- This is the complete breakdown and history of the USS Titan A from #startrek Picard Season 3. It's a Neo-Contitution Class and/or Constitution Class III starship, I don't think they could decide. It's also a refit and a new ship, I also don't think they could decide. Enjoy!

So is it just me that noticed that the Vengeance looks a whole lot like the Shangri La !
I miss when it was therapy. It was so therapeutic.
So glad you're back. You have been missed.
Thank you for calling it by its correct name, the Titan A......it's not an Enterprise
They're accurately quoting Kirk misquoting Disney.....Kirk's words are accurately represented on the plaque, Disney's script is not...probably a copyright thing....they can get away with it because it's a pop culture reference and it's not actually the copyrighted material verbatim....
Nothing drags Junkball out of semi-retirement like a new ship Enterprise.
Perhaps today *IS* a good day to die!
A really awful, pointless, inferior (especially to the F) and cynical lazy load of fanservice nonsense which has everyone falling for it. This ship and the last parts of Picard means I will no longer be following any Star Trek in future.

The final rock montage with a rock rendition of the First Contact theme had me full out giggling.
Well done as always Junkball. Keep on trekkin'
Thanks and will do.
it's an interesting theme - it is a lyrical elaboration of the first few bars of the intro fanfare ("these are the voyages") written initially for end credits but later reworked as a main theme - and now a rock anthem
I lol when the rock made an appearance during it. That is a chef’s kiss of Star Trek montages.
That part was amazing 😂
I hope people watched until the end

Absolutely! So glad to see him back.
@@godofbiscuitssf Always a 'must see' for the fandom in my book
Could not agree more. The content you put out is genius level in its levity and comprehensiveness. You have quite a talent.
And that way i don't have to watch the crappy New Trek myself. Junkball is taking one for the team 👍
Yes - after all the other Picard S3 review and reaction vids come in, the one we're always missing and waiting anxiously for is this one.
No joke: these videos are delightful, your voice is as dulcet as Majel Barrett's, and please never stop making these videos.
When the world needed him the most, he came back.

It definitely took a while for the Titan's design to grow on me. I was quite fond of it by the end of the series, though. But I do share the "...eh" feeling about re-naming the ship. Felt like a bit of an insult to the sacrifices the ship, and crew made.
You honour my house with that rock montage! Seriously the best use of my covers to date! haha!
The honor is mine. You made my job easy. Your music connects with people. Thank you!

Having been around since the first "Dreadlocks Class" therapy, I have to say that your work always brings me joy. Thank you JBM for your years of content creation.
Wow. That was a lifetime ago. I hope they've been good years for you personally. I'm happy these videos still make you feel that way after all these years.
Junkball is actually the best youtube channel on star trek.
Seriously...what other channels are there? SF Debris? He just reviews the episodes and has been around forever. Steve Shives? Another one who's been around for forever, but his channel content isn't strictly Star Trek (neither is SF Debris). I can't think of others off the top of my head...

@@scifiguy26 Trekyards is up there, but I find Junkball more enjoyable.

I'll keep going as long as I can.
You may not be the most popular, but you're the only Trek channel that I drop everything to watch when there's a new video!
That means a lot. Thanks for that.
@@JunkBallMedia you mean a lot to us. In particular, it is a relief to know I am not the only person who nitpicks and theorizes about Trek to such an extreme degree, examining not only the in-universe story but also the real world production work.
Not only that, you pair your on point and comprehensive analysis with the most exquisite snark. Your selection of one line inserts in this video we're particularly hilarious, especially Data's hyena laugh as well as his contrived indignation about being told what to do by his not-mother.
@@DanielMReck That's what I love about the Trek fandom! We can be just as nitpicky as other fandoms while still being rabidly in love with this universe instead of getting toxic. We just chuckle and point it out, and then make a glorious montage about rocks.
Yep! I was literally about to go to bed and saw this. Well I guess I can watch a 20 minute video first…
Marcus over here spitting facts.
That Rock Montage at the end had me rolling with laughter.
But on a serious note I do think that did a disservice to the Titian lineage by renaming it to the Enterprise-G. Having the next ST series be of another Named ship (Ala la Voyager) with Seven as it's captain would have been a wonderful call back to the way Voyager broke that mold.
We're also still about 120 years away from the Enterprise J, so the H and I need to have long careers. Here's hoping that the Enterprise H will be Enterprise Class!
The rock monster they had to cut from Star Trek V wasn't because the effect looked terrible, but because rocks are such an overwhelming villan in Trek with an enourmous body count. If Kirk beat the rock monster, we could never believe he'd be in peril again!
Kirk knew the power of rocks all to well. It was his most affective weapon against the GORN captain
And ultimately, after falling down a giant rock pile, would lead to his demise…😢
@@gordalot rocks. They are just miniature planets, little strange worlds. And deadly.
It's ok. Taggart and the protector crew beat the rock monster.
Kirk, however, could never beat a... rock lobster.
No, I'm not proud of myself for that.
I love your consistent reminders of the incredible danger rocks pose to space-faring civilizations. Your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed!
Renaming it to the Enterprise-G felt like such an awkward move, like it was an obligatory, studio-mandated note they had to follow. They went through all the trouble of clumsily explaining how the original Titan's parts were somehow incorporated into the Titan-A despite bearing no visual similarities, then negated the need to explain any of that of it by just making the ship part of the Enterprise's legacy. Not to mention they had to clumsily decommission the brand-new Enterprise-F to make room for the next letter. It's just such a weird move overall, I dislike every part of it.
Same here but no, it wasn't studio-mandated. It was Matalas' choice.
Clumsily is a good word to describe that entire show, including the 3rd season, I just stopped caring about logic with this show(or Discovery), everyone involved in the writing and producing are just not in the same level of the old shows, at least in the 3rd season they tried to give the audience what they wanted, although it was still...Clumsily, but I don't blame them, they simply don't have the ability to do better so why bother in getting angry about minor things as logic?
@@E_y_a_l Indeed. Fans spend too much time contorting their minds trying to make sense of stuff in nuTrek when the simple answer is the shows are sloppily made and the writers certainly didn't put in as much thought as we do. If people enjoyed it I'm glad, but I'll always prefer the older shows and movies.
I felt the same way. Titan has a legacy line as well! Plus, nothing was said in the show about the E-F, so until this vid I just assumed there were two Enterprises at the end of the show... which was just silly. With 7 in command, they could've changed it Voyager A, but there's nothing wrong with keeping the Titan name.
@@inblackestnight9256 There's already a Voyager-A...I bet we're going to see it in Prodigy S2 (probably, we saw its shuttlecraft at the end of S1). I also seem to remember reading something about the next Titan (Titan-B?) being a new Luna-class ship like Riker's Titan was.
That end rocks sequence had me in stiches. Great to see you back!
It should’ve stayed the Titan. It earned its own name.
Or if they HAD to rename it, then make it USS Picard.
@@heldercruz230USS jean leu Picard sounds better
Full name ships underrated
I do agree tbh. That said, I wouldn't have said no to a new Neo-Constitution Class being built and named Enterprise-G, maybe looking a little different and more streamlined from the Titan-A
That rock montage at the end was absolute perfection
I agree with Picard's longing for carpets. Star Fleet interiors look a lot like gameshow stages. Mirror floors and stairs for no reason like on Who Want To Be A Millionaire .
The better to collect the rocks with, you see.
Of course, carpets are also harder to clean and sanitize; functionally, I feel hard surface floors would be better. (Now, we could discuss some rugs...)
@@Sephiroth144 hard floors not pleasant for crew. When my office almost got rid of carpets there were mass protests 😂
@@DisobedientSpaceWhale And are you on a spaceship where contamination of alien viruses or fungi that members of your crew have no immune defense against can fester in the carpet...? Or even part of a military?
The crew can have carpet in their quarters (and it has to be properly maintained); in the work areas, function beats form.
@@Sephiroth144 I'm sure if warp drive and transporters can be invented - anti bacterial carpets can be 🙄 you might as well say the same about their uniforms.... other practical reasons for carpet include cushioning crew falls, better grip underfoot, and less glare from lighting.
I hate how dark the new ships are. The bridges, the conference room, the hallways. The moments they’re back on the D bridge with its lights actually ON, was a welcome reprieve.
Been a fan of this channel for a LONG time, with each new video the jokes and puns get better and better.
Love it, thank you so much!
That rock montage is a thing of beauty.
Thanks. There was no other way it could've ended.
@@JunkBallMedia Oh, absolutely. And the “the only way Trekkies can get a date” + the Worf clip had me actually loling to the point I had to rewind.
I've been following your channel for years, and I've never been bummed about the time in-between videos, because I know that when one does drop, it's going to be a banger. Thanks, friend!
This is one of my favorite YT channels. JBM, you could easily have a huge following, but you only put out content when you feel like it and you do it with great care and love, and that is so respectable in the landscape. I love the mix of in-world and IRL lore and backstory you bring to every video, the insane attention to detail and careful research, and the humor. This is a channel to be proud of! A small moment of genius in this one... the countdown recalling TNG fonts and movies visual language was something you so easily could have skipped over, but you had the idea, and whatever level of pain in the neck it was, you set out to edit it in and it's just a great little moment that both shows how much care you put in and for us viewers, it's just an example of the many things you do with your videos that keeps us smiling. Thank you sir! In my opinion, this really is what RUclips should be and a lot of the 'greats' would have something to learn from you.
He doesn’t read the comments, but I do…and this one is a keeper!
If Terry really wants to bring back that Kirk-era ship look, he should do a show set in that period, around the time of Star Trek 2. From ships to uniforms to phasers, that was the golden age for the whole Star Trek aesthetic.
At 0:30 when you used the First Contact font for the “ONE” it was beautiful. I adore these videos.
Always a joy and brightens up the day to see your videos. Thanks! I think your criticism, nitpicking and teasing was on point this time!
I actually like it being the titan A compaired to the enterprise g
same
Same here. I think my brain went a little BSOD at the reveal of the renaming.
Like...I can forget the whole bad omen things with renaming. I can forget that the Enterprise is no longer the top of the line ships of the fleet. I can even forget the awkward design of this new "Enterprise" (which, I admit, is its own charm). But I can't get over the fact this disregards the ordeal and achievement of not only the ship and her crew, but also the previous ships in the "Titan" lineage. It's like Starfleet saying that compared to the Enterprise lineage, the legacy of the Titans, and by extension the rest of the fleet as well, doesn't matter, which I don't think is the message they want to sent.
@@PaiSAMSEN And if they really wanted to go homage, remember in Trek IV when they were approaching the Excelsior, and oh look, just past it...
Have a proper Enterprise-G behind the Titan-A, and get a nice look at it- before dropping Jack back to the Titan-A for his posting.
@@Sephiroth144 To expand further, having the Enterprise-E appear as part of Frontier Day instead of the F, and have the F appear behind the Titan-A the way you described.
Matalas said that he brought the F in as a tribute to STO fan...except the way the F appear in the show feel more like a slap in the face. (Seriously, an early-decommissioning due to a compromised system?)
@@PaiSAMSEN They treated the F like they treated every TNG guest star they brought back for Picard- "Hey, remember them? AND now they're gone..."

OMG, the part at the end about ROCKS! Just amazing!

It was really cool to see the return of LCARS!

I never liked the holograms, it's such a dumb idea as how do you focus on what you're looking at when the screen is semi-transparent and you're also seeing everything behind it (especially moving things)?
@@zerrodefex "But holograms and blue LED's = future!, also please pay no attention to the golden gate bridge being covered in solar panels despite the federation having advanced fusion and anti matter reactors, its future looking!"

Coming from someone who has re-watched TOS-ENT way too many times, I love all the minor insert cuts of clips from old episodes for laughs. Great work sir. Tons of insight and a surprising amount of info and details I wasn't aware of.
I too did not like that the Titan-A became the Enterprise-G(spot). If Deep Space Nine and Voyager proved anything, it is that a ship called "Enterprise" does not have to be the subject of a given Star Trek production.
Gawd I can't wait for a genuinely NEW live action show. No Enterprise, no Kirk/Spock/Pike, and no clumsy fan service. Strange New Worlds shows potential and I enjoyed it but lets get away from the 23rd century for crying out loud. I'd be happy for another series set in the 24th or 25th century but do something new for crying out loud.
@@CharlesP2009 I don't mind fan service. I'm a fan. I should be serviced.
@@DarinRWagner Winks and nods are fine but what they do is clunky and obvious.
@@CharlesP2009 Well I disagree with you there.
@@CharlesP2009 It's almost like both of the Star shows can't get away from what worked in the past...if we had someone named "Spacestrutter" in Trek, and a particularly named ship in the "Wars", we'd have a fandom black hole on our hands.

Another spectacular video report, with just the right amount of dry irony to appease your fans. Thank you for showcasing the new starship design! It looks quite good from most angles, and it also seems noticeably beefed up as well. That neck should be relatively spacious! Thank you also for identifying that scale model by *Bill Krause at Modeler Magic,* and also for the *Star Trek music by Captain Meatshield.* I'll explore both of those further.
The ending was beautiful. Great video 🤘 I have hope for the future as Star Trek fan if Terry is involved. He did great this season.
These are always a special treat. :) Yeah, the theft of Titan's lineage (would that be considered stolen valor?) was the one real sour note this season. Otherwise even the stuff that didn't _quite_ land was still fun overall.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... love your vids and the humour you add to them.

Junkball: the only RUclips Star Trek channel that is *always* worth the wait.
This video might be your masterpiece. The rocks montage sealed it.
OMG your sarcasm has reached new levels. The amount of editing work to bring these memes into your video must be immense!
Great video. I don’t understand why the enterprise d style is so hated by the designers. It’s like all they want is to get away from it. The bridge was amazing the feel was so comfy the lighting was great. Engineering was great. Even Picard when seeing enterprise d in Picard s3 said he missed the carpet. So it’s a running joke even with them.
Beautiful! I was so happy at the first ‘rocks!’ mention. Like ‘beak me up scotty’ and the ‘Vulcan neck pinch’ I wish this could enter the public lexicon one day!
Glad you liked it. I put that first rocks in as a tease.
I always find these to be fun and funny, but the humor was particularly top notch on this one. Bravo!
Not to mention a very interesting take on the most recent season and ship that aligns quite closely to my own sentiments. Thanks for your hard work.
Absolute perfection! Thank you Junkball for all your hard work and quirky humor.
Would love to see you do a breakdown of the refurbished Enterprise D. Great video as always!
I'm leaning towards giving starships a rest for a while, but you never know.
This might be your best video yet, fantastic work!
Much appreciated. Happy you liked it.
Kitt bashing gag is always great
The Rock montage at the end was the greatest work of Trek related dry comedy ever. No big joke with a punch line, just a constant stream of rock related content standing like a flag on top of the mountain of rock related jokes that have come before. Take a bow, crew.
I loved season 3 of Picard, but I really wished they had refit the D to the galaxy X, rather than rename the Titan and I would have loved to see a final boss takedown of the shrike with the galaxy x.
It would have tied in nicely to All Good Things and at least to me, make more sense that a neo constitution getting renamed.
Your montage at the end had me in stitches. Bravo on finally highlighting the Starfleet's greatest foe!
Renaming the Titan-A into Enterprise-G was a mistake that will haunt the Franchise for a long time. It would have been better to let the F still be in service and kill of the Titan to let seven and her senior officers take over a refit F
17:16 this ship is the one Picard talks about when he is talking to Scotty in the holodeck in the episode "Relics", Scotty asked Picard if he was familiar with the Constitution Class, and Picard said "There's one in the fleet museum"
My only issue was renaming the Titan -A. It would be fine to have the Enterprise-F out there commanded by anyone else. Titan-A proved itself worth having its own show as it did. I loved the Titan-A. It took me a moment to get used to the look and her Captain, but Wow, I really grew to love both. Yeah, Shaw is a dip **** from Chicago, but no one is perfect. I felt that they should have allowed him to stay alive, but if you are going to kill him don't rename the ship.
I would've been impressed if they re-named the ship the U.S.S. Shaw, TBH.
I don't care how many times you make the "K.I.T.T Bashing" joke, I love it every time.
The rocks and the kitt bashing jokes never get old.
new star trek series new junkball video. this is what im grateful for
One of things I pondered the most about the Titan-A was the lack of a designated Ops officer and station. They had Science and Communication on opposite sides and Conn and tactical in front. Presumably there were other stations for Engineering and Mission. The Defiant didn't have an Ops station but strangely had a Science station. I always felt like Communication morphed into the Ops station, but the D saw Tactical sometimes handle Communication (I guess nothing to do otherwise?). So now Communication is back, with Ops folded into Conn?
I like the ship as the Titan-A not the Enterprise. Of course, I might be biased because I was hoping that the Enterprise D would become the dreadnought version with Admiral Riker taking command of it by the end of the series.
Really great ship that I think was utilized a lot better than earlier seasons. My main issue is that it looks a little wonky at certain angles, and renaming it Enterprise felt like a cheap attempt at fanservice.
The rocks montage at the end was the cherry on top of an already satisfying presentation!
Also, Captain Shaw should've never have been killed. He was the best new character introduced by far.
He was definitely the best new character this season. I think they'll bring him back. It's Star Trek. Death is a mere inconvenience.
i agree, but I don't think they expected him to be quite so popular with fans.
Excellent threat montage ending! Great video
Really well put together, with just the right amount of humor, with the vid.
Really well done, really enjoyed it.

Love your work. If you ever run out of ideas to do about ships I suggest you start doing Trek prop history and design videos. Would love to see your takes on all the various Tricorders, Phasers, and communicators.
I love the design tbh. I was getting really tired of increasingly sleek, thin, and narrow ships. I absolutely adore the bold chunky design, it makes it feel like a vehicle made for function, not a luxury yacht.
Also I was getting really tired of the no-necks era. Let ships have necks! They don't all have to, but the necks make for much more striking and interesting designs.
Star trek since about 2010... Ahh who cares
