More MiSTer vids! Make a whole series bro.
There’s a Brazilian new fpga option in the wild, made by Victor Trucco, that runs cores from memory AND accepts cartridges ! The name is MC2+ it has some advantages over mister (more complete out of box), and the cartridge/expansions slot. But of course, the community is still slowly growing.
nice, more mad mister content.
FINALLY!!! more mister video plz.
The MiSTER has been one of my favorite tech purchases. A MiSTER, an Analogue Pocket and and a PC for 3D based emulation or more recent console emulation is all we need.
Super timely video MadLittlePixel…my MISTER is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Thanks!
The simplest tutorial for Mister! Thanks, you're a life saver! Keep up the great work.
Aww snap. This I'm hoping to get one day.
Perfect timing. I've held out on Mister and have been curious. This is a great video to bring me up to speed. Thanks!!
Man I could not agree more. I'm in the same spot!
This was the greatest MiSTer tutorial. It actually goes into the config.
Been awhile too. Need to update all my files. Awesome video like always.
i opted for this instead of waiting and potentially having to deal with scalpers for an analogue duo. i was also looking into getting a neogeo. and this thing has more than sufficed.
Yeah, I've got the MiSTer and it's quite fun!! Love my consoles and Amiga/Atari ST!
thanks MLP. been waiting for something like this!
Thanks for this and future related videos on this MLP!
You've got a ton of excellent content on your Channel. Keep up the good work.
Many thanks for this. A really clear tutorial.
Always appreciate your content sir! Thank you!
Taking a look Great instructions!
looking forward to part two!
Great video Ron!
Awesome tutorial Ron!
Thanks for the video! A future video on the display resolution options for the MiSTer FPGA, particularly this 5x stuff would be greatly appreciated.
Liked the Paper Boy theme during the update sequence
Thanks Ronald!
Very informative! Thanks for the video
Great video man never knew about this
MiSTer is on my list of ToDos
Damn this is awesome, never knew something like this existed
PC Setup and if you know how the EXODOS combined with the total dos launcher! Keep up the Mister content!!
nice, you could include in the next video how to change the OSD font and also how to set dynamic wallpapers, there's a repo from Ranny Snice which has a ton of pictures designed for the mister OSD menu layout and also you could talk about the new save states feature in the nes core and maybe in another video showcase the new GBA2P core from fpgazumspass which allows 2 simultaneous players to play one in a crt and another player with a hdmi monitor or dual screen in the same monitor at the same time.
Oh yeah MiSTer, I just remembered how I discovered this channel lol.
I absolutely love mine!
Love the mister. Would be cool if you did like monthly update videos on new cores or updates to cores etc.
Thank you.
i love mister.
I love my MiSTer. It would be my desert island console of choice. It would be good for you to show how to build one before installing the software. Also showing what you can get away with instead of all the official parts. Like a USB dongle, & is the the IO board that essential if you are only playing on HDMI. Is the RTC really needed? I know it all comes down to personal preference, but it would help people who a just starting out. Thanks for the excellent video. I'm looking forward to more.
as ever good tutorial
MiSTer is my life
Love your videos, would love to see a video on the mister hooked up to a crt tv, I've had bad luck with geometry on a crt with the mister, I know it's not the video output on the mister, it has to do with the geometry on the crt tv, I've tried the service menu with 240p test suite but still can't fix the geometry on the crt tv, if I could get any help with how to fix the geometry on a crt tv, would be amazing to play the mister on a crt tv with correct geometry
Any chance of doing a side by side comparison between Mister, Analogue and original hardware (e.g. NES, SNES etc)? I have a Mister FPGA wanna see what the difference is besides form factor and being able to read carts. I do love the Mister cheat function and wish they would expand it on other cores.
Is a copper heat sink necessary? Or is just the fan on top OK? Will it damage it running it without a copper heat sink?
I am mainly interested in Arcade games on MiSTer, and like to use everdrives with original (upgraded) hardware for console play. So, some nice developer like Jose (I supported him on Patreon - you too) writes cores to support (old) arcade machine hardware. Some of these cores support more than one arcade game because certain games used the same hardware. The quality of the core in emulating the hardware determines if the game will run well, pretty good or not at all. The quality of the core is analogous to the quality of the Mame emulator. So some stuff works great while other stuff doesn't. I messed with MiSTer a lot a few years ago and ended up putting it aside. Organization and documentation was a mess, especially for arcade stuff. Now apparently things are better. Please MadLittlePixel, tell me how many arcade games work now and which ones. It was almost impossible before to figure it out.
I havnt used update-all script yet myself. Just doin everything the manual way.
Update all looks superior for sure. But what about my personal settings on every core, save states, roms, backgrounds etc. Will all this be untouched?
Thanks for yet another awesome video!

You said controllers were in the next video. How about the OG console to USB adapters, do they work??? So for example SNES to USB or N64 to USB
Nice
I have built a control board (for my MAME gaming PC) using an Ultimarc iPac board, Ultimarc RGB buttons, RGB illuminated trackball, two joysticks etc. Works flawlessly on my MAME gaming PC. What happens if I‘d connect this control board to a MISTer? Would it work?
Do they make a WiFi adapter that plugs into the lan port? As for the IO board, how about a fan and heat sink? Do you have a recommended original controller adapter hub?
The part that always drives me nuts is setting up the ROM files for the hardware - mainly because I'm into Amiga. So where do you put the file and what do you name it. I worked it out through trial and error but it drives me nuts because all these emulators will tell you that you don't have the file but they don't tell you what to call it and where to put it.
Totally
Files for each emulator go into their respective folders in the /games dir. So amiga would be in /games/amiga. Each core will look here for their files.
I need to learn how to add Rom Hacks to my mister through WiFi. I tried a few time but can't get it to work.
What about lightgun support? Thank you!
Im still confused with the analog and digital output options. What would a typical gaming monitor go best with?
I would love to build my own retro gaming build and hope it handles 800 GB and a 375 GB
That's an awesome Super Mario mushroom wallpaper background. Source? 🙏
Aight then
What is the tabletop portable display you use for your videos? Sorry if this has been asked a zillion times :(
Lol, yeah I get asked a ton and been trying to make sure to make a note of it. Its here on Amazon amzn.to/2Teb81O but is currently sold out. Most items I use in my videos thats available on Amazon I have listed in the Amazon recommended products link in my description.
Can this play graphics-heavy arcade games such as the 3D Jurassic World shooter?
If it emulates real hardware (and thus likely wont have any emulation issues) then I might go for this. I particularly want it just to use for expensive games that I cant buy the cartrige of but still want to play.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Well the only thing is, everdrives are about $100 each, and I play several consoles, id probably want several everdrives. At least three, Snes genesis and N64. Maybe NES? Anyway, the MiSTer seems to be about $150 if im not mistaken, and I dont need to get the special add ons because I intend to just use composite out. I think id be saving money by getting this thing instead of three/four everdrives. Though I might get the N64 one anyway since the N64 is so odd with its controller having those C buttons and the rumble pak working the way it does. Idk, kinda not sure about any of this.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Im not using real hardware for the nes snes and genesis anyhow, just a clone console that came with all three. So... Yeah sounds like that more or less justifies the purchase, a MiSTer instead of three everdrives, and probably an N64 everdrive.
Does the Mister support save and load states? Just curious.
how to add more arcade roms? you just drop your roms into the game folder?
This looks really cool but Wow the price on the DE10 is salty!
Silly question but does it find the bios for you from the web or has it pulled it from your PC during the 30min update?? Bios for me are very difficult to find and I've still not figured how to get them to work just through emulation. Sega Saturn is a good example. If the MiSTer is applying them all along with the cores and other data other than the ROMs for the games then this is really an amazing device?
Yeah the update all script is pulling everything from online sources. This script really makes things easy. Creates all your folders, grabs all the cores, cheats, bios files, and arcade games. Only gotta add your roms for consoles and computers. Thats the easy part compared to everything else.
Did you just tell us to take the SD out the PC into the Mister to tell us to put it back into the PC to add the update all?
Alright I was on the fence about this because of the price, but you sold me seeing it in action. Can you make a video with more gameplay? Maybe some NeoGeo games? Thanks!
It’s near perfect versus AES/mvs hardware, the only differences are improvements. The 128 ram is what you’ll want if neo geo is your goal, since that should be enough for even the bank switched neo geo games (the “giga power” titles)
@@tehshingen Thanks for the reply! I'll make sure to get the 128MB RAM module.
thank u thank u thank u thank u thank u thank u thank u thank u
Anyone know how to get MISTER to simultaneously recognize input from an IPAC and a separate USB joystick at the same time? I know how to get it to configure to one separately, but not both. My ultimarc U360 is the perfect joystick for 4-way games, but then I can't get the MISTER to accept input from my buttons on my IPAC (keyboard) control panel.
Can it play dreamcast and sega saturn good
Nope
Thanks
When I run the update all script , my mister downloads the arcade ROMs , but then also removes some of them ? Do you have any idea why it's doing this , the whole download process is taking literally 4 or 5 hours ? Any ideas 😂
Does anyone know how to expand the space on the micro sd card please?!? 😎I image my 32go on a 256go!!!
I search for info but can't find the good info!!! 😅
You probably should've included samba setup, so people don't have to keep removing their sdcard to transfer files
What's up with PI BOY DMG IS THIS Any thing like the PI BOY DMG
Super Console X PC Lite seems to be a better bang for your buck than a MiSTer
I’d love to get a setup, just not tech savvy enough.
Retro game RUclipsrs: setting up the mister is easy! I could do it in my sleep!
Us average consumers: *rolls eyes*
Marge Simpson: *grumble sigh*
how come this video doesn't have an upload date. what a crime.
Im not sure how you are viewing it but when i look at it with both my own account and not logged in it shows the date. June 28 2021
👍👍
Couple of quick questions. Can the Mister run Snes roms that were enhanced by MSU-1 chip? Also, can the roms be zipped because most rom packs have them zipped? Some emulators don't like zipped roms. Very informative video, thanks!
but.. whos buying that board for almost $200?
Plenty of people. If noone was buyin it noone would be developing for it lol.
Or just save 200$ and use computer to play
Obviously fpga isn't for you.
