I've got a bit of a treat for you guys today. Recently, I found this SUPER jank fighting game from the SNES that's just called Tae Kwon Do! It's got a couple of weird moves and even WEIRDER glitches. Catch me pulling the game out and trying to land my sickest combo.

why do you call it jank? its an awesome game.. and not hard to play
Yuh has one of the most rawest boss intros in gaming history.
I love how the final boss is literally a real fight, with no rules. Just two guys beating the snot outta each other, after Yuh knocks the ref out with a roundhouse that would make Chuck Norris jealous.
Honestly that's a genius final battle. It's a really brilliant way to make it different than the rest of them
The Ref got powerful roundhouse kick to face that send him flying crash into the score board Lol 😂😂
@@t.cbasey6439 It's also a nice touch how the score board gets damaged after the ref flies into it and that the boss gets a few sucker hits in before you're able to fight back. That last fight was straight out of a martial arts tournament movie.
This game has aged better than me.
He lands a right kick to the back of the head, and the ref flys _back_
Chuck Norris would definitely be proud
I love how the final boss just turns the game into an actual fighting game #LetsGoHitbox
#LetsGoHitbox
This game was actually sick. Integrating more real life rules for a game into a fighting game where winning is scored differently. then throwing it all away in the final boss fight to turn it into a more traditional fighter.
He pulled an Akuma and kicked the ref to oblivion!!
The ref just in the back crumpled the whole match lol.
@@DJKuroh ref be like "ye nah I don't get paid enough for this"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@LukeyMia4 nah, ref be like: "Nah, I get paid before all this, these mfs have TERRIBLE security... Its somebody every year, & I mean EVERY year......"
Pretty sure "Ref" has a lawsuit here somewhere 🤔
Bruh that final boss intro and plot twist was low-key the hardest transition I've seen in a long time. Very subtle but powerful I yelled YOOOO HOLY SHIT too! 👀🤣💪🏾
This needs a modern version. This is the type of fighters I'd love to see competitive.
There was a Tae Kwon Do fighting game for the arcades that I believe came out..before this? but it wasnt as good.
Because of the point system this always kinda reminded me of Battle K-Road which Justin played recenrly. And Fghters Destiny for N64 which he needs to play
@@budgiecat9039 we need a 2023 version of this. I'm all in
There's a game called Taekwondo Grand Prix, it's got a positive rating on Steam and was just updated this year with a new engine and upgrades. I've not played it myself though.
@@HighPingDrifter1 that's dope. I might have to invest in steam.
@@HighPingDrifter1 I'm watching it now and it looks amazing.
There are different ways to win:
- knockout (win just by damage)
- TKO (win by knocking down the opponent 5 times)
- points
Different characters have different stats and normals. Some characters are defensive, some offensive, some technical. I think Justin used an all-rounder type.
When any character is on critical life (stance is tired, resting hand on one knee), he can use a desperation move, dealing massive damage, points, and an automatic knockdown, but it drains the life/stamina of the character that did the move. If the opponent got another round, he can still win because you both have low life/stamina.
If you check the video, the last boss' life also goes down during the desperation move.
When an opponent is on critical life, its a good idea to keep doing jump attacks, because the desperation move's dash-forward is not invincible and can't catch you in the air.
There are moments were you are down in points and have to win by damage, and vice versa - both quite exciting.
There is also a create your character mode where you can choose your normals and can upgrade stats.
I hope this game will get more popular in fightcade.
Giveaway thanks to Hitbox in this video :)
And thanks to you too!

Awesome #letsgohitbox
Let’s go Justin!!🙋♂️#LetsGoHitbox
Hey justin do you think you could send me one? My original x360 mvc3 fighstick just stopped working a few weeks ago and i would be totally down to make videos of my progress on the hitbox. I have like 15k hrs in marvel and i grew up on an original sf2 cabinet. Let me know! Thanks brotha have a good one!
One of the things I like about a lot of fighting games from this era is that the 2D sprite art has such a timeless feel, even if the games themselves tend to be hit and miss. I understand the move to 3D models, but this is the stuff that holds up over time.
#LetsGoHitbox
Indeed. I stood with 2D sprite based games, they are simply the best, the early and mid 90s were the peak of the arcade and fighting game era, not without a reason. It depends on your flavour of course, but some ~30 years old classics kick the new ones ass with ease.
Seeing Justin going out of his normal games to learn more fighting games is always a treat. Thanks for the great content Justin
Right? I live vicariously through Justin for now. With working 2 jobs and having 2 kids under 2, I'm not really able to play or learn anything new. I've been into fighting games since 1999, Justin has actually been a part of my life for like 20 years lol. So it's like watching a buddy of mine play old school games and have fun in bite sized chunks
@@r1konTheAutomator Tell him to play Fight of Gods for Christmas week and pick the character Santa Claus. Its a must!
Damm bro, I love this game. They actually used two TKD masters, to portray the movements, so it's an early process of what would evolve and become the mocap as it is. And I appreciate the fact, that there's pretty much no TKD games out there, so this is one of a kind. If you're looking for more different stuff, play the Astral Bout game series, also from Snes.
12:22 “LET’S GO JUSTIIIIIIIN!!” the spirit of Chun-Li showed up in Wong
ULTRAAAAAAAA!!!!
Justin got a taste of his own medicine, and that medicine was the Hyokosen.
That Yuh intro was O.D!!! I wish there was more surprise intros in modern fighting games. It's a nice touch.
#LetsGoHitbox
That last boss was beating the frosted flakes outta his ass lolz
I love that there are so many hidden gem games yet to be brought to light on these old consoles!
The SNES has a good amount of obscure fighting games that wasn't released outside Japan. Games like Osu: Karate Bu, Battle Tycoon: Flash Hiders and Astral Bout comes to my mind.
Don't forget Natsuki Crisis and the Yu Yu Hakusho fighting games
Yu Yu Hakusho Tokubetsu Hen, Zenki Kishin Douji Denei Raibu (with versus password)
This game is actually kinda cool. I was a tkd champion back in the day, and the fights resembles a little of the real thing. Back and forth hits, changing stances... this games has some sauce.
Honestly never heard of this title, can see the humorous fun this would yield on a rainy day #LetsGoHitbox
yo congrats and this is not a bot!! You have won the hitbox contest! Please DM me at twitter.com/jwonggg
I like how the ref probably gets his neck broken from smashing into the score board and needs medical attention, yet everyone is so into the death match, they ignore him.🤣😂
You keep playing these 'jank' games but man, they have some really interesting mechanics. Between them they'd make for a totally different and pretty awesome fighting game if they could be balanced
Finally a SNES game. Hopefully we will get WeaponLord soon. I hope to see Justin tackle that one as its controls are totally different to anything else on the market at the time (if not ever).
Its pretty similar to Primal Rage & Eternal Champions, all 3 are negative edge-heavy when it comes to special commands
@@tedjomuljono3052 fair enough. I only played Primal Rage. Hopefully we can get Justin to play it though.
I would like to see Justin playing Fighter's History on SNES, a well done port of the first arcade original.
One of the hidden gems in SNES in my opinion. Glad to see Justin playing it. #LetsGoHitbox
The final boss fight intro is fire! Then he hits you with the Art of Fighting finisher.
It looked like a lot of fun, especially with the fatigue mechanic
Justin Wong dressed as Santa Claus is not something I was expecting to see today xD
Let's go Santaaaaa!
Santa Wong is coming to town!
Spit out my coffee when Santa Wong appeared.
Also Justin on the verge of tears "brooo..."
This reminds me of an early 90's, low-budget version of this game I heard about recently, called Chatan Yarakuu Shanku - The Karate Tournament. It was the only fighting game ever made by Mitchell Corporation, a studio formed by ex-Capcom employees, and was kind of inspired by Karate Champ, with matches decided based on a point-scoring system that gives more for more powerful attacks. There's a referee as well, who works mostly like the one here. Justin might enjoy it.
Also getting some Ichigeki: Hagane no Hito vibes, just cause of the point system and ref, though that one is on PS1 and is much more of an in-depth karate sim, with a story mode where you create a fighter, answer questions to set their stats, pick a dojo and sensei, and then progress through the belts pretty much like how you would IRL. There's even exhibitions for board-breaking and stuff like that, and all 30+ fighters are based on real people with their own fighting styles to boot. The mechanics are also unique - you can sustain damage to specific body parts and the meter at the top is apparently...defense? Not sure how it all works as there's almost nothing on GameFAQS and a lot of the footage is blurry, but there are some tips here: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/top10/2740-the-top-10-psx-japan-only-games-you-may-not-know-fighting. Also might be interesting to see at some point.
I love how they just throw out all the rules for the final btw! Great vid. #LetsGoHitbox
This was a great comment. Gonna check that PS1 game later.
Do you know if "Ichigeki" for the PS1 has an English patch?
@@Al-Ex-North-Star Unfortunately, as far as I know, it does not. You can get a ROM fairly easily though.
@@seansachs6105 I got the ROM. But unfortunately I can't read Japanese, that's why I asked about an English patch.
@@Al-Ex-North-Star Gotcha. I hope a patch comes along soon.
love seeing justin play these games he’s never seen before. it’s just something about someone learning an old fighting game and potentially finding a hidden gem that entertaining to me. #LetsGoHitbox
Can it be? A point fighting game I actually want to play? This looks nuts! #LetsGoHitbox
This doesn't look as janky as I was expecting, actually pretty fun. #LetsGoHitbox
It's a lot more simulation-esque than it appears, there's a hidden balance system where if you bunnyhop or backdash too often, you get staggered and get open for a knockdown
This is a wild game. I love that period of time before "what a fighting game is" was more standardized when you would just see wild stuff like this.
#LetsGoHitbox
Yo this game was sick. I'd love more fighting games that were martial arts sports matches. #LetsGoHitbox
You know it's about to go down and you are about to get into a boss fight when they kick the ref into the background
Daaaamn that was actually awesome i need to see the whole vod now
That intro was sick! I wouldn't mind seeing more prefight shenanigans in other fighting games! #LETSGOHITBOX
Figures, Human are the devs behind Fire Pro and Clock Tower for the SNES. Very surprisingly well done. #LetsGoHitbox
Funny thing, I recognize how the scoring system actually worked. 😅
The scoring is based on Old Taekwondo Rules which was more subjective. The premise here is that the more complex the strike you hit your opponent with, the more points you get. Body shots are worth 1 point, head shots are 2. Anything on top of those is +1, and if you knock them to the floor is another +2. From what I see, the game is limited to only scoring upto 5 pts, and there are no 4pt strikes because the complexity required for such hits often result in either a knockout or a hit to the head.
As examples:
a punch is always 1(headshots are illegal)
roundhouse, axe kick, and front kick to the body is 1, head is 2.
A jumping round variation of those kicks is +1.
A Sidekick and Turning Back Kick are both 2 points to the body, 3 to the head. (A spinning wheel kick is executed when you are hitting the head)
A knock down with Roundhouse, Axe Kick, or Front kick is a 3 if hit is on the body, 5 on the head.
A Jumping Front Kick, Roundhouse, or Axe Kick with knock down, is 5pts.
A jumping turning front kick/roundhouse/Axe kick is 5pts.
As for counters, they seem to be scored half of the complexity of the kicks they counter(rounded up).
What a lot of patience Justin has to make video about these games! I would lose it half-way though. Thanks for another fun jank yark video!
#LetsGoHitbox
This game was sick, a remaster would be cool imo #LetsGoHitbox
I love this game, a true hidden gem in the snes
Yo that final boss! What an awesome twist!!! #LetsGoHitbox
I absolutely love the jank content!
Keep it up Justin!
#LetsGoHitbox
This game actually looks like alot of fun! So many hidden gem fighting games! Cool showcase Justin! #LetsGoHitbox
I love Justin playing these obscure jank games. They're like a box of chocolate... You never know what you're gonna get lol
Love the obscure fighting game series. This one is no exception. Thank you Justin. #LetsGoHitbox
Love the content Justin especially the jankyard games. Me and my friend have been playing through your underrated recoomendations. #LetsGoHitbox
I love the hidden gems! Also Yuh gives mad Heihachi vibes and the fight should have taken place in a volcano.
#LetsGoHitbox
Gotta love the mountain of weird fighting games i've watched you try. #LetsGoHitbox
I love your videos bro. Everytime I watch one of your videos it makes me want to get better at all my fighting games that I play. Please keep up all your amazing work and turning out more and more incredible content #LetsGoHitBox
Thanks Justin, keep showing us more fighting games from the past. #LetsGoHitbox
Is it just me or does this game seem really fun and strategic? Kind of like bushido blade in a way
#LetsGoHitbox
I cant even count the amount of weird games I tried because you showcased them here 😂
#LetsGoHitbox
Watched you play this one on stream. Glad to see you uploaded a video of it! #LetsGoHitbox
This video was amazing! I can't believe you got Wong factored 😆
#LetsGoHitbox
😂That intro was wild!
#Letsgohitbox!!!
Taekwondo is my absolute favorite martial arts. Practiced it for a few years, which also made me main Hwoarang ever since.
#LetsGoHitbox
I love your videos, playing online or janky fighting videogames is so fun, keep the good work man! #LetsGoHitbox
I'm so happy you found this game! I found out about this in the early 2000s and loved it back then. #LetsGoHitbox
I love how the company just let the final fight happen
#letsgohitbox
Love seeing these obscure fighting games #LetsGoHitbox
Glad I found your channel. I've been interested in returning to fighting games, and watching your video makes that desire grow. Stay awesome. #letsgohitbox
Loving all the vids J!
Like this current one for example, I remember playing this YEARS ago over at one of my friends house. He imported a pallet of a bunch of random SNES/Genesis/Saturn/PS1/PS2 games, and this gem was among them. We ended up playing it for most of the night, along with Battle Arena Toshinden 3 & Soul Edge, lol.
But anyway, You're definitely inspiring me to get back into/play more fighting games. Hope to hopefully be good enough at #SF6 to eventually run into you and play a few matches!
#LetsGoHitbox
Justin keeps bringing out the hidden gems! #LetsGoHitbox
Love watching these obscure games #LetsGoHitbox
I had a good time watching this, fun stuff! Especially the way that wrapped up at the end. #LetsGoHitbox
Hey Ann M White! You are the second winner for the HITBOX! Can you DM me on twitter.com/jwonggg and we can talk about how to get your prize? TY ALSO NOT A WACK BOT LMAO
I've been clued in on a lot of hidden gems watching your videos, Thanks!! #LetsGoHitbox
i wanna see more jank fighting games lol #LetsGoHitbox
I've never heard of this game, I love seeing you cover these older and obscure fighting games lol #LetsGoHitbox
That is the one the best boss intros I have ever seen in a fighting game, if that is not a short it should be.
A Santa Wong is something so bizarre that fits perfect your content xD maybe you can even found an elve costume for your kid xD (and deer horns for your Wong Dog / Cat, if you have it)
I’m not subscribed? Huh, that’s weird. Not a huge fan of the HitBox, but your stuff is fun man. Subbing now.
This game looks ham! Prayers up to that ref, bro never saw it coming lol. Great content as always, long may it last! #letsgohitbox
The final boss was going all out xD hahaha good video
This game is so awesome I love it especially the last boss he had me going good job Justin keep it up
Thanks for all the awesome content Justin! #letsgohitbox
Jwong getting that money while he going to give me that hitbox haha. Happy holidays to you to playa. #letsgohitbox #letsgojustin
Ps this game got some sick and fluid animations.
A fighting game that tries to replicate real life martial arts scoring is such a dope idea... but nah, last fight just duke it out no rules! #LetsGoHitbox
Thanks Justin for all the great content!! #LETSGOHITBOX
I gotta say that I'm now interested in giving this game a try (and some others you have endured the pain for our entertainment.
Thanks for those videos, seriously, all of them are fun in one way or another. #LetsGoHitbox
Always fun content. That last boss was no joke! Thanks Justin! #LetsGoHitbox
Lol, Justin, you're hilarious bro.
When your opponent kicked the crap out of the ref, hahaha, your reaction had me dying.
Final boss with the dramatic entry, lol. I love when you find these under the radar gems, JWong! #LetsGoHitbox
Freaking awesome! You know Hamster Co., the company behind ACA Arcade Archives, registered a new patent with the name “Console Archives” so we might be getting ports of this game and Astral Bout among others in the future! Keep it up JW!
Happy Holidays! Love the channel!! #LetsGoHitbox
Damn this looks good asf. And you being a spectator to have the feel of the tournament is just wack
#LetsGoHitbox
0:03 Yuh said "F🤬k the rules, we're fighting for real!!!" 🤣
Lol the Santa voice is funny as. But love the promo
Reminds of the snes game "best of the best". You were able to choose your entire moved set. I spent a ton of time playing it in the 90s.
I love seeing you play these obscure games#LetsGoHitbox
Wow a SNES hidden gem! That boss intro though lmao #LetsGoHitbox
Watching this live was such a rollercoaster of emotions lol. Especially when Justin didn't have certainty of what was needed to win, then when he understood, then when he had to throw it all out of the window for the final boss hahaha. #LetsGoHitbox
EDIT: I can't believe you editor didn't took the chance to put Justin's face permanently during the Wong fight. :P
The dude kicking the ref and the Fist of the North Star sounds got me 🤣🤣🤣
The final boss Bruce Lee cross kicking the ref into the background is the funniest thing I might have ever seen 😂 I like the technical skill that this game requires besides the run down a health bar #LetsGoHitbox
Santa Wong u know that #LETSGOHITBOX be looking fresh, apart from my Mvc2 cab. I'm a hard-core switch player everything from Smash to Dbfz and some of capcoms fighter collections. Think any game would play great with that tho. Thanks for always keeping us entertained !
This is my favorite fighting game ever!
Get back here to Costa Rica!
We gotta fight in this one for all the marvels!
Bro videos are always great quality, hoping to get this hitbox man, thanks for the opportunity Justin. #LetsGoHitbox
Man I love ur videos, i didnt grow up on Mahvel and now i’m destroying my fingers on the mission mode #LETSGOHITBOX
I ain’t gonna hold you J. This game is dope 😂😂😂 #LetsGoHitbox
