    FUN FACT: The title "Resurrection" was going to be the name of the post-WW3 shanty town in Montana, and also alluding to the idea that Earth was picking itself up after a global conflict. It got changed because of a certain woeful Alien movie. (It's ok, I know some people like it, I'm not having a go)

    • @matthewbowen5841
      @matthewbowen5841 3 года назад +5

      They misspelled "Resurrection" on that schematic.

    • @achtsekundenfurz7876
      @achtsekundenfurz7876 3 года назад

      I noticed that before the arrow pointed to it (I paused to look at the size of C, D, and E) and before I noticed that it was a different word (Re- vs. In-surrection). Tbf, that's a not exactly uncommon misspelling. (Still better than the ST:TNG Technical Manual. I HAD that book. I enjoyed it for 5 minutes, until I found the amount of bull______ it contained. One edition wrote that there were two self-destruct mechanisms: the primary (via antimatter annihilation) and a secondary one via fusion bombs (to be used if the ship was out of antimatter or to destroy the saucer when it was away from the warp section). About the explosive yield, they said something (quoting from memory here) that the combined yield of the fusion bombs was about half that of the antimatter and gave 1000 and 500 photon torpedoes as equivalent. So far, so good. But then they gave as SI units 10^18 and 10^9 [sic] joules.
      Whoever wrote that last bit obviously never graduated, not even from a fish school. I really wonder why anybody on a channel like this would even _consider_ using that "manual" as a source.

    Considering that the Enterprise -E was up and running so soon after the D's destruction, it meant that particular Sovereign ship was already under construction, or at least designated for shipyard space.
    That means that some other Captain and crew were bumped down the list of available ships.
    Still some of that crew would have been transferred as replacements for casualties from the D's crash. And then after First Contact, a lot more of the originally promised crew that was gazumped for the Enterprise - E's mob would have been reassigned in order to make up for those assimilated by the Borg.
    At that point the remaining Sovereign crew that are designated understudies/substitutes for the E would be requesting transfer to a Oberth for safety reasons.
    Imagine the complaints: "They lost a _Galaxy class_ to a single obsolete Bird of Prey and they get the ship I was promised? You can't trust them with that record."
    [After First Contact] "See! Where's the main deflector dish? The hulls covered in micro fractures and look at what's been done to engineering?
    [[After Insurrection] They need a new warp core - what a shock.
    [After Nemesis] Don't tell me what they've done… my old Excelsior is fine after the refit anyway, you do know it was already mothballed when they got given _my ship_
    Still, it's lucky for Starfleet that their flagship went down just as they were bringing in a new super duper capital ship that would have outclassed it - it would be embarrassing having the pride of their fleet be an obsolete ship.

    The destruction of the D was an inside job!!?!

    Funny point about Sirtis. I'll always remember her at a panel blaming the fans for the movie franchise failing, saying that if we'd gone to see Nemesis, they could have kept making movies. Well, fast forward and I'm gratified to see her character having such a small and unimportant (except that time she screws Starfleet) role in Picard.

    Please tell me you're going to release a supercut video of all the ROCKS appearances. In Discovery the ROCKS get major screen time when the Emperor fights Control in that hallway - the camera zooms right up to the ROCKS, probably because later as the gravity goes funny and they do that inception hallway fight thing, the rocks roll from wall to wall as gravity shifts around.

    There really should have been *concept ships* built for the _Stardate 49800 Starship expo._
    Ship designers could've just replicated up some flights of fancy full scale models and stuck whatever stats they wanted on them.
    Put them on display with some Orion babes standing next to them inside force fields holding breathable air, gently stroking the hulls.
    I can already see the slogan _I'll love the E as much as _*_I love the D_*

    6:54 "Windows was lit pure white", My guess would be that the models where fitted with optic light (glass fiber) and thus had a single light source for all the 'windows', like how ILM made the Star Destroyer models for Star Wars a new hope and later Star Wars movies. Also, ironic with going back to purely white windows for the digital models as well.. in computer generated models you would actually be able to add even MORE details.

    I had that toy...but sadly since I was a kid and I think I got if from a car boot sale, it soon faded yellow over the years, sounds(I'm sure it had sounds) didn't work and stickers coming off. The same with my Enterprise D. Good memories.

    Destroying Enterprise D was a great mistake. I was looking forward to a refit, extra strong hold plating additional torpedo bays, lots of room remove family and replace them with weapons, quantum torpedoes and more, giving the ship more of a battle star Galactica meats Star Trek look. 😃

    The only complaint to STP3 is the lazy writting of the Enterprise G so disrespectful to Shaw and all who lost there lifes saving the galaxy ...so lets honour them but stripping there history and adding it to the Enterprises lol so so wrong .

    I will never understand why during the Dominion war the Enterprise E wasn't on the front lines but off on border patrol or diplomatic type missions..you are facing the end of the Federation... Every major power is involved and fighting for survival but the Feds want to keep there newest best ship nice and shiny off in no mans land... Get that damn ship to the front lines to lead the way and kick some Jem Hadar ass.

    I wish they'd stuck with the design of the 1701-D instead of putting the TNG crew in a radically different ship. It never felt like home the way the one on the show did.

    Well I figure this the 3 nacel enterprise was erased when the timeline was reset when Picard made a wrong choice during generations and was further changed when they traveled back in time and zephram Cochran saw the enterprise and heard its name as well so you got the Nx 01
