I dig the music for this video. I feel like I'm at a Bar Mitzvah lol Or maybe it's a Briss....showing a clean cut on the "Deck" 😆
Right on!
Maestro!
That speed square must be one of the handiest tools around. Nice trick!
Yeah right!
I'm going to have to try my muffs upside down now.
Pretty slick right?
Nice job man, I don't know if you ever do this but I don't like to screw those last two boards down and after I mark the overhang out I cut those last two before I put them in.
Fast and easy.
I hope I don't come off like a critic but I was wondering why you gapped the deck boards. Have they been pre-shrunk or something? I build a deck four days ago and the planks were so tight that I had to stand on the last two of them pinched up like a triangle and push them flat into the rest of the deck. 2 or 3 days later there was at least a 3/16 inch gap in every one of them.
One other thing you can do to make your decks look even nicer than they already do
-it looks like you ripped the last board down to about 3 in.
you can run 4 or 5 of those deck boards through a table saw at around 5 in or whatever the math works out to that let's you finish with a 5" or 5½"deck board. It looks a lot nicer than a small rip against the structure. It looks nice if you ever have to picture frame the deck also.
If you run a ¾ or ½ round over bit in a trim router after you cut the ends it starts making that deck look sexy.
Nice job, it looks good. I just thought I would share those ideas with you in case you hadn't heard of them. I'm not throwing shade man, I'm just throwing it out there. Good video
'And then I free hand the cut' - aaaand I'm out. I can't even free hand cut paper with scissors in a straight line.
Wait what I can't free cut paper scissors in a straight line! Way harder that is
