Thank you, I just purchased this insert from JoAnn 60% off. I am in the process of making my cover using quilters flannel and minky. Thank you for the video demonstration. It makes the idea of the flap so much easier to understand. I hope to practice button holes and add buttons to close up the top. Excellent video
I just ordered one of these Walmart weighted blankets yesterday & came across this video today, (researching how to make a duvet cover for it). I'm thrilled to have come across this amazingly easy instructional video! Thank you!!
I have always loved the heavy dentist apparatus they drape over us to save us from X-rays? It's weight makes me feel instant calm, so when I had heard they use these for special needs children (the weighted blankets) I understood immediately that calming feeling and have wanted one for myself, but the alternative was always time consuming until you found this nifty filler. Thank you for always finding us the perfect tools, products, ideas!
That is a fabulous way to make a light blanket weigh a bit more, I do also like a bit of weight on me hen I sleep. Such a nice idea Laura....thank you for sharing how to make it fit so well with the ties onto the loops. I don’t know if I would get that kind here, but going to look around , I like this idea.....🌹❤️🌹❤️
Thank you! I’m definitely going to make my own cover instead of purchasing one. Any recommendations on if I wanted to add a zipper to the top flap to secure it shut? Don’t want my cat climbing inside while I’m not home!
Wonderful!! Thank you for the instructions. I see it is machine washable. I’m so glad. We just spent 2 weeks in hospital while my son had surgeries. His weighted blanket was an amazingly successful comfort for him. However, to my disappointment, it is NOT machine washable. Don’t know what to do with it now. Big investment/big loss.
I've never seen anything like it. I love the ties to keep the blanket in the cover. Brilliant idea. I love it!!!! I want one :) Wow, what a gorgeous blanket!! I wish we had Walmart here. I'm going to have to google this now and see if I can find one of these blankets here in Australia. Thank you Laura :)
@@anneyabsley6406 Thanks Anne, I did google it after I finished watching this. I see nobody sells them hey? Just online, and yes they're expensive!! Wow!! I'll have to look around though, but thanks for your input. Interesting to know they work and you got one. Thanks :)
Wow! May have to see about getting one of these. I used to love the weight of the blankets on me when I went to bed, but now I always run hot, so use very little bedding. This might be just the ticket!
THANK YOU for letting us know that product is available. hopefully our Wal-Mart carries them. easier and quicker then doing from scratch What was the original sizes of the blankets you started with? Thanks again for video.. as always.
I sleep with a few blankets for the same reason.. Ive been tossing the weighted blanket around.. And I really want one.. Do you like these better or as well as the pellet filled ones?
I thought you were Canadian, but I must be wrong. The links for the weighted blanket are for an american store in Califonia. The american site lists the heavier one at 39.99american, in canada it list the same thing as 125.00 Canadian.
I am Canadian but for the videos I try to find as many links as I can in the US and in Canada. If you have found one please let me know and I will add it, thanks

That fuzz from those blankets is now in my eyes. And stuck to my whole face
Thank you. Been thinking about making one for my grandson because he is such a restless sleeper. This will be a time saver in making a nice gift.
Wow looks amazing!!!! I need to try this !!
They have them at Joann fabrics and Crafts as well.
Thank you for introducing us to another interesting new product!
This is much easier than making the weighted blanket from scratch!
Thank you!
I'm thinking of using this with a Duvet cover. If it is to long cut and sew the bottom to quickly shorten it up. Then add your string and off you go.
This is a great project, Laura... thank you for sharing!!!
Great job. Thank you for the great instructions. I just bought 2 if the exact weighted blankets. I will be using your tutorial to guide me.

I have made one before and it was very tedious. I did not know you could buy pre-made inserts. This is great, thanks!!
Me, either.
Hmm... funny because these were in JoAnn Fabrics last Sunday and that's where a friend got one a year ago.
I'll be looking for one :) My Grandson might benefit from one. Thanks for sharing.

can it be hand washed? I would try to hand wash and lay it out flat in the sun

Really good find!!!!!
I wonder what's inside the blanket that makes it weighted since you said it all smooth and flat...?
