  • If you are looking for The Best Crabbing Spots in New Jersey, then we have you covered.
    For the past seven years the Contino Crabbing Commission has been coming together to catch as many crabs as possible. The group or person with the most crabs gets to walk away with the Golden Crab trophy!
    Join the Contino Crabbing Commission as we go crabbing in Wildwood New Jersey in our annual event.
    New Jersey’s crabbing laws haven’t changed much in the past few years so we are limited to two non-commercial crab pots (but we will be using a ton of hand lines and traps). [In the state of New Jersey you do need your craving license if you are placing out crab pots]
    Where is your favorite spot in New Jersey to catch crabs?

    Wow Joey you got it together Picasso. I'm 65 and been crabbing in South Jersey since the 60s. Those Flounder backs? I used to got to the fish factory in WW and get a bucket of those fish heads and scraps for $1.And That hook you got to dredge for your traps if you loose them. I had 1 exactly like that for that purpose. I actually dove into the bay in 6 ft of water and retrieve my trap. LOL Hey Joe I found MACKEREL are better then BUNKER. Both oily fish the Crabs love BUT MACKEREL Hold together longer and better then bunker. Bunker falls apart and the KEEPERS can tear them up in just a short time. In 1982 on my 14ft boat we/ and Lobo My friend caught 17 dozen Crabs in September that year. Most I ever caught. I averaged about 8 dozen Crabs per 6 hrs crabbing. I miss it. Haven't been in 20 years. God Bless and Good luck Joey✌😎🙏

    Just saw your fantastic video! Brings back such great memories of crabbing and fishing off LBI in the 60s & 70s lol. We used to catch some monsters in our traps and handlines. You guys did great! I live in Somers Point, about 40 mins from Wildwood but I know WW very well. Thanks Guys! BTW- you have a new sub 🙂

    OMG! Your killing me... I'm out here in the desert wishing I was hanging with the Contino's. I really miss the Jersey Shore! I LOVE crabs and I would eat anything you have left over. My family shore house was on the causeway, so we would crab right off the bulkhead. Not as successful as taking the boat out but, more relaxing. Keep up the great work. I love your videos and they really help a Jersey boy out here in the AZ desert. Btw, I wore my CCC shirt while watching the video.

    • @WildwoodVideoArchive
      @WildwoodVideoArchive  Год назад

      yes, If you are fishing under 150 feet of water (0-149 feet) you have to have those orange keepers in place - If you go back in the video you can see those orange pieces on my commercial traps.

    • @jhoydis1715
      @jhoydis1715 Год назад

      Your also not allowed to use commercial style pots in waters less than 150 wide and need a permit to use them at all with your license number on the buoy.

    DO NOT KEEP YOUR CRABS IN WATER! They will DIE because they need oxygen! Keep them in a bushel basket or cooler with ZERO WATER

    Caught the most crabs years ago while working in a Philly slaughterhouse. One of our guys got some tongues and left them on hot roof for 3 days. He poured blood on them twice a day. Even after we double bagged them they stunk to high heaven. Caught a 5/8 bushnell of crabs. Did the exact same thing following year and only caught a few legal sized crabs.

    • @billdaddario8800

      My Father would use tongue. Keep them in a sealed bucket. Hated when he opened that pail.

      @@billdaddario8800 The ones we had were loaded with flies & maggots due to sitting out on a hot black roof for several days. Several times while working on lights would try to grab into something while on a worn out shaky 10' stepladder and grabbed onto one of the tongues hanging on tree hooks. Felt like very rough sandpaper.
