Castle Combe - Crash and Action - Combe Countdown - August 2023

- The action from what was a fairly destructive race day at Castle Combe for their penultimate (excluding the Autumn Classic) championship race day of the year. Nearly went to a different meeting but was pleasantly surprised to see some rather healthy entry lists all round that persuaded me to do this race day instead. Most grids were approaching a sum of 30, but the CSCC Swinging Sixties had to go one better and bring along an entry of 48 cars, just a shame 42 is the maximum!
Going back to my previous point about this meeting being 'destructive', we unfortunately saw our fair share of incidents at Quarry with a lot of broken cars, but most spectacular accident goes to Tony Dolley who sadly rolled his Seat Leon twice after the most unfortunate contact with a rather broken Clio! Thankfully Tony and everyone else was okay after their respective incidents.

He just doesn't like Clio's! He clashed with 3 Clio's.

This was a brilliantly put together video. It made me laugh - a lot. After 35 years of club racing and my fair share of accidents I'm entitled to laugh. Coombe was a great circuit to race at, mostly fast corners, top gear wheelspin over the rise before quarry, grass paddock (in my day), excellent restaurant (Howard eating his evening meal there), best marshalls, always big happy crowds.
That grey R53 has got a bit of learning to do lol

This video reminds of the olden days at Combe! Loads of action at Quarry! Hope this is a sign that the circuit will be returning to its glory days. Great video!

Perfect examples of why I never wanted to do racing; you are always relying on everyone else being able to stay in control. Several cases of drivers having damaging accidents through others mistakes.
Was an epic day
That was certianly an eventful day to say the least, including the long oil spill after the quarry from one race and one instance of aggresive overlapping in the CCRC Saloon championship.
Was wondering how Fisher and Cooper took each other out on the first formula ford race.
Yh same here with the ff. was quite amusing being sat round the outside of quarry seeing the two cars come spinning up avonrise though

I wouldn't allow any of our cars out in the saloon series.
