The Guest of Honour at the Concert, the Sitar legend, Ustad Vilayat Khan, honoured him at the start of the concert. Watch that and excerpts of Bismillah Khan's rendering of the evening melody, Raga Puriya. This concert was released on Navras Records CD album (NRCD 0033) and the DVD of the same concert is expected to be released in the coming months.

I too attended this wonderful concert in London. An event never to be forgotten. The humility of this great soul was only matched by his power of expression. He was the true spirit of Banaras, unifying the beauty of Islamic culture with that of the Hindu religion. What would he say to our present India of discord and the wedge some people are determined to drive between us? Sad, almost as sad as the fact that this wonderful artist died almost destitute. A great indictment to us all. But thanks God his recordings live on and can be enjoyed by us who remember him, as well as by younger listeners who only discover him.

Tears roll down freely from my eyes when I start this performance, Ustad Vilayat Khan is one of the greatest Sitarists ever giving such a heartfelt welcome to the great Ustad Bismillah Khan, these characteristics make them beyond human. And the way Ustad took the permission of the Audience to start playing is beyond my verbiage. Thanks!

I read about Ustaad Bismillah Khan in my class 9th English course book and got curious so came here. I don't have much knowledge about classical music but I have to say that this was pure bliss. Now I get why he and his music is so respected and loved.

I had a privilege to see him perform live on the occassion of Bhopal Doordarshan station inaugration. I was very young at that age. May be 6-7 years old. I didn't know what I had witnessed. Now I feel privileged.

I really don't know how long the humanity has to impatiently wait to see yet another great creation of God like this great son of our great tradition, a tradition that has been handed down to the posterity religiously by these great sons of my great country. I am really overwhelmed by the magical melody coming out of the shahanai so spontaneously that it transports to a very different world where you experience total tranquility.

Ustad Bismillah Khan birth on 21 th March 1916 and he's belongs to Bihar (INDIA) and when he was child he would regularly go the nearby bihariji temple to sing the bhoj Puri 'chaita, the end of prestion he get big laddu 1,25 kg (｡◕‿◕｡)➜comment from INDiA
This great soul was nothing but a saint. We are blessed to have had him in our midst, in our lifetime.

indeed.... I being born and brought up in Allahabad and touch in Banaras... got opportunity to sit on side and lap of the legendry maestros... Prayag Sangeet Samiti "Praveen" examinations were the occasion when baba and all legends of this time ...we were10-12 years and masters of age 50s...60s... ohhh tears are coming now we lived the life .....
