WB’s rollout of the singles, especially NRM, was abysmal. It was released 13 months after the album was released. The average length of time between ROL singles was 16 weeks, whereas for True Blue, the average was 11. They simply didn’t get the single out quickly enough after ROL peaked in its first week.
Well of course lol. Features weren't that popular then and streams were non-existent. Every big pop star is acclimated to the time period they came out in. What I'm trying to say is Madonna and any other true musical legend is so much more than their chart stats and numbers. This information is kinda interesting to look at but is the least of significance at the end of a career.

Agreed. At least she was still going strong here in the UK throughout the entire decade almost all he singles went top ten. From 2010 her singles started to struggle though, barely making the top 100. I'm also surprised American Pie only peaked at 29. It reached number 1 here.

Then she had a follow up and then another and another - and then I realized she wasn’t going away. I think she is great as a performer and unparalleled for reinventing herself and for her creativity and longevity. Very average as a vocalist however.
Here's the irony. She was actually the competition to the more "successful" one-namer at the time. I'm talking about Shannon, who went to #8 with Let The Music Play, and that's pretty much it for her.

It's almost embarrassing to watch all these older artist still trying to be relevant . If these artist just stop trying to act 30 years younger and just come out with songs without gimmicks they would be far more successful. Having said that , Madonna was innovated and paved the way for many artists today. Her concert sales are unparalleled by any of the divas and that is where the money is well that and songwriting (where Mariah makes boatloads of money).
Not true! Did you see Ghosttown, Nothing Fails, Miles Away, Crave, Love Profusion, Masterpiece ect.. on the charts? Perfect example.. look at the Rebel Heart singles. BIM is the only one to chart in the top 100! And BIM was her most viewed video on YT (La Isla Bonita just recently knock it to her 2nd most viewed)

@@JUSAGUYNKY OK. I must confess some of those you listed are great in a couple of cases are better than her older stuff. I do like some of her recent mainstream stuff but I just cringe when I see a 60 yo woman wear fishnet stockings corsets, and bustiers. She's a beautiful woman and doesn't need to do all that. Having said that she always was avante garde with her fashion but c'mon.

Later in the 2000s it was bout the digital single download. Also keep in mind the music in the 2000s changed...teen bands and hip hop Music took over the air waves. Much like today. Madonna was still trying to compete with the new artists. Many of her new hits were not played on the radio. Lacked Of promotions and radio play 📻 damaged sales causing it to not be a huge hit like her earlier songs. Today on the radio we only hear the same top 10 hits from the 80s. Holiday, Lucky Star, Boaderline, Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Live To Tell, Into The Groove, Papa, Crazy For You & Like A Player. Everything Is so different than before.
