I know you wanted the Universal Carriers to be a unit 2. You cannot shoot within 1" passed a friendly unit regardless of elevation - Vickers shooting over a blocking infantry unit 3. Hand to Hand combat - the attackers roll first and the defenders remove their dead before the survivors strike back
I find myself watching your battle reports on my big screen TVs rather then watching the network television. Thank you and congratulations on the Little Wars award but, I already congratulated you on another video of FB page.
I can’t believe how much you guys have improved in the last 3 years.......modelling, painting, basing, scenery, commentating, scenario’s, photography.......everything has improved beyond recognition, good job well done 👍 Most enjoyable !
Great work Travis. Well done on your LittleWarsTV Caesar award. Really nice briefing and descriptions of the table at the start. Nice to see how Chain of Command has influenced the way you are showing your armies and their characters.
Not sure if it was intentional or not but really appreciate the inclusion of Scot’s troops in your units. Historically the B.E.F was made up of a high proportion of Scottish units, one regiment even famously were left behind as a rear guard to try and shield the British on the beaches at Dunkirk trying to evacuate. Either way lovely detail on both armies!
Awesome game and scenario. Thanks for posting. Note: Heavy Auto Cannon has pen +3 on its AP shell choice (with no 1" blast template), which will be affected by long range, as usual. It has an HE shell choice which is pen +1 and the 1" blast template. You must choose which to fire. Note the Light Auto Cannon is the same: AP shell is pen +2, the HE shell is 1" template and pen +1. For obvious reasons, people using light auto cannons will frequently choose to fire the HE shell at anything over 24" because the AP shell would become pen +1 anyway at that range. In broad strokes, use the AP shell on lightly armored vehicles and soft skins, and the HE shells on arti, weapons teams and infantry.
Regarding the Bren sections, you need a dice 🎲 per Bren carrier and a dice 🎲 per unit inside of the carrier. I understand that you want to bring a whole squad, but what I do is buy two smaller size squads of 5 men each; thus, each one rides on a separate carrier and has its own die. In reality it adds one due to your total if you split the 10 men squad into two 5 men squad/teams. Hope that helps!
Great scenario! I love games that have some background story to them. I thought the new rules worked pretty well in the end and added some really nice flavour to the game! Congrats on the award, you guys deserve it! 🏆
Hey...I think I saw a similar scene in Band of Brothers when that Matilda drove forward. Something like: "Well I cant shoot it if I cant see it!" "Youre going to see it real well soon Mac!" Boom!!!!!
Really nice game. I enjoyed it a lot and it was quite close at the end. And the 88 whiffing against the Brens is actually quite realistic, if we consider it. The Panzergranate has so much punch (right Mathilda? ;-) ), that it just punches two neat 88mm sized holes into the Brens and that´s it. Also, if they used the HE grenade, the outcome might have been the same (two holes) as the HE grenade did not have a contact fuze and might just have exploded behind the Brens. Anyway, nice game and I would love to see the Chain of Command version of this.
It’s really good to see some early war bolt action; not many of my gaming group play early war. Much prefer the weaker tanks and at guns makes the games so much more fun.
Will you be this scenario with Chain of Command? ....Tabletop CP, Gents Many Congratulations on your much deserved Little Ceasar award, Well done to you All!👍
Great battle report as always, I love to see some early war action and additionally your Scots look wonderful, mind sharing where did you get the those kilts ? It's suprisingly hard to find any good ones
Just a nitpick as i like to use my models the way i build them, those aren't "regular" Bren carriers, they're No.2's. Basically they could only transport a driver, gunner + 1 man and were only used as infantry support vehicles during the invasion of France (most were abandoned and captured by the Germans). Not that big a deal though, great BR!
The Bren Section rule is kind of what I've been saying should be the rule for river crossing rafts. My only question is, what happens if the Bren is destroyed...does it count as a unit destroyed for vp conditions?
Just wondering 💭 why in some instances you guys only did a -1 for being down? To my understanding, it is supposed to be -2 for down. Also did you remember to use the rapid fire rule for the British? I think you did not and that would have added some additional dice 🎲 to your rolling.
Pretty cool game! Too bad the Matilda didn't do much. You need 2 of them. I missed the removal of the Universal carriers...i know one was cut in two. Is there a covering fire in BA? Could have laid down some on the 88. Would like to see a CoC version...im sure a different outcome. Again, great video work w intro and closing shots.
I’ve been watching some of your videos lately, and this is my first random post. One thing I want to mention but I’m not sure since I don’t know the game system. Isn’t the 88 Flak a heavy field piece and not a super heavy field piece. The results might have been a little different towards the Matilda…Maybe ? Joe
May have been suggested already. Leave the red die out until he used a grey die for the 88. Then after the next die is pulled out the red die into the bag? Possible solution? Idk.
The MVP was that smoke canister, carried the British. As a new player, I feel like the smoke, the super powered Brens (getting two effective orders), and the points advantage was huge... It felt a tad... unbalanced.
@@tabletopcp Do you have any video showing how you did the trees? If not, it would be great if you do one some day. Those are really nice Trees and hedges.
If I ever get a table together (I have some of the ruined buildings and walls) I'll be having the obligatory dead cows, since I picked those up at a LGS.
I know I have asked it before. But the table you made is 8x4 (playing space of 6x4) the mat is 6x4. How did you get that much over hang with the mat. The reason I ask is bc I like your use of a hill under the mat and I think I would like to do that as but I want to make sure there is enough material to do so. Thank you.

I thought you said at the beginning if the 88 was destroyed with Exceptional Damage or an overrun the British won? They overran it when they killed all the crew in melee, right?
They did. It was a judgement call. The Germans could have driven the British off and just got back on it. I should have said they had to stay on it to the end of the turn so they could spike it.
@@lordravenblade I assumed overrun meant take the hill and no Germans left when I made the mission. I never anticipated taking the 88 with Germans still hanging around able to fight.
@@tabletopcp that makes sense. I was thinking in the historical sense where they would immediately bash at whatever gears and levers and stick grenades in the breech of the gun as they finished off the crew.
I love your terrain but your complete lack of tactical nuance is somewhat strange… Who drives a tank straight down the road into an 88 ?? Come on guys, you’re better than this 😂😂😂
I'll tell you what, watching this at 3 am... the flak shooting the Matilda scared the shit out of me lol
Well we have to add some sort of large explosion from time to time to wake people up 😄
Congrats on the Caesar award!
Thanks!
I love experimenting with scenario rules - it’s what can make BA a more versatile game.
Don't say this too loudly. BA players have a hissy fit when you tell them the rules are versatile from what I've seen.

Good game. Mortar damage with target down is 1/2 rounded up so 3 is 1.5 up to 2

Hi, Just starting out with Bolt Action and really enjoying your reports. When you refer to the selectors is this the campaign books or an app?
The selectors are in the army books and the campaign books but they are also on easyarmy.com. That’s the web site I use to make lists.

The 88 anti aircraft, I thought, wasn't used in the anti tank role. Until Rommels north Africa campaign. 41-42?
No it was used as anti tank as far back as the Spanish civil war.
Where or who makes the model bren carriers used in the game???
I believe these are 3d printed
2 Bren carriers and a dream.
Marvellous game, figures and terrain. Where did you get the smoke markers?
Made them out clump foliage that was glued to a paper clip Skelton glued to a base. The regular smoke is just teddy bear stuffing.

As a new player, I feel like the smoke, the super powered Brens (getting two effective orders), and the points advantage was huge... It felt a tad... unbalanced.
How big is the playable area of the table, it looks huge and so well fixed? And where do you get those trees and shrubbery. Great videos!

Some base markers I found on eBay. They were in an old Conan bird game a while back.

These Cigar Box battle mats are huge. Well over 6x4 feet. Most of the fleece gaming mats are over 6x4 feet to allow you to place terrain under it.
