Great as always. The British bands were outstanding, and the Motown stuff was great too. Marianne Faithfull had a beautiful voice in those days. "The Crying Game" is a classic -very haunting and poignant.
Most of these songs are familiar from my early years, a few years later. My mother had a collection or would listen to the radio. She would scoot me outside while she cleaned the house or after I went to bed. Distant memories from a different time. Thank you. ❤️❤️
Even though I was a baby when these songs were released I know nearly all of them. Music really blossomed in’64. A great decade of music. I didn’t realise Mr Lonely sung by Akon was a cover

It’s interesting how the music was so very similar. This is the year I was born. If you listen to the music turning 50 this year you will see such a HUGE diversity. It’s very interesting.
Type the title of any song that you like into Wikipedia, and as often as not you'll find it is a cover - sometimes of something from decades earlier, from someone nobody's heard of! (Or of course a classical piece.)
Finally the last video on songs that turn xx years old this year. I'm happy that you put When I Grow Up (To Be a Man) by The Beach Boys because I was quite surprised that this song wasn't on the Hit Songs of 1964 video. Thanks bro and looking forward to upcoming videos on the way!
Loved this video, thank you so much! 🥳🍀 I would love to see a medieval/folk rock video through the decades one day.. Maybe? 🥳🥳 Lots of love from Germany 💐
I had no idea “Always Something There” was from the 60’s - I thought it was an 80’s anthem! With a bit of research, I found it was actually first sung by Dionne Warwick in 1963, then covered by Sandie Shaw in ‘64 who brought it to #1 in the UK; then Naked Eyes brought it back to the charts in 1983, twenty years after its debut. Each rendition sounds completely different stylistically - they're all compelling in different ways and they're all worth a listen!
I also didn't know the Supremes’ song and Pretty Woman(the most covered song ever) were that old either. Out of curiosity, what's your favorite decade or decades of music?
It was written for the film (1963 I think), one of the series of comedy films (might have been the first one) starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau. I think the cartoon character was a spinoff from the one originally just in the title sequence of the film (the Pink Panther character of the title was a suave jewel thief, played in the film by David Niven). Enjoyable film, if you get the chance.

At 75 - some (many actually) are still my favorite, It's time also to remember Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" on full display with the Righteous Brothers. I remember all these songs. Actually, I have them all on a USB stick in the car - - - Hmmm, think I'll take a walk "Downtown" in my small town, it's been redone over the last couple of years and revived.
I was rocking out to all of these songs five years after their release date, when I was a toddler. Well my parents listened to this stuff, so technically it's true.
You've done an awful lot of work putting these videos together - finding them, for a start! One of the things I like about this period is the early stereo - often just two completely seperate tracks. You hardly ever get that after about 1970.

I hate to disapoint you but the House of the Rising Sun is much older that 60 years old. In fact it may be as old as 160 years. That is at least according to a video I watched here on RUclips. This particular version of the song maybe 60 years old. But the song itself is MUCH older.

These songs are really timeless, and still hold up after six decades. I love how a lot of these tunes are Motown.
Motown had so many dope acts from the '60s and onwards like The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Lionel Richie, The Jackson 5, etc.
1964 was truly an epic year. Beatles, Beach Boys, Supremes, giants of music.
The year when British bands began to gain huge popularity. I still can't realize the flow of time. Such oldies goldies.
60 Years!!!!! OMG..... Total Classics!!!!
They get better with age.

50s and 60s music is the greatest - thanks for these compilations.
This is just a little before my time… but man, the 60s had some of the greatest music right down the line. I love it still.
I remember that I played my dad's albums of the 60s/70s. I still play that music all the time. ❤
Triggers a lot of memories not often thought of.
Thanks For Sharing!

Great music and happy times, thank you Random!!
I heard these songs on the radio in the '70s!❤❤❤❤
So glad I grew up in the 60's golden decade of music 🎶 👌 thanks for the nostalgia SRG🎉❤

These old songs spark my old soul. these songs have been sampled in many other genres of music. hip hop, r&b and others.
1964 was the year for several things: The Beatles America Invasion. The Beach Boys best year. Bossa Nova international breakthrough.
Even though I was a baby when these songs were released I know nearly all of them. Music really blossomed in’64. A great decade of music. I didn’t realise Mr Lonely sung by Akon was a cover

1964 changed the world as we also experience the rise of British Invasion such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
They way they dress, it really looks like almost all of the 60's rock bands went to the same prep school.
I was waiting for this playlist, the year I was born, the big 60 this year 😊 I grew up with these songs and they are timeless. Thankyou SRG ❤

Great year for music
One of the most significant year in pop music, probably world music in general.
It’s interesting how the music was so very similar. This is the year I was born. If you listen to the music turning 50 this year you will see such a HUGE diversity. It’s very interesting.
It seems I'll never run out of songs I didn't know were covers. Today they were The Crying Game and Always Something There To Remind Me.

Dusty did it too (I think also about 1964), as did even Cilla!
I didn't know the Pink Panther theme song had been out for 60 years. It sounds very recent.
Me neither, just goes to show how timeless it is. ❤️

I’d forgotten how many songs had parentheses subtitles back then. 😂
You forgot Simon and Garfunkel The Sound of Silence was originally released in 1964.
The original acoustic version was released in 1964, whereas the remixed version (the one that became a number one hit) was released in 1965.
I only know 3 of these... my goodness. Viva Las Vagas is legendary and iconic
Your a youngster. Theres 3 i dont know. LOL
Indeed I am. I am 34 and half and I grew up with these. Anyway, you should listen to them if you get the chance, they are so iconic.@@donnasmith3969
Can you make song turning 10 years old please?
The Zombies were so ahead of their time.
do a 65 years old one next
Excellent compilation.
BUT; You should have made each song a little longer...
They are to short to add a like...
Sadly I can't use longer song snippets due to copyright issues.
I know these songs 🥰
They were such rebels … sixty years ago.
What about Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me"??
That one turned 60 last year as it entered the US charts in December 1963.
