Back in the 90s I had a friend who was a Communist, and he was exactly like this Ned: from Brooklyn, with same style of glasses, hair style and beard.
A friend had a college roommate that was a committed Communist, who even had the Soviet flag hanging from the wall! No joke.

Agreed. I think they could have used him for the episode where Elaine is trying to get that supreme flounder delivered outside of delivery zone.
Her getting black-listed in this episode is the reason Hop Sing(and their hilarious employee) won’t deliver to her, although I’ll admit I had to go back just now and check that The Pothole had a different restaurant for the supreme flounder.
