  • In this video, we'll be discussing the Bacch-sp by Theoretica Applied Physics... but it's not a normal discussion. This is an exclusive zoom interview with the lead designer Edgar Choueiri and includes members of my WhatsApp group where we share tips and insights.
In this part of the zoom, we discuss what people can expect with the Bacch-SP and what inherent problem with stereo that it's fixing.
Interaural crosstalk is a phenomenon that occurs when the sound waves from one channel of stereo arrive at two different ears. This can cause listener fatigue and a collapse of the sound stage, which is why it's important to understand crosstalk cancellation. In this video, we'll be discussing how crosstalk cancellation can be used to reduce the impact of interaural crosstalk on audio quality. Finally, we'll look at the bacch-sp by theoretica applied physics and its implications for improving all stereo recordings.

Hello. I’ve only recently subscribed to your channel. I love your content and this technology is fascinating to me. I watched your one hour video on the BAACH as well as diving into the FAQs. I’m not sure if you have another video that addresses this but forgive my basic questions. First, can you use this to watch and listen to movies through your two channel speakers as an alternative to surround sound without going down that road? Also, how would the experience compare of hearing DSOTM in BAACH 3D vs Atmos? Lastly, are there any technical tweaks you can make for those with sensitive hearing issues like tinnitus or hyperacusis?

Welcome...I have a playlist on my channel that covers most of those questions. They will be more helpful and detailed than I can do in a reply. Also, I have a membership section with a WhatsApp group filled with Bacch users as well as Edgar the designer. That may interest you as well.

Fortunately for the rest of us, Machine Learning will deal with witn a simple webcam. Not only will it track the head but will model the room and the acoustic phenomenon at the listener's ears. Those algorithms will run in real-time on commodity hardware. We can even anticipate that in some future, similar wavefront-shaping tech will allow the system to steer the audio to your position in the room, well-beyond simple head tracking. Scientists like Choueri would normally be the first to welcome the scaling that comes with the commoditization of these techniques. Simply wishing decent audio experience to be proprieraty to the wealthy, would be plainly wrong.

That technology already exists if you watch my video from Edgar's lab. In the future, music will be beamed to your ears using phase array speakers instead of a stereo pair. It will allow for multiple sweet spots and even two different pieces of music to be played for different listeners... Stay tuned...
