    What in the World did I just listen to? It is like a stream, a river, carrying you and liberating you from the rigidity of your own perception. It rebuilds your thoughts while you're thinking. It is like you are dissolving into yourself. I can't find the words...

      Indeed, it is so freeing that it is difficult to adequately describe with mere words.

    Hania Rani is one of those rare artists who has seemingly mastered the technique of restraint. She's always keeping you held on by a single thread, never giving anything away too early.
    Not many other artists with such a beautiful voice would wait 15 minutes to start singing- and yet, by taking her time to establish the instrumental world first, she allows just enough time for us to forget about the human voice, making it even more enchanting when she finally reminds us.
    She's truly a genius composer of modern classical.

      I'm feeling the opposite. To my profane ears this music translates as unrestrained and self indulgent. She's promenading up and down the keys with an ethos and abandonment that don't match the blandness of what's coming out. I'm rating her high on the BS scale :)

      I beg to differ, yes the camera work is quite good (movements, composition, focus, bokeh, etc) but the editing... bleh... they wanted to create an intimate look, the "beeing there" feeling of a live performance, but some cuts reveal either multi takes or heavy post-processing (like the artifact between 1m54s and 1m59s: an oscillating piano, swinging back and forth! See the AKAI mixer being deformed too, in its attempt to follow... Please, stop those computer gimmickry. Oh, and the disappearing rock on the synth at 7m17s ... Back on the keyboard at 7m39

    I just read an article in the NYT, I think, about why are so many people revisiting our generations music and loving it so much. But it’s always been so. In the 70’s we listened to Stevie wonder, pink Floyd, the white album etc, but many of us also loved and sang and performed, or tried to, Ella Fitzgerald, cole porter, Beethoven and Bolero. This makes me want to “do my own thing” more than ever, not caring what people think, like she’s giving me permission to just play the real music in my heart, even though it might be different than what people want and expect from me.
    Total aside: I hope “my own thing” sounds a little bit like Hania!

    Hania’s music is the most intensely beautiful and moving modern music I have heard. Genius on the level of Miles Davis and Johann Sebastian Bach. Thank you Hania Rani, So grateful for this!

    • @edwardmurphy8622
      @edwardmurphy8622 9 дней назад

      @ Yes! I’m sure not everyone will think the same but as a long term fan of both those artists, I find the combination of (some of) her compositions and playing to be deeply moving and complex in ways which very few artists attain. We still have a few other living virtuosos like Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock, but Hania hits an emotional chord that I only get from JSB and MD. Dig Deeper (maybe ‘F Major’, Glass, Hawaii Oslo (live) and most of ‘on Giacometti’)

      My sentiments exactly. Listening to this reminded me of the movie "Koyaanisqatsi" made in 1982. That movie made me think no other movie can live up to it. It is not even using the medium in the same way, somehow. It just IS.

    I don’t know what just happened…. I heard a note played repeatedly with an unorthodox muting technique I’ve never seen. A voice spoke and I was taken back by how gentle she sounded compared to the pure emotional storm from her music. A few notes on an analog synth were played and a stone was placed to sustain a rhythmic note and an arpeggio played.. She sang as well. Today is a good day.

    Absolutnie niezwykłe i poruszające. Wsłuchując się w Twoją twórczość, mam wrażenie, że trafiam do zupełnie innego, lepszego miejsca na ziemi. Dość nierealnym wydaje się fakt, że w kraju pogrążonym w ciemności i nieszczerości powstaje coś tak czystego i bezpretensjonalnego. Przesiąknięte szczerością i emocjonalnością dźwięki przynoszą ulgę. Niekiedy popłynie łza, ale to tylko potwierdza powyższe. Dziękuję za to.

    Dieses Stakkato in Verbindung mit dem melodischen Spiel, und dieses melodische Spiel in Verbindung mit dem Stakkato - es hat für mich eine Stimmung, die ich mit Aufbruch titulieren kann: Wehleidig und gleichzeitig auffordernd.
