I have 2 in the corners under the speaker grilles. I think those relived the pressure. I have to fix them still. Living in this climate im surprised its not destroyed by now. Always have a sunshade on it. And in the NYC area where it used to be it was always cloudy. Kept the paint trim and interior nice for 15 something years now it looks bad.
We have the exact same truck... i am getting no air from dash vent or front vents.. just floor. What is my problem. My blower motor comes on perfect. Just no air on vents.
thanks I got it fixed last night inup being some wires that got cut buta on throws in the face vent won't go to the windows or feets ? any ideas wht it might be
I think you need like a "go pro" on your head so you dont have to hold the camera and do the job at the same time. But nice job. I'll try it on my 93 gmc sierra, only blows on high.
+Sarah-Anne Reagan Ellis I have a go pro. I hate it ya the resistor could be bad of the one of the relays are bad. I had a bad connection at a relay, for months the fan speed 2 stopped working. Cleaned the connector, its been mint.
Thanks B, this is the same setup in my 98 Topkick. I'm moving to Florida end of June, bought a 98 GMC C6500 26 foot box truck, has the old cab and dash design. Has a 6.0! Soooo slow with the auto.
Oh god why did you buy that. The tires are $500 a piece. Yea same dash now its cracked. The Relays go bad too I had one that worked when it wanted to and I kept on losing speed 2/3 Relay tested good, It clicked but. It had burned insides. Took a while for me to figure it out. Had same issue with the AC when the cycling switch on the drier died and the AC used to Disconnect when it wanted. I would of just rented a penske like 4x like Ill do when Im ever out of here. Request a Hino Because they are the best. Toyota. Think they are all air ride seat now and even air brakes. Which You can Legally drive I guess now w/o a Class B / A etc
Is yours a 4speed fan ? I have 93 K2500, Chevy, in which the heater does not come on . When it does, I have all 3-speeds, (mine is a 3-sp)... but it will quit intermittently, and maybe hitting a bump in the road will reengage it...
ya 4 speed Might have bad relays. Sometimes they bench test fine like mine did... But then they click and wont connect later on down the road. I left the dash insert out and drove around then tested the relays when I lost the speed.. Since changing the faulty relay all has been good
My 1990 Chevy truck heater on works on low and when I put it on medium & high it don't do nothing but I am getting heat on low though. I was wondering what the problem would be & how to fix it? Please someone help me. Thanks.
Blower resistor could be shot or if in 1990 they put relays to control the fan speed one of the relays could have burned contacts and needs to be replaced. My Medium speed kept dropping out when it wanted to. Was the relay. I figured it out when I was knocking the relays around., Cracked open the relay cover and the contact? Burned from age
I just got my ac fixed. I put the high pressure switch in the back of the compressor. When ever I have it plugged in. The HVAC display shuts off and ac switches to the defroster vents. It works fine otherwise. Don't know what is going on
Yeah 1990 k2500. It works fine some days. It worked on the way to work today.. But at lunch. It wigged out. The fan still blows when the display shuts off. It just switches to the defroster vents. When the HVAC display reappears. AC is off. One other question. When you turn your AC on. Does the blower motor blow harder about 20 seconds after you turned it on high? When i turn mine on. it starts blowing. Then 20 seconds later, I hear another fan kick on.
Maybe the display is going on open it up check the board for cracked solder joints if you are into that kind of thing. The blower motor and a series of relays one of mine just failed the other day. When I was taking apart wires i noticed if you accidentally power the blower motor the hvac panel lights with the key off Weird. If you need a wiring diagram try and select the vehicle and find the system www.bbbind.com/free-tsb/
Probably the recirc actuator. Its a real PITA to replace w/o removing the dash but I got it done. The top screw is a bear to get at I changed it on the worst possible day it w as like 110* and 100% humidity boiling hot sun lol. A message board for chevy trucks had a good posting, they use a small 7mm nut driver and a gasket scraper to put pressure on the nut driver, prop it all up there, all to get to top screw and use a LONG 1/4 wrench to turn the screw out, the 1/4 inch fits on good to the nut driver. It works. ! Get a magnetic SMALL 7mm nut driver.
Check all the fusible links on the fire wall under the cover. You need a wiring diagram I believe one of them feed the HVAC unit. There is a fuse for it too, its connected to the dome light as well
hey I need help before pulling out the blower motor I have a 1993 Chevy 1500 I go to turn it on an no air at all I heard a knocking noise next to motor wht could it be
Could have debris inside around the motor motor, or the motor could be bad. A knocking noise or clicking noise that wont go away near the blower motor is the fresh air actuator stripped out, real PITA to replace I had to change it ruclips.net/video/MfSI7n5Enw0/видео.html
blower motor relay may be melted and stuck on. I had a bad relay. It was stuck on at times or would turn off. Cracked open the relay the damage was evident. ruclips.net/video/BfdHEikam48/видео.html
I just picked up a silverado 97, the heater blower doesn't work and if I play with the switches I get a little smoke (smells burnt might just be the heat refraction) where should I start?
If it does not work on any speeds, check the motor, if not the resistor could be cooked. There is also probably a fuse in this circuit for the motor or HVAC unit
The bearings usually fail on these, so if its seized the brushes could be burning on the motors commutator . on a 97 the blower motor should remove easily.
ghtowagon I replaced the blower and old one was seized but still get no fan movement with switch, checked wires and fuses, all looked good. in the morning ill pick up a resistor pack. what are your thoughts? also I had liquid behind the pump like it was coming in from the outside vent above the hood, any thoughts?
You could have cooked a fuse. Take out the resistor and look at it. If its burn up or it has a broken resistance wire in it, its bad. If it looks fine, its probably good. Make sure you have a good connections at the blower motor. You could always run a fused power wire, then ground to a jump pack to check if the blower motor works. (If its a used blower motor you are using)
@@RigocerdaCerda I still had my blower turn off turned out to be a failing blower motor relay. The one that controls the low/ med speed. There are 4 relays. The relays even tested good but once in a while it would click and...yea no power flow. Cracked it open the contact was all worn from use. Replaced it with a new old stock same spec hella relay and its been great
Cool, thanks. On the 95-00 style dash, Its a little different you do more of the work from the glove box area. but the HVAC box is basically the same setup

Thanks for the help i have to replace the resistor in my 94 truck did even know were it was so this was a big help.
Yea its kinda tucked in their,. Glad I could help. Get that blower working!
Clean truck man and that dash looks amazing! Honestly amazed there wasn’t any cracks in the dash

You ever figure out the problem I’m dealing with this now
That white modual you pointed at is the VSS. Vehicle speed sensor buffer box. Still haven't found mine but diagrams say thats where its located
yea this year shouldn't really have one from my reading but I guess it does. It has 4L60E thought I could change it from the ECM

Will that cause a knocking noise when you turn on and off the truck ? I'm having that problem with my 94 but I'm not sure I'm what it is
its probably the fresh air recirc actuator by the blower motor. Mine went bad PITA to replace but i got it done
My 91 1500 only blows on defrost it starts smelling like
Somethings burning my pops said it could be the resistor
Bro said use an asian guy lmao

thanks for making this video...replacement of the resistor pack isn't even covered in the Chilton manual I have from 1993
I bet the whole relay system is not in there either. When a relay looses connection you loose fan speeds
I have to bang on my blower motor sometimes to get it come sometimes what can cause that....

Mine was the actuator behind motor. But also best to clean blower out too. Love these old trucks. TLC goes a long way.
At 1:00 that is a speed sensor buffer.
Yea Its probably it I thought the 94 didnt have it as it has electronic VSS
Good video and for you and others it’s not a knock Sensor it’s the VSS Drac or speed Sensor.
Yup. I figured that out. Thought the 94 didnt have them. You can adjust them
