It's interesting to watch and see how different American tastes are to UK tastes. Take a Bow, which I love, was Madonna's longest run at Number 1 in the US, but it only reached the top 20 and promptly disappeared in the UK. Confessions spawned only 2 singles in the US but in the UK spawned 4, two of which were massive number 1's. She often also had singles releases in the US which were never released in the UK, which made it fun back in the day when you got little independent record stores and went in to pay over the odds for American imports.
"Take a Bow" broke Madonna string of consecutive TOP 10 Singles in UK - all 34 previous singles went TOP 10 (previous record holder was Cliff Richard with 23). At least it was a TOP 20 allowing Madonna to have 68 consecutive TOP 20 Hits in UK (previous record holder was Cliff Richard with 28).
No offense to Madonna for choosing this path, but she doesn't need to feature other artists in her work. She's strong enough on her own. For 20 years, she's been having others on her songs as if she's following them. Madonna should reinvent herself again, and become the thing to follow instead.
Madonna isn't played by the radio for almost 20 years now - mostly only dance stations play her new songs and classic hits radios play her old songs. In 2005 "Hung Up" only peaked #07 because it only peaked at #42 in Airplay (for 2 weeks - the same weeks it was #07 in Hot 100) despite being 13 weeks at #01 in Single Sales Chart and #01 for 2 weeks in Digital Songs. It could have been a #01 easily - for you to compare that year Mariah Carey "We Belong Togehter" was #01 for 16 weeks because it peaked #01 in airplay for 16 weeks as the song "only" peaked #02 in Single Sales and #02 in Digital Songs charts (after over 10 weeks at #01 in Radio Airplay Chart). Radio airplay always had a huge saying in US Official charts (unlike Europe where Official charts were always sales only).
Italians do it better 😃 "Girl Gone Wild" peaked #04 in Italy. In US almost made it to the HOT 100 peaking at #06 in the Hot 100 Bubbling Under Chart (so peaked #106).
6 #2s. Man she would’ve had 18 #1s! Also she never released into the groove which surely would’ve been a #1 in the US Other ones that should’ve been #1 Borderline La Isla Bonita Secret Don’t tell me Die Another day Hung up 4 minutes
The Power of Goodbye missed the TOP 10 by 1 week. The week after hiting #11 it would have climbed to #10 but that was the week Billboard allowed radio-only promoted singles to also chart and so the song dived to #30 instead of climbing to #10 (At the time Billboard also published how would be the chart wiithout the change).
I love all her songs from 1983 to 2023… her peak period was during in the 80s-2010….yes Madonna is a legend a performer a dancer and a singer. Hope she will live longer for her 50th anniversary (2033) to rock the world with her another amazing concert and performance. Bet she would still dance even at her 70s…👍🏼😃😍❤️ Love you Madonna ❤❤
In my fantasy she has 21 #1s ,into the groove was #1 for 4 weeks and like a prayer is the longest running #1 on the charts history which is why express yourself and cherish didnt go #1.
The singles release managment could have been better handled and she would have had an even more extraordinary chart history: How "Into The Groove" not being released as a single was a missed opportunity for another #01 Hit in 1985 (was #01 in UK)! How "Beautiful Strangers" and "American Pie" not being commercial released (charted based on airplay points only) made them miss the TOP 10 in US (were #02 and #01 in UK). How "Die Another Day" being only available as a maxi-single prevented it to hit #01 (was #03 in UK). How "American Life" and "Me Agaisnt The Music" being only available as maxi-singles prevent them to become another 2 TOP 10 Hits (were #01 and #02 in UK). How "Hollywood" being only available as maxi-single made it become her first single release to miss the Hot 100 (was #02 in UK).
Ray of light and confessions are mature masterpieces… of course a mainstream usa younger audience wouldn’t appreciate that !!!!!…. After that she’s just been the legend she is… stating issues beyond pop music. Period.
Had much more to do with radio not playing her that much. "Frozen" was the last time Madonna reached the TOP 10 Airplay Chart in US peaking at #08 only. "Hung Up" only peaked at #42 in Airplay (for 2 weeks - the same weeks it was #07 in Hot 100) despite being 5 weeks at #01 in Single Sales Chart and #01 for 2 weeks in Digital Songs (it was 13 weeks at #01 in Maxi-Single Sales Chart). "Sorry" peaked #01 in Single Sales and #56 in Digital Songs - it never even made it to the TOP 100 airplay - as 2010 Billboard said "Sorry" digital song sales were 366k units (it also sold around 50k physical singles in 2006) so it's much likely already elligible for a Gold Certification in US. "Get Togehter" peaked #06 at Hot 100 Bubbling Under (so #106) almost making an entrance in Hot 100 - didn't have much airplay not charting on airplay and also missed the Digtial Songs Top 100 chart but peaked #02 in Single Sales (physical singles). "Jump" peaked #05 at Hot 100 Bubbling Under (so #105) almost making an entrance in Hot 100 - didn't have much airplay not charting on airplay and as the previous ssingle also missed the Digtial Songs Top 100 chart but peaked #01 in Single Sales for 2 weeks (physical singles). Madonna end up being the #01 Single Sales artists of the 00's Biilbboard Decade End chart being the artist that sold more physical singles in US during that decade as all her single releases that decade peaked TOP 5 on Single Sales Chart and 9 were even #01: “Music,” four weeks (2000) “Don’t Tell Me,” one week (2001) “Die Another Day,” 11 weeks (2002) “Nothing Fails,” one week (2003) “Hung Up,” five weeks (2005) “Sorry,” one week (2006) “Jump,” two weeks (2006) “4 Minutes,” two weeks (2008) [Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake) “Miles Away,” one week (2009)

Madonna hasn´t had a true hit in the Netherlands (where I live) since ´Celebration´. But American Life, Confessions and Hard Candy where insanely popular. Nowadays I still hear songs from these albums in grocery stores. So weird to see that in her birth country she was pretty much ignored. Rebel Heart also deserved much better. At least it was a TOP 20 allowing Madonna to have 68 consecutive TOP 20 Hits in UK (previous record holder was Cliff Richard with 28).
Thanks
Gracias Madonna por todo lo que nos das y dejarás...por tu esfuerzo y tu gran trabajo... admirable e increíble 👏❤🏅
Love you Madonna.
Skynet with a manual cutt off switch is good to build now ? Right ? Where is your heart? Severly out of balance in such a case.
Have got fusion reaction working. Flight motors power generators etc. Its good stuff.
Many songs were underrated.
No offense to Madonna for choosing this path, but she doesn't need to feature other artists in her work.
She's strong enough on her own.
For 20 years, she's been having others on her songs as if she's following them.
Madonna should reinvent herself again, and become the thing to follow instead.
It helped her get radio airplay when (American) radio decided she was too old & stopped supporting her.
she is 66, she should retire
She has more energy than your sorry ass

WOW Bedtime story and Human nature are my all time favorites never realized how poor they did
very underrated. my 2 favorite songs off of Bedtime Stories album, also.
They did better in UK Charts:
Bedtime Story #04
Human Nature #08
She had some good songs from the MDNA and Rebel Heart albums, those were actualy quite fun! Cant believe girl gone wild didnt chart here
Those albums are awful.
Italians do it better 😃
"Girl Gone Wild" peaked #04 in Italy.
In US almost made it to the HOT 100 peaking at #06 in the Hot 100 Bubbling Under Chart (so peaked #106).
6 #2s. Man she would’ve had 18 #1s!
Also she never released into the groove which surely would’ve been a #1 in the US
Other ones that should’ve been #1
Borderline
La Isla Bonita
Secret
Don’t tell me
Die Another day
Hung up
4 minutes
Hung Up was #1 in sales but radio didn’t get behind it like the rest of the world did: Ageism.
and without payola unlike Whoriah
Me encanta la Reina del pop, sobre todo la década 80s ...sería interesante hacer una lista con la princesa del pop...SANDRA🖤

I have like weird young memories of my mom blasting Madonna and this video made me think of her alot. :)
Amazing job
Bet she would still dance even at her 70s…👍🏼😃😍❤️
Love you Madonna ❤❤
Confessions deserved MORE I mean 4 minutes is in a commercial now took America 15 years to “get it” 😂😂😂
Celebration went number one for 10 weeks on MY chart btw!
It did peak #01 in Italy, Finland and Bulgaria. It peaked #02 in European Hot 100 (and in France too - in UK peaked #03).
Captivating, thank you, well done 🏳️🌈💙🏳️🌈
👑
If the SoundScan Era started in the early 80s Madonna would've had 50 number ones.
Shame that Into the groove wasn't released as a single in US. An easy #1
Thank you so much for this, this is AMAZING!
In my fantasy she has 21 #1s ,into the groove was #1 for 4 weeks and like a prayer is the longest running #1 on the charts history which is why express yourself and cherish didnt go #1.
"Into The Groove" was #01 for 4 weeks... but in UK 😉
The singles release managment could have been better handled and she would have had an even more extraordinary chart history:
How "Into The Groove" not being released as a single was a missed opportunity for another #01 Hit in 1985 (was #01 in UK)!
40 Years in the charts and people come to say that Lady Gaga is the Queen of pop😂
Time proved that Lady Gaga was just a 2010's trend. Today she is literally nothing compared to Madonna's legacy.
Why y’all comparing women now?
@@ahsantehabari comparing women is bad but comparing men is ok? is it what you're trying to say??
Gaga is more focused on acting now which makes sense since touring and performing is brutal on an aging body
@@lovelypolishperson5566when tf did he say that? Are you being dumb on purpose
Phenomenal. Thank you.
well done, thank you!♥ It be interesting to see the Worldwide chart it be a lot different for some of her singles.

Queen of POP!
My top two songs by Madonna: This used to be my playground and Bedtime story❤❤
Take a bow is her best song!!!! Idc
No
Thank you amazing 🙏 well done 👍. Καταπληκτικό 👍
Madonna end up being the #01 Single Sales artists of the 00's Biilbboard Decade End chart being the artist that sold more physical singles in US during that decade as all her single releases that decade peaked TOP 5 on Single Sales Chart and 9 were even #01:
“Music,” four weeks (2000)
“Don’t Tell Me,” one week (2001)
“Die Another Day,” 11 weeks (2002)
“Nothing Fails,” one week (2003)
“Hung Up,” five weeks (2005)
“Sorry,” one week (2006)
“Jump,” two weeks (2006)
“4 Minutes,” two weeks (2008) [Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake)
“Miles Away,” one week (2009)
We can make another 20-minute video with many other songs that have marked an era and that have not been released here:
Gone, I Deserve It, Inside Out, Intervention, Love Makes The World Go Round, Love Profusion, Nobody's Perfect, Pray For Spanish Eyes, Promise To Try, Rebel Heart (feat. Avicii), Triggering, Where's The Party, White Heat, Amazing, Broken, Burning Up, Dear Jessie, Future Lovers, Ghosttown, I'm so Stupid, Impressive Instant, Jimmy Jimmy, Love Song, Paradise (Not for Me), Revolver (feat. Lil' Wayne), Runaway Lover, Sorry, Till Death Do Us Part, Wash All Over Me (feat. Avicii) ... and more

Anti Madonna DJ"s in USA back in the 90's and 20's.. and Madonna still our female music queen .. Love you Madonna !!
I'm still surprised her song Ray of Light didn't hit number one on the chart. In 98, I remember hearing everywhere.

Legend
Madonna hasn´t had a true hit in the Netherlands (where I live) since ´Celebration´. But American Life, Confessions and Hard Candy where insanely popular. Nowadays I still hear songs from these albums in grocery stores. So weird to see that in her birth country she was pretty much ignored. Rebel Heart also deserved much better. The atrociously auto-tuned ´Bitch I´m Madonna´ did chart, and a great beautiful song like ´Ghosttown´ didn´t. How does that happen?
Good job indeed, thanks for the vid ❤
It's cool if you add chapters ♥
Done :)
Just bought tickets for her Dec. 16th show in NYC!!
waste of your money
i saw her in ams it was great
she's an icon, a legend, and she IS the moment!
She was the moment but hasn't been relevant in over 20 years. When was her last #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts? I can't remember either.
@@sashaqueenie You are so pressed with Madonna in these comments. Mind you she has a song in the top 15 of Spotify Global right now and scored a 40th top 5 hit in the Uk in 2023, and let's not even mention the amount of times her old catalog has gone viral on tik tok and her sold-out world tour. Better luck next time trying to drag the most successful woman of all time buddy.
Love it
Into The Groove is a glaring omission in this discography.
Because it was never released. In 1985 she had too many songs in airplay, she saturated the airwaves.
@@MG-yj6pu It was, here in the UK: it even has a video made up of "Desperately Seeking Susan" clips.
Then again, this list refers to her AMERICAN Billboard Chart history, so I see your point.
@@MG-yj6pu As I recall, "Into The Groove" was used as the b-side to the "Angel" single. At the time, everyone bought that 12", to own "Into The Groove". The video for "Into The Groove" was shown on US television quite a lot. It was the excitement for "Into The Groove" that really excited the public, for her 2nd album.
Great job ❤
living legend
There are few mistakes. E.g.Hanky Panky and vogue are from I’m Breathless album. There is more but I don’t want to demotivate you.
Great and interesting job❤
gotta say, I love Madonna, there’s about 5 I don’t like on there, sure I didn’t hear ‘into the groove’ and ‘dear Jessie’.
"Into The Groove" and "Dear Jessie" were not released as singles in US.
"Into The Groove" was a double A side 12" maxi-single with "Angel Remix" (only 7" singles were allowed to chart in Hot 100) and it became the best selling maxi-single of the 80's decade according to Billboard decade end issues - it was also #01 in the Dance Club Charts for 4 weeks in US.
"Dear Jessie" was never released - instead they released "Oh Father" in 1989 and "Keep It Together" in 1990.
In Europe "Keep It Together" was never released as a single while "Oh Father" was released in 95/96 as a single from the ballads compilation "Something To Remember".
Her Rebel Heart album was wildly underrated IMO.
Some great joints on that one.
17 consecutive top 10 hits… the first artist to ever achieve this record until broken my janet jackson with 18 consecutive top tens. but still that’s good!
