As a Polish teenager in the 1970s, I became a big fan of Led Zeppelin, Yes, King Crimson, and especially Deep Purple. Years later, my playlist expanded to include such names as Beethoven, Debussy, and Chopin. Now, I'm deeply moved watching this video, where one of the greatest contemporary vocalists presents one of the greatest 19th-century composers. Thank you, Mr. Gillan. Chopin's music, which for Poles expresses the Polish soul, loving beauty and freedom, is played with delight all over the world. And Poland has been independent for over 100 years.

Many thanks to Ian Gillan for this super video! As a fan of DP, of Ian in particular, and as a French classic piano player, I am twice enchanted. During my last visit in Poland, I pranked my polish friends pretending France just decided to claim the Chopin spiritual heritage (after all, Chopin is a French name, not a Polish Chopinowicz…). My polish friends believed me and I eventually had to confess my stupid joke!
@janpanufnik1705 Why not? There is many famous Polish People, who well served in world's sience and culture. Sir Pawel Edmund Strzelecki, Ignacy Domeyko, Michal Oginski, Stanislaw Moniuszko and many others.
Great short film from 2011, Chopin is one of the greatest piano composers, and it is fun to see Gillan in a project like this. We can think that piano is a percussion instrument as it has hammers to create the sound from the strings, so it was indeed Chopin's talent to make the music flow more melodically in his piano compositions than what had been achieved earlier.
I need to go and see Poland and it's greatest son. I've met so many lovely Polish people in the UK. But there's also J S Bach, to me possibly the best musician who ever lived, Sartie, the enfant terrible, maybe not. Amadeus Mozart and of course Verdi. I want to see all their home towns and places they played. Music is a language and these men were poets.
