It is not a hybrid... It is an electric car with petrol generator. That generator is indeed an engine, but it runs on far lower RPM because it doesn't power the wheels, hence it burns a lot less fuel to get an amazingly high MPG without range anxiety. That is the most practical electric car ever.

I wonder if Fisker looked into a gas turbine to run the generator? Turbines don't work as well for stop and go but they do work well for holding an rpm as in running a generator! I don't think anyone would complain about the sound of a turbine!! Even though turbines would work very well running a generator you have to make sure you have the right turbine if not the efficiency would be very bad as not all turbines get good gas mileage but if the right turbine were chosen would be a nice match!!!!

How is it hideous? Other than the odd looking 'hatch' design, the profile and front fascia looks Porsche all the way. The interior while not as fancy as the Karma, has quality materials and build quality. The Karma I can't bring myself to like. The gaping maw just doesn't evoke the same emotion like the front of an Aston. The reliability is also a concern, especially when it breaks down during testing at Consumer Reports, to which no car ever has before.
The Fisker has good drivetrain, but the car looks (and even in real life) looks hideous. Even the Porsche Panamera looks nicer in the exterior. The interior I think betters the Tesla Model S. The overly large screen is a hit & miss: The GPS is nice and large, but the climate controls are insanely small. The smaller screen on the Fisker looks less ostentatious in that regard. But I can't get over the odd styling of the Karma. I take the Model S. Or a Panamera Hybrid.
The Karna looks like it was either over-styled or paid little sense to natural aesthetics. The gaping maw of the front grille looks hideous. The side profile looks completely confused, which swoops ups & downs with no real design direction. The Panamera, despite the oddly proportioned hatch, actually resembles a lengthened hatchback/coupe design, and is relatively a clean design. The Karma feels like modern art = "that is art?"
shit on tesla S! a big advantage of the fisker is the possibility to load the battery with the gas motor! 300 km from the tesla is not enough for many people. and the tesla S is a ugly car if you compare it with the karma!

it's only 32 miles on batteries, and anything over is only rated at 20mpg. It's a pretty terrible car compared to a Volt or a Model S
