    Best review I’ve found. We’re between these two cars at the moment. Drove the leaf and LOVED IT. Test drove the MG and it wasn’t as great. Steering was firmer than the leaf. The was like using a go cart. Unfortunately the size of the MG is a lot more suitable for a family of 4

    I have just (100miles) bought my first Electric Car experience, just had a Zappi Home Charger installed but know very little about Public Chargers, not even Parked alongside one yet? I will make Enquiries from today about Charging Cards and ‘step out’ to improve my Understanding of what’s to come.
    My First Car was a 1932 Austin 7 I bought in 1958, I passed my Test in the Army in 1955 and I am now 82. I can’t possibly tell you how delighted I am to own an MG Exclusive. Thank you very much for Your very, very good Video.

    Thanks for the informative tips Mike - keep them coming. Pick up up my exclusive on 2nd March - my only worries are the bongs which have been well reported.

    Mike, many thanks for taking the time and effort in producing these videos, I was particularly interested in this video as we have now had our MG exclusive (also a White one) for three weeks having swapped a 28Kwh Leaf for it. I suspect that MG may have already addressed some of your niggles already as I can confirm that the Radio in our car stays at the same volume as when we last used it, also our car does not bong when changing lanes when in Lane Keeping Assist after indicating to do so. Interestingly I am not aware of our car wallowing, but it does crash a bit when passing over small pot holes etc. Otherwise you have described the MG perfectly well, but just as you have mentioned the bongs and horn beeps are a particular pain in the backside which MG should really address. In my view the MG is a far better car in many areas than our previous Nissan Leaf, but we do miss the heated steering wheel the though.

    Hi Mike, good review, my MG should arrive next month, you forgot to mention the price difference, after PIGG the leaf is £29290, whereas the MG is currently £24995, the best value SUV out there

    Thanks for this useful comparison. As a Tesla owner, I recently drove the MG ZS EV for a week and was impressed with all the features that my Tesla does not have. For instance, the blindspot indicators on the wing mirrors and great all-round visibility. The MG is excellent value for money, plus it has a 7-year warranty. I would not have the Leaf because its battery is not liquid cooled. I would not hesitate to own the MG as a second EV (if needed).

    Hi Mike, it's great video, Thanks for sharing a lot of information with us. I just got my MG ZG EV a week ago, but the range only shows 152 miles without heater on and 137 miles with heater on when it is fully charged, which is a little bit far from MG official range 163miles. How about your real range when it's fully charged overnight? Thanks

      At this time of year in Normal mode with heating on, Kers 3 is around 135 miles which is very achievable.

    Excellent. A really useful video for people weighing up between the Leaf and the MG. In Australia, the MG is substantially cheaper and given the high temperatures we are getting - 46 degrees centigrade in Melbourne - I was concerned about getting a battery car without a battery cooling system.

    Hi Mike, very informative video as usual, thanks.
    Would you know if there is a way to keep the digital speed displayed in the information centre (between the dials) all the time on the MG ZS EV? My display keeps changing to the active safety screen which I find annoying. I can’t find anything in the owner’s manual about this. Any ideas? Thanks.

    • @MikeProcter1
      @MikeProcter1  4 года назад

      If you have ACC or MG Pilot enabled then you have to use the left/right buttons to go back to the digital speed screen. Luckily there is an analogue display, but I also like the digital display and also find it annoying that you have to keep scrolling back. There is no way around this at the moment that I have found.

    Thanks for the video. Do you know what the KWH cost is working out at on the Octopus Agile tariff? Byorn thinks the MG isn’t regening when using the adaptive cruise control because dial doesn’t go below “0” and brake lights come on. What do you think? I think brake lights come on when in regen 3 anyway, to warn cars behind you are slowing down.

    • @MikeProcter1
      @MikeProcter1  4 года назад

      Last night I was paid to charge the car! It is too early to get any idea on costs as I've only been using the Ohme Cable for a week now. As for no regeneration when using MG pilot of ACC, Bjorn is correct.Why this is the case, I have no idea. Poor programming? taken software from an ice which doesn't do regenerative braking? only SAIC know. Hopefully they will do something about it, but I won't hold my breath. Yes the brake lights come on when using KERS level 3.

      Why did you chose an Ohme cable? MG are offering me the Rolec charger, which is free. They seem to be offering me £200 towards any other brand, plus the OLEV grant.

    May be they could do no bong when you said you are changing lanes it would be if indicate a turn then no bong.
    they could drop to one bong and give a volume level for them
    since the bong sounds the same for everything how do you know what the bongs is for ?
    for me them bongs would drive me mad i have watch nyland and his tests on MG it goes in to bong 6 time even when he is not in the car
    and he found that the car in one setting used the brakes and not regen

    You said the leaf is better on range, 0-60, aerodynamics, efficiency etc.
    I am still confused why is the ZS better choice?
    For me durability goes to Nissan(Japanese engineering) especially on UK horrible roads. They've been on this game for long.

    I'm trying to work out the best option for me, but I still don't feel it's the right time yet. I looked at the mg at dealer and just going in the showroom and guy opened the door to show us inside, the bongs kept constantly going. The guy was like....whats going on....then had to ask the other guy..it made me feel.... This car might drive me nuts..so I asked for a longer test drive, which they were not helpful. so no sale in my opinion. I went to nissan and the let me use the car for a whole day... So better start.. ....hmmmm.....I think I'm going to put a video on my channel at what I felt tbh, because it was kind of good, but also some disappointed. It might sound harsh, but it's the truth. I got a 30kwh leaf, which I already owned for 16 months now and had I not already owned that, perhaps I would have been happy. However, I can't for the life of me think why they made the some choices. Well, I can, but they shouldn't have. 🙄

    It seems the only compelling case for the MG currently is the price. To be releasing an unconnected EV which is missing even basic features like timer charge seems shoddy. My 5.5 yo Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has two charging timers and even a linkto location feature, which ignores the timer when I plug in at work. Ihave no need to pre-heat the car but you can with the app. It seems strange for a Chinese manufacturer where connected cars are a big selling point. Still it’s cheap for an EV.

      I can obtain a cheap rate on my home electricity account but only between midnight and four o'clock. To get the cheap rate I have to convert to a flexible rate which will cost me more because most of my domestic use is during the day and evening when rates are high.

    not watched video as MG wins Because Leaf don't have proper battery thermal management, 1000s of nissan leaf cars with less than 30k on the clock that now dont even do 75k on a charge, nissan should be sued oO
