@@pmsavenger Last year, during her rehearsal for the Oscars, she had what is known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA). They took her to the hospital & found she was not getting any blood flow to one side of her brain due to what is known as Moyamoya disease -- which affects mainly Pacific Islanders.. She recovered enough to do the Oscars performance (go watch that video now knowing this) because, as a theatre person "the show must go on." After the Oscars, she had a 10-hour double brain bypass operation. She had to learn how to walk, talk and write again. She says it's giiven her a new lease on life. Google Keala Settle stroke and you'll find a number of articles. We are blessed to have her among us mere mortals.
@@sampatterson3909 Holy crap. I've seen the clip already, and I just assumed she seemed emotional because it's such an emotional song, and because she's a great actress and well. All over amazing. Seeing it again, knowing that, makes it even more amazing than I already thought it were.
I'm so happy to hear she has recovered though. Her voice just blows me away, every time. I first heard this is me when Kesha sang it(during the olympics, there was this figure skating gala thing to it), but only saw the movie(and heard her version) some weeks ago. Yes I don't watch a lot of movies. And I can't get enough of her voice, I think I've gone over all of youtube for more of it.
I did wonder why I haven't seen anything new by her, but the stroke explains it. Urgh, it must have been so terrifying. I'm really happy that she's well again, I need more of her!

Keala would argue with you, she has great presence, but until "The Greatest Showman", she says she was unsuccessfully hiding from the world in New York. According to her, it is Hugh Jackman's confidence in her and pushing her out into the light that brought her this far. I'm so glad that she's finding some of that confidence because she's amazing.

I think, it being a press event, where people are expected to be a bit calmer, that was a rousing response.
I went to Hugh's show and Keala joined him on stage for a couple of songs. Not going to lie... I cried my eyes out when she sang this. It was an amazing show!
Stage teaches a "Choir Smile" I swear, I HATE IT. It is 100% great to see these girls genuine smile. I love that Hugh just keeps smiling at them like the proudest dad in the world, he all but bows to them as they're trying to perform. Their enthusiasm in both songs is absolutely breathtaking. They look so freaking proud of their involvement.

I’m in this choir, but at a younger level, because I’m only 12. Honestly, I’ve watched these girls perform just before having a concert and they try so hard, and they do so well. This is awesome!
you would be around 13-14 now, I was in camerata that year, and I'm now in performing choir, keep going, its so worth it!!

I never grow old of hearing Hugh and Keala. It brings tears to my eyes when "This is Me' and the Greatest Showman is played. Love, love, these songs.
Folks, chill. It says in the description "attended the Media Call..." so the audience is the media. I think they are programmed to be silent and record events, and ask questions at the end. I doubt any one else could watch any of that silently! Will be an awesome tour, think we need a daily shuttle from US to the site of the next show!
This is just a guess, but I'm wondering if this performance was just for the press and media to announce the tour? The lack of response from the audience could be due to the fact of them writing articles or on their devices or taking pictures. That might account for the informality of the occasion and the small crowd. Who knows? I just wish I had been there! This is a tour that I'd love to see!
Correct Lynne. I was filming for BroadwayWorld. It was a media only event and I was just one of about 20 filming plus another 30 reporters. We are all used to the fact that cameras are trying to get clean footage so we don’t make noise.

As a proud father I'm hoping that my beautiful daughter who has been with the AGC for 3+ years now will one day be able to take to a stage like this and many many other opportunities. She has the skills for it for sure, and loves it too. Also great to be able to recognise some of the talented young ladies on that stage who i have met at concerts. Very grounded, intelligent and strong women.
