The full live set video was premiered on the evening before the annual Piano Day worldwide celebrations (March 29th). The motivation to make the recording of the live performances which became the release ‘Live from Studio S2’ came from the invitation from the Berlinale Film Festival.
“I decided to rearrange some of my favourite songs, which I have been performing live for years. Recorded live and captured in the iconic Studio S2, one of the recording studios of Polish Radio in Warsaw. The hall is fully covered with light wood, which reminds me of other Radio Studios all around the world - like Funkhaus in Berlin for example. There is a kind of intimacy when playing the little piano in this huge and also very high venue.” - @haniaranimusic
“In the beginning of February 2021, I was asked to record a live set as a part of EFM sessions, which are the part of the Festival. I thought that bringing back my piano and equipment to the hall where I recorded my live session videos for my debut album 'Esja' would be a nice idea and the right cinematic choice. The iconic Studio S2 is one of the recording studios of Polish Radio in Warsaw. The hall is fully covered with light wood, which reminds me of other Radio Studios all around the world - like Funkhaus in Berlin. It felt very special to be in the hall where we recorded a video for "Glass", one of my most liked videoclips. There is a kind of intimacy when playing the little piano in this huge and also very high venue.”

I tell you what's awesome. To be a serious listener of music for most of my 65 years and to still be able to discover more great artists every day.

Absolutely.
*You* are awesome for having the open mind to still be able to experience that! I hope to have the same attitude when I reach your age.
maybe joep beving is something for you too. enjoy :)
I'm pushing 60, just discovered this amazing young artist, and am thrilled to agree with you, what a pleasure, what a time we live in...

Or do you mean you discovering the internet is a thing?
It's one of the things that make us grateful for life and fact that we can listen and feel music
And if you use Brave as your browser, you dont get ANY commerciels..... NONE!!!
Thank jesus for the invention of the Internet technologies. Even if sometimes i think that ufo made this technology for the U.S.A. it's to good technology for evil human to make we know only how to build war and automatic pistols for killing. What in the World did I just listen to? It is like a stream, a river, carrying you and liberating you from the rigidity of your own perception. It rebuilds your thoughts while you're thinking. It is like you are dissolving into yourself. I can't find the words...
This lady got talent. Honestly I thought, classic music was boring and obsolete. This proves me wrong.
This is contemporary..not classical
This is not a woman playing a piano, this is a soul united with the gift of music who has a piano as an extension of their being. She is one with the instrument and is guiding us through the journey of the storyline with her magic.
You speak the truth thanks spot on
Beautiful 🌻
Nope this is a woman playing piano lol. Nice poetic language though!
I felt really moved reading what you wrote here
@@AshleyBloom13 🙂💖
Hania Rani is one of those rare artists who has seemingly mastered the technique of restraint. She's always keeping you held on by a single thread, never giving anything away too early.
Not many other artists with such a beautiful voice would wait 15 minutes to start singing- and yet, by taking her time to establish the instrumental world first, she allows just enough time for us to forget about the human voice, making it even more enchanting when she finally reminds us.
She's truly a genius composer of modern classical.
restraint is within you mate, play the piano and be free
Completely agree! She's incredibly controlled especially around velocity and has created such interesting compositions! Her voice is such a pleasant surprise too! 👍 Love the layering, it's absolutely fantastic!
I'm feeling the opposite. To my profane ears this music translates as unrestrained and self indulgent. She's promenading up and down the keys with an ethos and abandonment that don't match the blandness of what's coming out. I'm rating her high on the BS scale :)
@@Desuetus And that goes to prove you've got profane ears.
I don't want to argue. But if you you've been reading children's books all your life, how are you going to appreciate poetry? No way
huge spoiler!
I dont know what for a Magic spell she use but I always need to cry when I hear her music and thats actually amazing and Im unbelivable thankful for it :)
She's just a polish woman. They came to this world to heal us all with love.
I'm late to the party, having only just stumbled across Hania for the first time today. I still have tears running down my face, and the video stopped 2 minutes ago. It's rare that I discover music as moving and emotional as this. I'm now going to fall down what I suspect is a very deep rabbit hole.... Beautiful beautiful stuff.
Ten out of ten to the videographers who were able to get us all up close and personal without intruding on her personal space. That took genuine skill.

Heavily agreed.
There are piano players and there are virtuoso and then there's this.
She's not playing the piano, she's being it. Makes you actually forget it's a piano. Just amazing.

"...and enjoy this little set" ... How humble can you be? Great set and pleasure to witness.
She is a 21st century genius. She is playing what she hears in the heavens when her mind leaves her body (watch her gaze). 😭 .. And I don't know why I cry when I listen her music.. I don't know..
I completely agree. Her phrasing and harmonic progressions, mixed with ethereal electronics is just heavenly. She really is one with her music and it is just a gorgeous soundworld

Guys, let's also acknowledge how amazing the technical production on this video is! Great job Mateusz Miszczyński, Agata Dankowska and Piotr Wieczorek! This is beautiful.
I'm as inspired by their work - and I'm in ruins over her work - altogether, collectively, a masterpiece.
I beg to differ, yes the camera work is quite good (movements, composition, focus, bokeh, etc) but the editing... bleh... they wanted to create an intimate look, the "beeing there" feeling of a live performance, but some cuts reveal either multi takes or heavy post-processing (like the artifact between 1m54s and 1m59s: an oscillating piano, swinging back and forth! See the AKAI mixer being deformed too, in its attempt to follow... Please, stop those computer gimmickry. Oh, and the disappearing rock on the synth at 7m17s ... Back on the keyboard at 7m39
@@physiqueDrummond right, and at 9.01 she touches her hair while the right hand arpeggio continues playing magically. The music is great though, on line with Yann Tiersen, very pleasant to listen to. Somehow less sophisticated than Agnes Obel, but still I listen to this quite often.

The video may have been great, I don't know, I listened with my eyes closed. For such beautiful music, the video would have been too much of a visual distraction.

I have been a serious and passionate lover of music for 60 years and I love all types of music.
All flavours of rock music, metal, blues, jazz, country, folk, bluegrass, cajun, hawaiian, newage, world music, and I'm a big lover of classical music. I am also a musician and been playing guitar for over 52 years. I especially love guitar and piano music.
Like you I'm still able to discover new artists, musicians and music almost daily.
I live for music. It's the only drug I need to keep me happy (and the odd glass of wine).
Breathe!..... I am from the other side and this brought me back to this side.....
This is one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen. As a professional musician myself it's hard not to appreciate every little detail here and every note in this performance is there for a reason. She really puts her heart into it, beyond magical... still she seem so humble afterwards. Man, I am glad I stumbled upon this today, today is a great day. Peace
Let's hope the artists stay themselves and humble also after they're famous.

Totally. Duprez, Palestrina, Bach, Mahler...Rani.
Does that mean you do not like composers like Hans Zimmer or Yann Tiersen?

@@IamLove55 But not all people who play musical instruments can reach that spirituality in their music, on the contrary the most cannot.
I love how she plays the piano as a percussive and melodic instrument simultaneously.
That is pretty much the definition of piano.
Every instrument is a percussion instrument☺️
@@mikeyodonell7036 If I was twelve or Garth, I'd say, "you're a percussion instrument"
@@mikeyodonell7036
Yeah, especially the flute and trumpet...
Good point. She does not play the piano in a traditional way in this piece. I usually think of an acoustic guitar as having the ability to be more of a percussive instrument than a piano because you can use your right hand to play rhytym and get percussive sounds.
She is one of the best improvisational pianists I've ever seen. She has an incredible ability to create intuitive music.

I’m 70, never really looking for new music but it finds me, through kids and the (mostly) amazing internet, and so happy to be found. This post is amazing and I’m awed by Hania’s creativity. Many thanks💜💕
I just read an article in the NYT, I think, about why are so many people revisiting our generations music and loving it so much. But it’s always been so. In the 70’s we listened to Stevie wonder, pink Floyd, the white album etc, but many of us also loved and sang and performed, or tried to, Ella Fitzgerald, cole porter, Beethoven and Bolero. I bless the internet daily for how accessible everything is, from Bach to Radiohead. And now this beautiful sound
I listen to all that and was born in 82. If you're a real human I send you love and respect. If your bot, fuck you.
Wow, thank you for sharing your wisdom. I do often have the thought "man the music of past generations was SO much better." But I guess maybe that's because we've had more time to love it, but that doesn't mean modern music won't be remembered in the same way one day.
Thanks for being so staight forward life is so simple if we are following our own heart and feelings

@@godiegolem Had a long talk with some friends on this subject and we came to the realization that it isn't that music today won't be remembered because it is "bad", but that instead there is just so much out there that some of the artists with the most talent and vision are swept by without us realizing.

Speechless. This beautiful woman is a testament as to how we need to allow our children to discover their creative selves wholeheartedly....by breaking the rules and experimenting. This child is a true angel and as Mako says "was kissed by the music of god". I am also hooked. This kind of creativity, if multiplied, and expanded, holds the secret to a new and better world.
Yes, and I feel that this world IS coming. The degrading industrial muzak is dying. This kind of freedom and spontaneity of expression is the healing and inspiring music of the next Age.

I discovered Hania Rani just over 2 years ago, purely by accident looking for my friends sports broadcast on ESPN. I was immediately mesmerized by the unique and beautiful music. My range is from Foo Fighters to YoYoMa and I’m an old rocker. Hania is my goto music now for the past 2 years and have seen her in Europe and back to LA, changing our travel plans just to see her in Milan. I've been listening to her music constantly while absorbing myself in art projects and I'm so glad I found this music...
Oh my Gosh! Sooo beautifull performance... I know, this comment is not really neccesary for the rest of the world. But i hope, Hania reads it and she smiles about a little bit and got back positive feelings for 5 minutes. That is all i can do for giving me 26 minutes of awsome music. Hania - do your way, you are AWSOME! :-)
A masterpiece to say the least i know cause tears are streaming down my face❤️♾️For the Love of music and beautiful souls as this.
From South-Africa: Absolutely Brilliant!
At such moments, words lose their power.
This is exactly the kind of musicians required for a decadent world like this. Thank God for your talent and your beautiful music. Than you!

Einfach fantastisch, diese Klänge berühren die Seele....
exceptional, unique and original sound1
It is not her playing music, it is the music playing her. Amazing, fantastic, I have never heard anything like this.
find her nad Dobrawa Czechor
@@ewapater4546 It's Dobrawa Czocher, the chellist, I know her too.
In Rome the called this genius - a force that takes over the artist and creates using him as a device ;)
You may enjoy Nils Frahm, Air and FKJ.
This. This is exactly what is happening here.
I don’t know what just happened…. I heard a note played repeatedly with an unorthodox muting technique I’ve never seen. A voice spoke and I was taken back by how gentle she sounded compared to the pure emotional storm from her music. A few notes on an analog synth were played and a stone was placed to sustain a rhythmic note and an arpeggio played.. She sang as well. Today is a good day.
If you like how the piano soundet you should give gogo penguin a try. Raven is one of my all time favourite tracks.
If i could send a thousand thumbs up. Wow she is magical.
exactly! i thought her voice would sound so mature and womanly
I was kinda surprised when the rock teleported back to its original location at 7:17. WTF?
@@kevincrady2831 you noticed too?
The first song ❤
this music really heals like medicine .Quality timbres of modern times✨😌
Absolutnie niezwykłe i poruszające. Przesiąknięte szczerością i emocjonalnością dźwięki przynoszą ulgę. Niekiedy popłynie łza, ale to tylko potwierdza powyższe. Dziękuję za to.
What beautiful words
Sums this up nicely
