This kind of supports the theory that William Hartnell left Doctor Who more to difficulty keeping up with the demanding schedules and being difficult to work with by the end of the run of that show in 1966 rather than being so ill he couldn't remember his lines. The fact he gave a solid performance 3 years later and was hardly on his last legs so to speak proves this even though this was a small part.
Brilliant to see William Hartnell, in one of his rare television appearances post Dr Who, playing Cliffs dad. And a very 1st Doctorish pose near the end of the episode where he grips the lapels of his jacket. Only thing missing was the pair of check trousers. Strangely enough, Cliff Richard was considered as possible travelling companion/assistant prior to Dr Who going into production back in '63. The part, of course, eventually went to William Russell.
Great to see this in such good qualty. Cliff and The Settlers.recorded an album featuring all the songs from this underated six part TV series from 1969 but it was never released. Thanks for uploading. Do you have the other two surviving episodes?
Great take on the prodigal son parable with Cliff playing the son.
