      there should be at least 3 DLC combined into one piece of proper full value DLC

    • @annekeener4119
      @annekeener4119 7 месяцев назад +13

      That’s because it was too blatant of a cash grab, with stuff that could only work if you had Cats and Dogs. There are a lot of other stuff packs and kits where you can pretty quickly guess which expansion pack or game pack they were cut from. Crystal Creations probably was spun off from Werewolves, Home Chef Hustle was probably spun off from Growing Together or High School Years, etc. The difference with the spun-off/cut-content packs vs. My First Pet Stuff is that they are not dependent on owning the pack they were spun off from, and may represent a cheaper way to add some interesting stuff to your game without splurging on a full expansion pack or game pack. EA is still nickel and diming players by spinning off content into smaller packs so you need more things to get a fuller experience, but it isn’t as scummy as DLC for DLC.

    • @annekeener4119
      @annekeener4119 7 месяцев назад +10

      Actually, Home Chef Hustle could have been spun off from For Rent. Given the Night Market in that Expansion Pack and the culture represented, having a career where you open your own food stall with stuff you cook yourself would make sense in the original plan for the pack. It just got cut and spun off on its own. You have to check the packs released within a year before or a year after to find the ones they probably were spun off from.

    Honestly? I think Tiny Living, Laundry Day, and Romantic Garden stuff packs don't get the love they deserve. Especially Romantic Garden. I think the items that these packs come with are really cute. Personally, Romantic Garden plants are the only plants that don't make me want to tear my hair out every time I download a build from the gallery and half the lot is filled with millions of plants to make up for the lack of actual architecture. And Laundry Day is not only cute (unpopular opinion but the clothes in this pack are some of the best and I use them for almost every sim) but adds that mundane gameplay like Satch said. I love having laundry rooms in my Sims houses. And then Tiny Living not only adds new ways of building, but it gives a REASON to building. Without the pack, yeah you can build small lots.... but that's it. Tiny Living gives you a reaaon to do it by giving extra lot buffs and gameplay traits. Plus, having the tiny furniture expands on regular building and decoration too. Sometimes I want my sims to have a lounge chair just chilling in their room like I do, but all the regular chairs are just too big and bulky (and ugly).
    Anyway, I think those 3 packs should AT LEAST be in the maybe category.

    • @Marigold11037
      @Marigold11037 7 месяцев назад +1

      HUGE agree, those three are the only stuff packs I own (and some CC versions of existing packs) and they add so much to the game!
      The laundry day objects and outfits are all usable but it gives you the choice of whether or not you want to so laundry, and romantic garden stuff has the nicest plants plus the fountain and wishing well are really nice features
      Tiny living is a pack I think everyone should have since it can be used across all the other packs. Some of the items are usable in every build and the lot perks from smaller housing helps to make builds and gameplay more challenging

    I kinda love movie stuff and bowling because I love building community lots and activity spaces for sims and care a little less about like owning/running businesses. Kinda goes with me being a family player, I want places for the family to go 😊. Toddler stuff was a waste of money for the most part, but kids stuff did help me out a lot with giving my kids things to do. The puppet show cabinet is on most of my playground lots. It’s kinda big for a bedroom but perfect for the park and I can get the kid to entertain the whole family.

    • @regeneratedwitch
      @regeneratedwitch 7 месяцев назад

      i see your point of view but don't you think it's kinda useless to spend 20 bucks for basic stuff that should've been a bigger gameplay experience? Like, 10$ for bowling and another 10$ for basically for a pop-corn machine? You see it from a builders pov but the Shit 4 is supposed to be a life simulation game :/

    • @TheDawnofVanlife
      @TheDawnofVanlife 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@regeneratedwitch Nah not a builder, I build TO play not TO build. I build for function over aesthetic when I do build and it's just a means to an end (to play in what I build or it's pointless to build). I built a three level shopping center with a bowling alley on the first floor, indoor movie theater on the second level, and food court on the third level and use it in gameplay way more than A TON of stuff packs, game packs, and expansion packs many people rate way higher.
      The thing I have actually barely used from movie stuff is the popcorn maker 😂😂😂. Just getting the Sims watching a movie is hard enough without the distraction of them eating. That being said, I use both the movie and bowling on this multi use community lot so frequently. I use this lot for adult dates, teen dates, kids and teens hanging with friends, and family movie and activity nights. Is it lame they sold bowling as it's own pack, for sure.
      But like I got cool kitchen for the ice cream maker to be honest and barely to never use it. Much like the popcorn maker you can't just leave it on a counter, cause Sims will get fixated, so it's in household inventory minus use at special events. Where as Movie Stuff and Bowling I pretty much use all the time because I built a lot that serves a great purpose for so many things when I play. From dates to family and friends outings.

      @@regeneratedwitch They are indeed overpriced and they should've been included in other packs bowling night should've been in get together and movies should've been base game but I disagree because just giving your Sims more stuff to do in my opinion is worth the money maybe not full price but how could I argue with taking a family bowling or gathering a group to watch a movie outside?

      @regeneratedwitch 4 месяца назад +1

      @@regeneratedwitch I agree with you Sims 3 did have a lot of paid stuff namely The Sims 3 store thankfully in my opinion you do not need it for a complete game and Riverview is free
      It is crazy to me how I own 11 DLC for Sims 3 which is all the expansions and I also own riverview and I can say without even spending a dime on The Sims 3 store that I can say for certainty that Sims 3 is complete I do not need all the store stuff while some of the worlds look nice I have 8 worlds from the DLC and riverview
      Now with Sims 4 how the hell do I own 29 DLC and my game still feels incomplete? that is right everything is just split up into several packs I could take my Sims to university but can't do something as small as bowling I can create spellcasters but cannot make magical crystals without another 10$ fee
      It is REALLY REALLY dumb but sadly Sim players do not really have a choice until Paralives comes out and which I pray Paralives is really really good I love The Sims 3 though there are some features from The Sims 4 that I do indeed love

  • @boston_octopus
    @boston_octopus 7 месяцев назад +10

    I very much agree, Satch. Sure wish I had your spot-on analysis before I bought most of these packs. The B-roll animation is what sells the packs, for me. The sims act like humans, interact, and line up to use the water slide. The reality is that the sims don't interact, so there is no party atmosphere. They're glued to video games on the computer, and would probably never think to leave the house to use the water slide. OTOH, I do love some of the minor things in packs that make me glad I bought them. I love the Tiny House desk and entertainment center. I didn't even know about the lot incentives until you brought it up in a previous video! I overlook so much about the game without your input.

    I think nifty knitting deserves a better score, top tier even. Knitting is a nice hobby for all sims aged child and above, not only elders. It allows gameplay to make your own clothes which can't be found anywhere else in the sims 4. Plopsy is great for selling a lot of craftables and there is gameplay integration with cottage living. It is my favourite stuff pack.
    Moschino also deserves one category up because of the photography. That's the real selling point for this pack because the clothing, just like the Moschino brand, is awful.
    Perfect patio on the other hand should be next to my first pets stuff. That pack has no point after hot tubs were patched into base game.

    After a few months of not playing I decided to come back to Sims 4 and even though I do agree most packs are cash grabs I’ll defend Nifty Knitting’s honor. The CAS and BnB is subjective, however the gameplay is really nice and can be added to different styles: if you are a family/legacy player you can use it as a hobby for your elders and make onesies for new borns and your grandparents sims can teach their grandchildren; if you want to do rags to riches but with a little extra struggle don’t sell from the inventory and use Plopsy (that you can’t cheese like Trendi) since you can sell other craftables like paintings, flower arrangements, candles, etc; and even just everyday gameplay if you want a Sim to be more rounded and knits as a stress relief or side hustle.
    Edit: since you like the gameplay of having a shop you can make a knitted clothing store.

      Because everyone tends to know it’s the worst pack, you have to already own cats and dogs to buy it so it’s dlc for dlc

      I think he’s always done that on the stuff pack rating videos. It’s such a bad pack that it gets its own tier and isn’t even worth discussing 😂

    Backyard Stuff is actually my favorite pack of all. I like the CAS. I like the wind chimes. I like the drink tray. I like the fence. I like the candles. It was made for me. Not everyone probably would like it quite like me. Someone asked me which pack I liked the most yesterday, and I said quite honestly Backyard Stuff.

    Movie hangout is TRASH! It offers nothing, and I definitely had to remove the popcorn machine. The Vintage glamor Butler is horrible,I use LittleMsSam’s mod instead. I like bowling but group bowling is buggy. I love nifty knitting, I also have a mod to make the items natural colors. Paranormal and Crystal Creation are my top 2! But crystal creation needs more male jewelry designs

  • @Denbrr
    @Denbrr 7 месяцев назад +3

    Should consider gameplay elements for all of the packs. Like the popcorn is annoying but if you can use mods, there are fixes, and you can actually sell the popcorn in Home Chef. They may have tuned it down for that stuff pack. Maybe you can make a vid testing it out. Romantic Garden has the wishing well which I think adds major gameplay elements considering you can spawn a spouse and children or have bad luck. Bowling is a great pack since it integrates with the club features to create those bowling teams and rivalries. I think the Sims 4 is garbage but I can see a lot more positive in the stuff packs than presented in the vid. Sometimes I think people really need to dig into the stuff packs on their own because EA can't be bothered to actually document everything the packs add like events, dialogue, gameplay elements, moods, activities. Moschino is garbage but there is the Photo Studio options. I would recommend Ravasheen's mods for better camera options but Moschino pack allows you to have family poses and post them in your home. I think another vid about deep dives into the stuff packs would be interesting to see what you learn and we can see stuff we missed. edited : for confusing sentence

      Yes! I feel like I have to make a spreadsheet to figure out all the things I didn't know about like events, additional dialogue, moods, careers...I don't even know what the whole list of possible additions is.

    Thanks for the video! I think your assessments of each pack are pretty fair. I have to say, though, I don't think PP is a "don't bother," unless you're not interested in hot tubs at all. The bg hot tub is fugly as heck. And nobody should buy the buggy abomination that is For Rent, full stop. I also would have ranked NK as a "maybe" based simply on whether you're interested in having the knitting skill or not. If you are, it's well worth it because the cas and bb are also decent, as you noted.

    Honestly the only thing I use out of Tiny Living is the combo tv, radio, & bookshelf. I use it a lot, but… $10 for one build/buy item? 🤣
    The tiny living lot bonuses just seem like cheats/shortcuts. If you want your game to be even easier than it already is, apply tiny home…

    I'm not going to defend sims4, because they could do so much more, but I also feel you are not creative enough in terms of what you can do with build mode. And you also only think in british, which is really sad. The Romantic Garden only use it with Get Together?? Are you kidding me? It fits many kinds of european gardens and even fantasy builds. You also said the same for the castle kit, as if there arent castles in the rest of Europe and you can build castles in Tartosa too and even in the other brit worlds. Also I think these ranking vids shouldnt be done at all, because it depends on the taste of each person. I dont really care for Halloween either, but there are people who love it for example. And also what type of player you are, a builder, cas creator or a regular gameplay one or all of them. Sure, this is your channel and its your opinion, but could lead people in a wrong way

    • @TheDawnofVanlife
      @TheDawnofVanlife 7 месяцев назад +1

      Romantic Garden is a great community lot pack. I mean I got it when it was free, but have found myself using little things from it all over my game. Also Satch's rankings are a total playstyle thing, but I hope most viewers know that. I was actually SHOCKED he gave a decent ranking to kids room stuff at all because he is not a family player really and usually doesn't like things I use literally all the time in game because I love family play.
      Also, when he tries to guess what interest family players he's usually way wrong. Cause its not his play style. So sometimes I wish he would lead with 'this is based on my playstyle' which is 'X'.

    THANK YOU for your commentary about Movie Hangout. The boho stuff is nice but it always confused me, I never understood why they didnt include cinema items like recliners, snack stands, outdoor beanbags etc etc and make a cinema like the bowling alleys from bowling night. So random to me.
