Mine too haha... I was 9ish and rode it with my dad. Went on to enjoy all of them once I broke the fear. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Absolutely love this Arrow Dynamics coaster. I grew up in a military family moving around a lot growing up and have been to a decent amount of parks and ridden their coasters. In my opinion I feel like a good portion of people have a really exaggerated negative opinion on "vipers" roughness. Viper was my first ever major coaster as a kid so it will always hold a place in my memories. I just rode "viper" again acouple times on July 13th and both me and my closest friend found "viper" to be Incredibly SMOOTH. No head banging anywhere on the ride. One of the best Arrow Dynamics custom loopers.
Andrew Hart Yes. This is my 2nd favorite Arrow looper next to Loch-Ness-Monster. Both have been running incredibly smooth for their ages. Just try to get near the front on Viper especially, as I rode in the back row last time for experience, IN THE RAIN. It wasn’t as fun as the last time I rode it. Probably the roughest part of the ride is the Batwing, that’s really the only spot where I got head banging. Other than that, this ride is great!
Love this coaster. Sure it's tame now, but was big back in the day. This was also my first coaster I ever went on, so it holds a special place in my heart.
I don’t live here anymore, but when I do come back around I visit the park. Im so glad Six Flags is taking the initiative to restore the classic rides there and maintain them for future generations. Retracking Predator and painting Boomerang yearly and repainting Viper Black proves to me Six Flags values Darien Lake’s history.
Ii remember when this opened in 1982. I fell in love with it after my first ride, in 1985, my high school took the seniors for a day at Darrien Lake. A whole bunch of us got on The Viper, and it started raining, We didn't care. We came back to the platform soaked, but the operator asked if we wanted to go again, and we gave unanimous approval. We went 5 times, one right after the other, with the last run finally without the rain. That was probably the best coaster experience. It gives me joy knowing that Six Flags has kept that coaster and it looks as fun here as it did 39 years ago.
I rode this the first year it opened in 1982. The Viper is a smooth ride and there will always be a special place in my heart for this coaster because it was the first looping for me, but it's not very energetic in comparison to the other coasters I've ridden over the years.
Viper. First saw in 2017 this is a ride that look scary and I thought “ i wanna never ride this ride” but now im going to ride my first looping coaster. But although theese are the remaining looping coasters out there.
thank god for these videos. i'm a baby with an anxiety disorder and i think my heart rate went up just as much watching this as a normal person's would've on the actual ride
My first real roller coaster that I’ve ever been on, I don’t go to Darien lake often despite it being my local park but I went there on a band field trip with my school and my friend convinced me and I was terrified the first time but once we got off I later convinced the rest of my friends to go back on with me, absolutely love this ride except for the part where it throws your head back and you hit it hard on your seat, that parts not fun
A nice size arrow that looks nice and they keep it repaired well (even with the past 1-train operation nonsense), it's intense when going through the 2nd and 3rd inversions but otherwise it's actually pretty smooth and not jerky at all like some older steel coasters. In other words, it's yet another underrated arrow roller coaster. Hopefully it stays around for a long time still given it's more a mid-size then a giant (since everyone keeps taking them out, getting rid of vortex at king's island and great american scream machine at sfgadv is just insulting to park goers).
Looks like just the right size for an arrow. The larger ones are too painful to ride. But it’s got that feel like the big ones with the boomerang brakes corkscrew and helix combo!
@@justsayn8929 Yea. They took it out years ago. It's rotting away in a storage area in the parking lot. What sucks is that it was the last of its kind in operation.
This ride is less intense than I remember it. Then again, I was 10 when I went on this roller coaster. That was nearly 8 years ago. Still, I remember it feeling much faster when I was actually on the ride.
This was my very first coaster. I barely made the height. If two new trains were purchased and it was repainted and given a good once over for track and brakes to be done...this would go back to glory. The station needs a cleaning and paint as well.
This was both the first roller coaster to have five inversions and three different types of inversions. Considering Darien Lake was only in its second year of existence, this is astounding.
Jet six flags, can you please consider retracking viper at magic mountain or at least move it to one of your smaller parks. I love that ride. It's historic as being the tallest looping coaster at the time and the LAST arrow mega looper in existence. That ride has a amazing kayout and with some track work and new trains it would still be a worthy coaster to have. If not can you please offer it to me before you scrap it. Let me know how much you would want for the ride and I'll arrange a company to move it. Thank you.
I used to do the maintenance, & inspections of the Viper, the best part is that you have to ride it every day at the end of the inspection. :D I lost a LOT of weight climbing those stairs every day. Got some great pictures from there.
Probably my new favorite rollercoaster here. I was scared at first but it wasn't actually that bad. Pretty nice. However the restraint kept hitting me in my ears. It hurt
Is this a smooth Arrow looper like Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood and the Loch Ness Monster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, or could this use the new restraints like what they have on the Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia?
Sounds like it. I think some other Arrow/Vekoma coasters that could use these restraints include the Vortex at Kings Island, the Anaconda at Kings Dominion, the Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Demon at California's Great America and Six Flags Great America (unless you think they're too small of coasters for that) and the Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis. Can you think of any others?

The scariest thing for me on this was the sound it made going up😂

The clicking, is the anti-rollback system, in case the lift chain would break, the system would prevent the train from rolling down the lift hill.
