    So basically $200 for a bluetooth gamepad, got it! It should be possible to connect a logic analyzer to SPI bus of that RF chip and figure out what happens there protocol wise.
    Unfortunately it won't be possible to build your own for cheap unless the authentication/encryption keys are extracted from the main SoC..

    The main thing is that it works and it’s AWESOME!!! I’m having a blast with the Avata 2.
    I’ve also found that my signal strength with the Avata 2 is much stronger compared to A1. Could it possibly be that all the signal strength is focused on goggles only instead of both goggles and controller?
    Anyway, thanks for the tear downs. Really useful information.

    They should've slimmed the case profile and made the materials higher end. Just got the controller 3, and it's $100 over priced forsure. Compared to a PS5 controller it feels cheap, bulky, and light. The rubber on the back doesn't even provide extra grip, feels just like plastic all around. Lame DJI, Avata 2 is awesome tho, is a total rip off to charge extra to get full acro. No reason it shouldn't be much more capable out of the box. Oh, and that geo zone crap doesnt help either, FCC mode is a must.

      @@MadRC another serious question for you? Is there any concern about harmful rf signal exposure that close to your head. I would see more of a concern for FCC users due to their higher power output. It was discussed many years ago on rc groups but as pointed out then your radio transmitter was at your torso and your video transmitter was on the drone but now that everything on all bands are on your head surely there has to be a little concern.

    • @NikiPetrovAtanasov
      @NikiPetrovAtanasov Месяц назад +2

      Actually on Avata 1 I've had a few situations where the remote looses connection but the video is super stable, the drone didn't failsafe also I was unable to stop, pause or RTH as the remote was not available. So it's very freaky watching the drone flying forward in manual while have no control at all. Those breakups lasted about 1-2 seconds at most and then the signal and control came back. For comparsion on DJI FPV as soon I loose control or video the drone was failsafing, pausing immediatelly and then activating RTH.

      3. Ive literally never needed the return to home function because I know how to keep signal but inav and betaflight have very good return to home functionality now.
      4. I want to carry a gopro its much better then the O4 unit with true 24fps a proper log profile and 5.7k 8:7 ratio.
      5. You can setup an hdmi out to get video feed to a monitor and then brodcast that anywhere u need.

      8. Agressive acro = putting the drone where u need it for the shot. Good luck doing anything that takes any kind of punch and aggressive flying which is literally the entire point of fpv cinematography.

    I picked this up and I am ordering an Avata 2 soon. I'm a bit concerned that one the hardware gets unlocked this radio may not work with PNP BNF's the way that the FPV2 can. If they do ever work, users will need to have both the goggles 3 and FPV 3 for bind and fly PNP drones.What do you think?

    • @BergeronFPV
      @BergeronFPV Месяц назад

      Many of us understand this controller has no antenna on top. Infact it’s one of the main features, and the replacement as Ian highlighted in the video is nothing more than cheap rubbish.
      I think DJI is doing this hobby and community harm. No clue why but a large portion of people love DJI products.
      The second you throw that shit away and build your own quad you will literally view DJI products as scams. And you’re going to feel terrible seeing people all happy to spend $2100 on the avata 2 only to realize that it literally is incapable of flying full acro.
      It’s like I see heaps of retired older people try and pick up the hobby then get sucked into this DJI trap. Almost like watching someone get scammed but they are loving it.
