Was looking for 16mm videos to show my son, watched a few from your old line and thought it was absolutely stunning. I'm excited to see what looks like a brilliant plan made reality. Love the way you present it too, you've gained a subscriber!
Sadly I pulled up my own garden railway recently, which if I'm honest was too small a scale (O-16.5) and really quite a nuisance to maintain, but hoping I'll be able to build something in a larger scale when we eventually find somewhere to move to. Another reason I'll be watching with interest :)

I just found your channel and I love it. My fiancé and I love model railroading and we're considering our first garden railroad.

Glad you're back in action, even happier with your plan to document your new layout build in detail. Lots of content to look forward to. Full steam ahead.

Willie Wonka be like, "no, stop, don't"... But, then I see you've put some really hard core thought into it... and you're young and energetic. I'm so jealous. Watch your drainage around the house. I think your planning is brilliant. You might consider some sandstone on the grass side of the "mountain" here and there if you don't want it to stretch to the grass yard too much. And I agree, you are going to all this effort, the more you can have the top edge have walls, plantings and the effect of a crest falling off the other way - it is going to be incredible.

Thank you! We know the drains are a long way down so they won't be a problem.
Nice idea there, we've a long way to go before we get to that sort of detail.

Exiting plans cannot wait to see the first section built, but can I suggest that instead of a brick wall, you build a stone wall this will look far more natural than the hard edges of brick.

There will be stone walling, some concessions had to be made due to cost. Most of the brick walls aren't on the scenic side of the railway though.

@@SouthgateLightRailway recycled stone might work out cheaper than brick, good luck with whatever you choose to do. 😀

We have just published Episode 7 so there's more to watch and more to come as we get it edited. ruclips.net/video/Tckprei1Txw/видео.html
We will continue making videos as we build the new railway.
We might try and do an FAQ video over winter while it's not railway building weather.
The scoop is used to apply a tile adhesive mix on top of the walls to make a more level track bed. It is all explained in Episode 4.
If you have missed any episodes we have put them all into a playlist.
