Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).
I thought the same thing her voice or delivery has changed much bolder even more beautiful this girl never fails to amaze me. Glad to hear your family and especially the little one are all ok and on your way to full recovery.

When you said this made you spellbound, I thought about how Angelina mesmerized the audience with Bohemian Rhapsody. This is the 2022 equivalent of that performance. She sings the same lyrics as Elvis and Freddie did, but the emotional impact is completely different-and we’re spellbound by the way Angelina brings the lyrics to life with her uniquely beautiful voice. Angelina’s gift to us is making us not just hear the lyrics, but we also feel them. Any lyricists should hope that Angelina chooses their song because she delivers the message like no one else.
I’ve been attending Angelina’s live concerts in Norway 🇳🇴 recently her stage presence has been phenomenal her live vocals amazing, Angelina is so talented and special, and Norway is an amazingly beautiful country to visit!
In many of Angelina's covers, she will pay tribute to the artists of the songs she covers. In this one, she is extending homage to Elvis. She also does her arrangements or, at least, has very much input into the way her music is done. In this case, she departed from Elvis by slowing the tune down and singing it in a way the lyrics actually ask for. Elvis made it a virtual pop "dance" tune even though the lyrics are a sad, emotional and heartbreaking tale of an impending breakup and lost love. Angelina sings the song as it should be performed. In this video she is dressed as Elvis was in his " '68 Comeback Special" TV program. Leather from top to bottom. Her hair is done up in a "bee hive" style that Elvis liked his wife Pricilla to wear. The red guitar is a contemporary Hagstrom reproduction of a 1967 Viking II. Elvis had borrowed it from Al Casey, one of the session musicians of the Comeback Special band. My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.

This video production is pure Angelina Jordan's Genus in full display filled with symbolism from the dust on the piano representing the past, to Elvis's leather jumpsuit and the Red guitar he play during his comeback 1968 tour. Angelina's hairdo style that Priscilla Presley wore in the '60s was called the Bumblebee. The lyric "she was just a child" Priscilla Presley was 14 yrs old, Elvis was 24 when they met in 1959 at a party when he was serving in the Army in Germany. They were married in 1967 at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas she was 21 and he was 31yrs old. The song "Suspicious Minds" represented their relationship beginning to fall apart due to Elvis's drug addiction and numerous affairs, and their marriage divorce in1972.

The easy symbolism: The black leather jumper is similar to Elvis' outfit he wore on the 1968 comeback special, the red guitar is exactly the same one he used in that same special, and the iconic beehive hairdo is the same one Priscilla Presley made famous in the 1966-1968 timeframe. My interpretation of other symbolism - the removing of the dust covers signified dusting off an old classic and revitalizing a beloved song from a long ago era. The little girls, who were her two cousins and her sister depict her life in music growing up and developing surrounded by the old classics which shaped her love of music. Angelina is the classiest, most authentic, musically intelligent, and talented artist I have had the privilege to witness in my 57 years. This performance was a masterful re-interpretation of this iconic song. Mad respect to the King of Rock and Roll from the Queen of Jazz.

When I was a kid I used to be a big fan of Elvis Presley. Maybe my parents had something to do with it. This beautiful song reminds me from childhood when my dad was still alive. Angelina does what she always do. She turns everything to gold or even better.

This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. AJ deconstructs a song then reconstruct it to make each individual hearing it feel it was written for them, a love letter to their comfort zone. I would like to hear more original songs instead of the well known standards which obviously draw in an audience because they know the song and are curious to see what she's done to it. You can see that the gift of adding the right emotions to her rendition is even more prominent when the lyrics require and/or demand it. Great to see you back again! I know having covid and a new family to care for plus work and life in general takes up a huge amount of time. Wait till you're parent of two with 9 grandkids along with all of the extended families. I had to retire so I could keep up with the birthdays and every known holiday. Elvis did this song as a cover and kept it in the original upbeat style. Angelina listened to the story and arraigned the song to suit the mood as it should be. Genius! And her voice is the best it's ever been.

Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis when he did his comeback special. What a performance and homage to The King! She has a lot more texture and depth in her voice now and she' still just 16!

Hi Schnell, first and foremost, your little one is the most important. Second AJ gave a bunch of concerts in Norway, now that she finished school. She is now a professional. She was so happy in Norway, she giggled, laughed and cried happy tears. Sarah, her mom told in an interview, I think, her album of AJ´s original songs, will come out next year. After Norway, she visits Japan, her grandad´s home country, for concerts and family. In Norway, First she was at Alsang Pa Grensen for 2 songs, than she did her concerts in Sandefjord, Kurbadhagen, than Kongsberg and again Kurbadhagen. The organizer there asked her family back, because they sold so many tickets all around the world, they had to. You and your fam, get well, stay safe and please react to the new Angelina. Only true Angels could easily cope with the magnificent growth in Angelina's voice in a relatively short space of time , because we new it was always imminent. Angelina's presentations have progressed on from ' Tiny ' to ' Teen ' and rapidly approaching " QUEEN " There is just NO substitute for the unadulterated Class of our Barefoot Princess !!!!! I looked at your face at the opening of the song. Like the rest of us you were hit by the sheer beauty and I would suggest the restrained but clearly evident power of Angelina's voice.
A couple of additional symbolic Elvis Tributes in the video are that many believe the boots she wears in the opening scene are blue suede shoes and the pianist is wearing the same suit as Elvis' band in the "68 Special. At 58, she is the only artist whose covers of Elvis' I absolutely love!

Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

When you said this made you spellbound, I thought about how Angelina mesmerized the audience with Bohemian Rhapsody. This is the 2022 equivalent of that performance. She sings the same lyrics as Elvis and Freddie did, but the emotional impact is completely different-and we’re spellbound by the way Angelina brings the lyrics to life with her uniquely beautiful voice. Angelina’s gift to us is making us not just hear the lyrics, but we also feel them. Any lyricists should hope that Angelina chooses their song because she delivers the message like no one else.

She also does her arrangements or, at least, has very much input into the way her music is done. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Great to see you back again! I know having covid and a new family to care for plus work and life in general takes up a huge amount of time. Hi Schnell, first and foremost, your little one is the most important. Second AJ gave a bunch of concerts in Norway, now that she finished school. She is now a professional. She was so happy in Norway, she giggled, laughed and cried happy tears. Sarah, her mom told in an interview, I think, her album of AJ´s original songs, will come out next year. After Norway, she visits Japan, her grandad´s home country, for concerts and family.
In Norway, First she was at Alsang Pa Grensen for 2 songs, than she did her concerts in Sandefjord, Kurbadhagen, than Kongsberg and again Kurbadhagen. The organizer there asked her family back, because they sold so many tickets all around the world, they had to. You and your fam, get well, stay safe and please react to the new Angelina.
