I currently have tinnitus and it's constant. It's been like this for weeks. But yesterday I had a whole day of relief just by going out on a boat with a bunch of Good mates. The fun distracted me. However today it's back. But when they said stress and lack of sleep can cause this, really has given me hope. I will be getting an MRI but this video truly has given me hope.

My tinnitus is directly related to hearing loss on the left side. (I have profound hearing loss in my family history, my mother and maternal grandfather). It is age related. My tinnitus does not start until about 3pm in the afternoon. When it does, it sounds exactly like listening to a white noise generator. Sometimes suffused with a high frequency, but rarely. I have achieved habituation. I don't think about it at all.
I am also STRONGLY AWARE that I am extremely fortunate and that most people with tinnitus have a vastly worse case than I do. I am beyond grateful. I have absolutely no trouble sleeping with it and most of the time wake up in silence. I pray that you all are as lucky as I am.

I had some very different responses to some questions. In particular, I like periods when I am in a quiet environment. I think that it is because it gives me a break from environmental noise compounded by what I hear inside my head. I predominately use a form of CBT that allows me to focus my attention away from the constant noise of tinnitus. I find that when I get asked specific questions about my tinnitus, my focus reverts back to those noises, making them problematical once again. My condition is diagnosed as heading towards severe, I nearly went mad/insane when i first realised that this noise was with me always - a form of torture.

Hi, I've had tinnitus since an ear infection that caused a blockage. Due to the pandemic I wasn't able to see my local GP to get it cleared as I hadn't got any otomize spray to clear it myself. In the end I was really desperate to clear the ear as water was also trapped inside and it was really uncomfortable. I started pulling at the ear and trying different methods to clear it at home. Once I was finally able to visit the GP and have it cleared, I was left with constant tinnitus and told that there is nothing that can be done. I've watched videos on various things like opening your mouth and pushing up on the jaw at the same time, which for me initially makes it much louder, but as soon as I release and relax the jaw it is almost silent. This is only a temporary fix. But, as the sound changed with movement of the jaw, could it be TMJ? I'm getting to a point where I feel it's really affecting my mental health. I need to get it sorted ASAP!

Hey ,, I have a question. So i went for my C&P exam yesterday and it was with a private party Doctor /Audiologist for my Tinnitus claim. It went astonishing well and he told me he was ruling in my favor and giving me the "service Connection". I was given a hearing test and he said it exactly matched the private party hearing test I was given months ago, and he said that's impossible to fake. But he also said that I have hearing loss and further said I should've filed for that along with my Tinnitus claim. He also said that if I decide to add the hearing loss claim within 3 months it would be approved and service-connected due to yesterday's C&P report he prepared and the fact that I was a NAVY Builder (BU) which is on the DOD Tinnitus presumption list. But he said it MAY not get me above the 10% threshold. So is it worth it to add the hearing loss claim and having it approved even if it doesnt raise my percentage? He also said I should go to the VA and get hearing aids. Thank you for your time .

Temp sound therapy is sounds of crickets cover-up the most. Pink noise also but has side effects that leave noise louder. Ear lobe rubs and pullings help for a few minutes but soon return.

All of these people have had normal sound level exposure. Tinnitus may be able to be controlled or tamed to some extent. But, if you have had decades of ridiculously loud (SPL) sound levels-- that is physical damage that can not be repaired even with hearing aids. I'm 68 and losing my hearing after a life time in audio. I can't even enjoy listening to the work I've done on ridiculously expensive equipment that is rapidly becoming superfluous.

I've had tinnitus since childhood ( I'm now 80) and despite complaining about it to doctors have never received any care for it. When I told my current PCP about my problem he simply made note of it and went on to something else. The advice from a "doctor" I got aged freshly 14 will probably top all the bad ones out there.... When I finally got my mother to take me seriously and go with me to a specialist, the verdict was that at such young age it is impossible to have tinnitus and that I was faking it. So, they agreed I was seeking attention and it was sorted out for them. Looking back I am very angry for if treated immediatedly with vitamins Bs etc, it could have perhaps changed something. By 16 it had worsen so much, originally in only left year and appearing when I lay down, it was now in both ears and 24/7 with getting twice as loud when trying to fall asleep. Insomnia, depression, feeling of isolation , and mistrust towards doctors. They started taking me seriously mid my twenties with the advice that yes, I had it, but nothing could be done so get used to it.... lovely

My TINNITUS went through the roof after getting COVID-19 to the point that I hear RINGING over the television. I've had it since I was 16 (26yrs of TINNITUS) but it never interfered w/ music or tv. The ringing increase happened about two days after getting COVID-19 for the first time recently. I also moved to a higher elevation (6 months prior) so I thought that might have something to do with that. I'm going to test this by traveling/ staying at a lower elevation (4,000 ft less) but for now I'm focusing on COVID-19. There were some studies to show TINNITUS increased after COVID-19. I believe this is a combined problem of elevation and COVID-19 for me. Similar to how some might believe that it's a combination of stress from COVID-19. For me that's not the case. I've had much worse stresa. Lol. W/ no TINNITUS change. It's driving me crazy!!!! 🥵 Any suggestions would help!! Never had the vaccine. Never had the ringing this loud. I highly doubt the vaccine caused this since I had tinnitus DOUBLE right after COVID-19. I have had tonnnsss...of stress and my TINNITUS never, ever doubled like this! I had a similar experience after getting sick a year ago. As far as I knew it was not covid. It wasn't extreme. I used humidifiers and made sure I was breathing in fresh air and taking medicine. I was trying very hard to get rid of my cold. Once it went away I was able to get my tinnitus to go back down. This is not the case after getting covid... I tested myself both times. The second time when the tests said I had covid the ringing double two two days later..has not changed in 8 months. oh...and after COVID-19...I pretty much I HAVE A PROBLEM W MILK...I can't talk well for a day after drinking it...did COVID-19 trigger a milk allergy? So the ringing and the milk problem happened around the same time.
EITHER WAY DIRECTLY AFTER my positive COVID-19 test my ringing doubled and my milk allergy seemed to double (it always caused my some bloating).

"negative counseling from a doctor" - so true. If an audiologist doesn't have enough experience with tinnitus patients to make any recommendations whatsoever, they are incompetent and you should find a new doctor. It's amazing how many audiologists that I've seen who have never heard the terms hyperacusis and tinnitus. Did they pay attention at all in training?

My tinnitus began after taking inhaled amikacin (Arikayce) for lung infection. The sound is constant, sometimes gets abruptly worse. I have hyperacusis, too - learned the word in the comments here. This is all depressing particularly because I am a music teacher. The doctor blamed me for "catastrophizing" when I asked if this might be irreversible. We haven't talked about it since then. I'd like at least to understand the mechanism how the medicine makes this happen. But so far there's no professional to talk to. Videos like yours help me a lot, thank you!

I remember the first time discovering my tinnitus. I am not completely sure how old I was at the time, but I believe I was around 11-12 years old (I'm 18 now). It was late at night when I was about to go to sleep, I heard a slight ringing noise and asked my brother if he heard it too. I checked my pc to see if I had turned it off properly, not knowing that this sound would stay for a long time. Since then it has become worse and louder. Honestly, I am glad I got it then instead of getting it now, as I have gone through some bad nights and learned how to deal with it.
To this day I do not the exact cause of it. I speculate it was loud music over a longer period of time as I enjoyed blasting remix songs at the time. I haven't checked up on it yet and don't know if it is worth to do it. Although, watching these videos is calming and reassuring that not all hope is gone. I enjoy watching these types of videos learning more about what I've been hearing these last couple of years. I hope everyone will get a good relationship with tinnitus as I have with mine.

I hate that I got taken for a medication called Cortexi that was supposed to give relief. It sort of worked (off and on), but a week later, and my ear is screaming, and has introduced a whooshing sound. I have had tinnitus for 15-20 years. It has never been as bad as it is right now. It's 3:58 am PST and all I want is sleep!
Note: Ive had epilepsy since 1994, and I'm wondering if epilepsy could be the cause or maybe the medication caused it to start

@@YourzzTrulyy It worked at first (like 5 days in) when I took it morning and night (taken orally). It was stay quiet for 5 hours each time, I mainly used it for sleep. After 5 days I began hearing a whooshing sound under the screaming. Also it seemed the whooshing was traveling to the other ear too (I only had it in my right ear before taking this). By 8 days the screaming was so loud in both ears, I couldn't sleep at all which is where my message came from. I don't drink alcohol, smoke pot, smoke cigarettes, or do hard drugs. The only thing I take is prescription meds. Every so often I get a loud pop which has woken me up a couple time since I've been on this. It would scare me so much, I would have a panic attack and get sick to my stomach. The ringing in my right ear went back to normal, my left ear stopped making sound, and the popping stopped since I stopped Cortexi. Maybe the drug messed with me and it won't other people, but this stuff is a rip off.

There are many “tricks” online that supposedly help alleviate tinnitus, however, I’m hesitant to try most of them. Would they make things worse? or cause a negative side effect? They don’t explain the mechanisms at work for me to understand. I was hoping that’s what you were going to get into with this title.
