Did you start the seeds and transplant them to the wicking bed or did you toss the seeds in at the beginning? Last year I accidentally started squash because I spilled the seeds in a beto bucket. Best harvest ever!

We started the seeds first. After 4 weeks we transpplanted them. I did just throw in some basil and radish seeds just to see what would happen. Everything grew great. Thanks

If l use this outdoors can you have an over flow pipe to keep the water level at a certain height?

absolutely. Use gravel and a screen about 2" from the bottom of a few 1" holes. One on each side would wok best. Just one would still work if there are no downpours.

@completegrowing5427 could l use a float valve to keep it at a constant level outdoors just below the overflow.?

Would not advise. Not needed and it is one more moving part to fail.

Thanks. Do you use 2 inches of stone at the bottom, & does the water come level with the top of the stone where it touches the perlite?

Yes, Sometimes the water was a little higher. No problem. I did let it go lower before adding water as well.
