- In October 1994 Sama Arts and Navras Records presented an All-Night concert at London's prestigious Royal Festival Hall. Top of the event billing were the two of the greatest vocalists of Hindustani and Carnatic music traditions, Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Padma Vibhushan Dr M Balamurali Krishna. This performance was released on the Navras Catalogue (title reference NRCD 0088). While no formal professional video recording of the concert was done, there exists an informal in-house video record to help with mastering process. An excerpt of that performance of the early morning Raga Bhairav is shared here. Apologies for the granular quality of a single camera VHS video filming.
No apologies for the video quality. The fact that this performance can be seen and heard is in itself a gift to all of us here...
I was at that show and remember loving this part, they came on at around 8am after an all-night festival of music. A very memorable experience!
Two absolutely devine singers !! We are fourtunare to get to see such a great presentation. No words to express the joy.
The two Gods of Indian Music.🙏🙏🙏
The music of ages karnaatic shyastreeya music is hindustaani music with out specific form muslims are chenjing names and using our music
The way both of them leave the tone so subdued once done so that the other person can pick it up easily and take it where they want and then again bring it back for the other to pick it up easily again, it's just pure admiration and love for each other. Absolutely phenomenal. Thank you so much for showing us this incredible and mind blowing jugal bandi.
I am so lucky to be born in India due to such amazing talented Artists and equally great teachers, gurus, leaders, scientists, engineers, doctors, scholars and technologists. There is no match to such beautiful mix of art with science! 🙏🇮🇳
What a great masterpiece of raag bhairav. I was present at the time of sad demise of late Pt Bhimsenji and I was crying whole day as if I lost one of my family member. No doubt he was more than that for many others like me. Tribute😢😢😢
The longest 'Hari' I ever heard....MBK is epitome of musical brilliance
Both legends are together ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏😇😇
Blessed are the ones who were born 1960-80, including these 2 uncrowned samrats of indian classical music. There were many great musicians performing during that period, Chittibabu, Lalgudi Jayraman, Kunnakkudi Vaidyanathan, Gangubai Hanagal, Pandit Jasraj, Mallikarjun Mansoor, Maharajpuram Santhanam, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad All Rakha, Ustad Bismilla Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar. 1960-90-2000, golden era really.
