Because the Fisker Karma weighs about 5300 lbs, it accelerates to sixty in about 6.5 sec. which is plenty quick. This is a very nice car that requires gassing up very rarely. Personally, I prefer the Tesla Model S Performance. It is less expensive, more practical, smoother, quieter, safer, better quality, much more useful, never EVER uses gas, is much faster, handles better, etc., etc. That said, the Fisker Karma is a very nice, beautiful, really cool sporty car.
The Tesla Model S is selling quite well, and the response to the car is overwhelmingly positive. Tesla's electric technology is cutting edge. Not everyone can own an electric car right now for various reasons. However, there are many that can and will buy electric, provided they are actually good cars. I predict that electric cars with remain upper segment cars until batteries become cheaper, lighter, and even more powerful. Wait, this is a Fisker video and I'm talking about Tesla. LOL
There are gas stations everywhere vs very limited access to battery chargers. Filling up with gas takes a minute, the "super charger" still takes at least a half an hour (if you can find one). Until there is charging station infrastructure like there is with gas stations, gas will always be more practical, period. That being said, they're both awesome cars!
Why any car practical when you can only go as far as the gas tank full before stopping? The advantage is the huge amount of cargo space, a hatchback design with folding rear seats, a frunk, a more intuitive and capable touchscreen interface and free supercharger access which will recharge your car in less than an hour.
@terrado7 oh yeah, it got the Finnish some Jobs,(making good euros) they built the car for 30K and they will sell it back to us for 102 thousand.. (base model).. Awesome right?
There is an argument. You're just dismissing mine. I and others who have driven electric have found it to be more convenient for day to day driving. There is a mental block against people buying an electric car. The perceived limited range problem is not a real issue for most people. The real issue I think is the price. The Nissan Leaf is not price competitive with cars in its class. This is the biggest reason people are not buying them. The Tesla Model S is on par with cars in its class.
Lithium air battery technology may make 1000 miles on a single charge a possibility, but packing that much battery in a vehicle would add too much weigh. A 400 mile range at 80 mph with Supercharger access would be perfect.
As long as you have an accessible charging station which pretty much means you have to live in a house. Having a charging station running outside into the parking lot from your condo/apartment isn't really going to be feasible, acceptable or CONVENIENT. Therefor gas still wins for many reasons in the convenience department. Until electric gets some decent infrastructure, gas is still light years ahead of electric. Thus the reason everyone is still driving gas and not electric. Period.
Using gas is only more convenient when taking a long trip in excess of the Model S considerable range. During most usage (90% or more), the Model S is far more convenient. It is always full when you wake up, and it will take you anywhere you need to go on a daily basis, unless you have an extremely long commute. You will never be late because you had to stop at the gas station. Reading customer reviews from the Tesla and Fisker is like day and night. The Fisker Karma has too many compromises.
There is no argument to be had here. If electric was more convenient we'd all be driving electric already. It's not and until it is gas will be our primary fuel source because of its convenience and infrastructure.
How is the Tesla more practical when it you can only go as far as the battery will take you? Not being able to travel more than a couple hundred miles without at least a 6 hour recharge is NOT more practical. Too much opinion in your statement, not enough fact.
coolest care ever

@XxAWSOMExXLAMBOXxRS yes, just in case of blind people driving around, at least they can hear the car!

Is this the worlds slowest 406 bhp car?! Every video I've seen, it doesn't get passed 40 mph!
Tesla Roadster FTW.

I don't understand what pleasure it is from driving a soundless car..
sound of a jet engine
It does sound like a soft electric guitar doesn't it?

Don't be jealous that smart cars look like fat bugs and this is a supermodel
jealous that a smart car is a microcar and not a sleek sedan? LOL
a sleek sedan cant be 8 feet
Anyone else think it looks like a 4 door Maserati GT because of the long nose?
