I preordered HeartGold today. Thank God. It's very, very seldom that I'm this excited for a video game. I don't care if it's a remake -- it's a remake of my favorite generation of Pokémon RPGs, and Nintendo's last set of Pokémon remakes, FireRed and LeafGreen, were masterpieces.

Been around since Gen I, but Gen II was by far the best and my favorite. Played all 3, Silver was my first but Crystal my favorite. Still remember the day I got my Typhlosion up to lvl 100 for the first time.
I prefer the music of Gen 1. Every song is iconic and it's just such a classic. Gen 2 is great, far better than the newer games, but I've gotta say I don't think it did too well in the music department. This song and New Bark Town however are the exceptions.
No other game evokes such a strong melancholy and nostalgia like Gold/Silver. I was 10 at the time of its release and it felt like the greatest adventure of my life. There is no other franchise that evokes that awesome feeling of getting your starter and setting foot in this huge, gigantic world

I am a 13 year old russian boy, and I started playing Pokémon Silver a few weeks ago. I've defeated the E4, got to mt. Silver, but still haven't beaten Red. After every time I lost to Red (or E4, but I've beaten them from 2nd try), I was getting to Olivine and cheering myself up with this music. 2nd generation is incredible! Plot, music, new Pokémon... this game is my waifu now!

When i hear this as an adult, its hard to explain what i feel... its sort of how i imagine a kitten would feel getting picked up by the scruff of the neck. Like being transported somewhere without really knowing whats going on. Its an awesome feeling.
This makes me remember the days when I trained Chikorita to level 26 just because I was scared of Falkner, and raging when Growlithe used roar on me before I could catch it.

It's as if the world around me disappears and I'm back at my granny's house surrounded by all my late elderly relatives, in front of the fireplace, playing my gamebody while everyone does his own stuff. I remember playing this in 1999 (or 2000) back when Pokémon info was very little on the internet and being convinced by a schoolmate that there was a secret Pokémon in Bellsprout Tower. Of course there wasn’t, but the feeling of excitement was indescribable. I’m glad I grew up without Bulbapedia.

i played through silver last summer, and i remember when i got to this city i had a bad cold. i felt really dizzy and nauseous, but i wanted to keep playing. i now associate this song to when things aren't going so great in life, but i know they're gonna get better soon. i find that this theme sounds both sad and worried, but hopeful too.

Dude, the rival theme in BW is not shitty. The Sword & Shield rival theme sounded far worse because it sounds horrendous and it's a complete joke, Paper Mario: Sticker Star's boss themes sound way better then this trash that Sword & Shield had.
