Thanks for this! Remarkable stuff, the vast majority of this is pre-streaming also. Notice how she also hit every spot in the Top 10 - very few artists have done that. Holiday, a Top 10 hit in three different years only kept off Number 1 by her own Into The Groove. 8 Top 5 hits in 1985 alone, again a pre-streaming record. What a woman!
🎉 retro greetings from coastal Mississippi. Madonna is an Icon. She changed music , it's music and fashion. I have been listening to her since 1982. Thanks for music memories 😂
The UK single track listing gave you nothing if you already had the album. The remixes are rubbish, but including them would have made it a more essential buy for fans and they wouldn’t have known the remixes are shit until after they didn’t their money
@@AurumEtAes I think it's more that she released it at Xmas. Xmas is traditionally a time of novelty songs in the UK. All her songs released in December have done worse. Even "Open Your Heart" making#4 was a climbdown from "Live to Tell" (#2), "Papa Don't Preach" (#1) & "True Blue" (#1) which preceded it and then "La Isla Bonita" (#1) which came after. All of those were from the same album. "Love Profusion" would again break a run of top ten hits, making only #11 in December 2003.
Well I certainly agree with Madonna being the queen of pop for the 1980s yeah absolutely I mean for Madonna to have 13 number one that is quite an achievement may you carry on Madonna xx
Madonna is an amazing artist. Not to mention versatile, brave and creative. I wish her all the best in the future. She still makes great music! I specially adore her touching ballads (Bad Girl, I'll Remember, Time Stood Still, You''ll See, Live to Tell, Oh Father, This Used to Be My Playground, Ghosttown, Masterpiece, The Power of Goodbye, Take a Bow...)
I heard most of these, but there are some I hadn't heard in a long time such as "Hanky Panky," "Bedtime Story" and "Die Another Day." I forgot how old "Me Against the Music" was! When I heard "Popular" on a top 40 station in Orlando, Florida, USA, I enjoyed hearing her sing over an R&B beat again. There were also some songs I missed entirely because she didn't release all of the songs in the compilation here in the US.
Madonna is still the Queen of Pop. 👸🏼❤ "Get into the Groove," "Vogue," and "Take a Bow", are my top three favourites. Thanks as always for your amazing compilations. 👏
Oh, don't forget. Christine and the Queens song "Angels crying in my bed" featuring Madonna was even there in the UK weekly of the date charted: June 2023.
She really is the Queen of Pop. I absolutely love her music. 'You'll See' is such an underrated gem as is 'The Power of Goodbye'. We love her in the UK.
Madonna's most recent hit is "Popular" as she collabed with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti. I wonder how will that song peak in the UK Singles Chart this year. Last year, on the US Mainstream Top 40/Pop Airplay it peaked at #14, and on the Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at #43.
I'm a part of the generation that got to know Madonna starting from Music. I was about 10 at the time. But my favorites will always be the older ones like Borderline, Open your heart, Live to tell and Frozen.
Borderline was actually from 1984 and there were a few songs omitted. Lucky Star, 1984, Take a bow 1995. She did a wonderful thing adopting 3 kids from Africa and raising them.
In the UK, 'Borderline' only reached no. 56 in 1984. It was re-released in 1986 and peaked at no.2. 'Lucky Star' and 'Take a Bow' were not top 10 hits in the UK.
Great job. It's as interesting to note the gaps that didn't make top ten as it is to watch the ones that did. She had a run of all top ten hits from "Like a Virgin" to "Secret" ("Take a Bow" broke it by only making #16) and then again from "You Must Love Me" to "Me Against the Music" ("Love Profusion" broke it by only making #11). I think the message there is don't release in December against all the Xmas songs. All her releases in December have done worse than the ones before, even breaking a run of #1s with "Open Your Heart" in 1986. I think "Borderline" should have been placed after "Holiday", even though its 1984 charting was only #56 and so not a top ten hit. It feels odd appearing so much later. You did place "Holiday" where it first charted, even though that wasn't the highest. 1986 was a bit crazy with both "Borderline" & "Holiday" recharting and her being both #1 and #2 at one point.
I genuinely think Madonna is the only artist who could compete with Michael Jackson for mega hits. Credit to her because some of these songs will be played way after she's gone.
@@TheAmarok87 globally, no chance. Just in the UK, Mariah has only two #1s, Janet and Bruce have never had one. Springsteen is definitely more of an albums artist.
Although short clips, you really get a feel for the different styles, looks and energies she was channeling in each respective era, as well as all the major transition points for her. 1986 you can here a big change in her voice as she stops singing in that girlish nasal style and starts using her chest voice much more. Her material also becomes more serious and heavyweight and she starts to look less street and more upmarket. 1989/90 The emergance of house and dance music is having an influence on her, and she's mixing dance tracks, pop and ballads, and embracing high fashion as well. 1992/93 The house influenced sound continues, and she's playing with/challenging sexual boundaries and singing about more serious social and sexual issues. 1994/95 RnB is now in her repertiore, as is trance and ambient, and she's mixing urban with ethereal, sexual with intellectual, and using more edgy video concepts. 1996/97 Evita era! A complete U-turn for her, as she takes on an entirely different persona for the Evita film and takes on some old classics. Her voice is maturing beautifully. 1998/99 Spiritual era Madonna! Motherhood and Kabbalah, among other things, are showing us a deeper, softer, more reflective Madonna, and thats showing through in the amazing and beautiful work she's doing. Also..she's gone dark again...her natural colour! 2000-06: Queen of electronica! She's gone from ethereal to digital. Fully electronic production and establishing herself as a credible dance artist... in her 40s! I could go on but, it's safe to say she was, is, and always will be, one of the most versatile and wide-ranging performers of all time.
Leaving Warner killed her singles career. GMAYL was a terrible song to launch an album four years after Hard Candy. And then they stopped pressing any physical copies of her singles so her fans couldn’t support her in the singles chart. The streaming era seems to have left Madonna behind
I think it was the shift to streaming that hurt her chart performance most, but it wasn't helped by a choice of label focused on live performance. They actually stuffed up with GMAYL in the UK; "The low sales were due to two days worth of download sales being discounted by the Official Charts Company as a result of a promotional offer that allowed the song to be downloaded for free if pre-ordering the album MDNA. It resulted in her worst performance for a lead single since "Everybody" (1982)." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Give_Me_All_Your_Luvin%27) All her songs have charted on sales, if still abysmally low compared with the 80s, 90s & 2000s. They just then end up even lower when all the other songs get boosted by streaming e.g. "Living for Love" was top 20 (#17) on sales, but downgraded to #26 with streams. That's the single with the most promotion in the last decade - that mess of a Brits performance and everything - and yet it still didn't manage top ten. "Ghosttown" was actually getting playlisted on radio stations and probably could have been a bigger hit if she'd actually promoted it.
Yo, I haven't mention before Eminem related how Madonna is the only one who express him over his menterview so that is why she is completely overwhelmed abounded on him.
She didn't get the same backlash over first SEX and then the Iraq war in the UK that she did in the US. US charts are also based on radio and radio won't play her over there. Plus she was living over here for most of the 2000s while married to an English man.
@@gnu_andrew She got plenty of airplay here and the SEX just made her more famous. The war wasn't an issue either, but her living in the UK might be some of it. Mostly I think she just fell out of vogue (pun intended). lol Now she's gone crazy with the plastic surgery and most people just thinks she's rather sad.

Also HOLD TIGHT (#97), LIVING FOR LOVE (#17), GHOSTTOWN (#65), MEDELLIN (#27), I RISE (#40), DARK BALLET (#83), I DON'T SEARCH I FIND (#66) & BACK THAT UP TO THE BEAT (#15). From 2015, you have to look at the singles sales chart to see the continuation. What they now call the singles chart is actually a mess of sales and streams and not really a continuation of what we had in the 80s, 90s & 2000s. It drags her songs lower because people tend to buy her music, not freeload it.
If, on 31 December 2019, you told me that 4 years into the new decade that Madonna, Kate Bush, The Beatles, and Sophie Bextor-Ellis would all have top 10 hits I'd be asking what you were smoking and if I could have some...
And Wham! being Christmas #1... streaming has a lot to do with this. It's like the early 90s when sales were low and the charts were full of old songs from TV shows, films & adverts (biggest selling single of 1990: "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers, thanks to "Ghost").
Although I do respect British people's taste of music, "Live to Tell" not topping the chart, and "Take a Bow" not entering to top ten is a crime. Other positions are great.
@@somerandomguy_music it actually made #17 on sales. She's not a streaming artist and that has been the nail in the coffin after disastrous chart positions for her first album of the 2010s, where an unreleased track from a film ("Masterpiece") actually did better than most of the singles. It's nice that this Weeknd song counts as a top ten hit, but let's not be under any illusion that it's hung around for over half a year and finally briefly graced the bottom of the top ten on the back of Madonna fans. It's a Weeknd single supported by Weeknd fans, and Madonna is along for the ride. I expect that's the only way we'll see her in the top ten while she's still alive; the Elton John technique of riding on younger stars.
At 4:59, why the fudge does Madonna always pretend herself on the 2003 music video Disney Channel studios on her name title "Hollywood?" That can't be strange for her. Teens would be disastroued on the hollywood messagers under the Disney network contraction. Is this the Disney Channel's theme song just like in Disney XD of Madonna song in 2003?
This ain't no Britney Spears. This ain't no Justin Timberlake. This ain't no Beyoncé. This is Madonna is barely seen moving about her developments in the music video.
Also Give me all Your Luv would have went top 10 in the UK in 2012 but the held releasing the single digitally to sell the album . Madonna would have been the only female artist in history to had top 10 hits in the UK in five different decades (80s, 90s, 2000, 2010s, 2020s)

Bordeline
George michael next! Please!!!!
Wtf are you on about?
Is that really all of them?
Borderline (1986 ) ? Nggak salah ? Bukannya Borderline 1983
Borderline was re-released in the UK in 1986 and became a top 10 hit that year.
@@somerandomguy_music Oh I see, so I waited three years to release Borderline
Madonna songs that were not hits in America but were hits in the UK
@@anipudji599Madonna is getting older and older as she is before she dies. At the time around 2028.
Madonna akan kembali lagi cantik dan sehat sampai Madonna tutup mata selamanya ( mati) kamu jangan khawatir @@juliusjoa927
This ain't no Britney Spears.
This ain't no Justin Timberlake.
This ain't no Beyoncé.
This is Madonna is barely seen moving about her developments in the music video.
Shame she's not a nice person keeping her fans waiting 2 hours before a show no apologies so arrogant and rude
How take a bow wasn't a top 10?????
It only peaked at number 16 in the UK. In the US it was a number 1 hit though.
A bit like "American Pie" which did better in Europe than in the US.
She should've just retired gracefully than the current disgraceful display she puts on.
Why she just had another top 10 hit and a tour that made hundreds of millions
A lost corrupted soul. Sad what Commiefornia and the "industry" has done to her. Now she'll pay with her ever lasting soul. Sad really.
And in English?
She had a bit of a career slump from 1993-1997
She had tons of top 10 hits in that time and multi platinum albums. But yeah Ray of Light really put her back
First
lol after 2009 she is so irelevant.
Her albums still went top 10 after 2009.
not really a drag considering she was relevant for 3 decades while most artist can’t even last one decade
Hardly. And it's spelt "irrelevant".
Also Give me all Your Luv would have went top 10 in the UK in 2012 but the held releasing the single digitally to sell the album . Madonna would have been the only female artist in history to had top 10 hits in the UK in five different decades (80s, 90s, 2000, 2010s, 2020s)
@@MartinSmith156 "In the United Kingdom, the song peaked at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart with sales of 8,577 copies, becoming Madonna's 67th entry on the chart.[70] The low sales were due to two days worth of download sales being discounted by the Official Charts Company as a result of a promotional offer that allowed the song to be downloaded for free if pre-ordering the album MDNA. It resulted in her worst performance for a lead single since "Everybody" (1982)." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Give_Me_All_Your_Luvin%27

Didn't he stop building the wall as well as the Remain in Mexico policy?
Lol I think you meant this comment for a different video. But you’re absolutely right about Biden’s incompetence and role in the border crisis.
