Extension will not effect the torque. Especially at 15 ft lbs.

You are over thinking your issues.
Your coolant leak shouldn't be that hard to find. Also your trans is a tuning issue.
Looking for a 6th gen Camaro
The most valuable lesson I learned at Ron Fellows Corvette school; stock cars race all day and modified cars are often down for repairs.
I’d regret 1,300hp too. 1,400 is my base minimum.
Amen brother
😂
Fastest C8, in the world every stock c8 zo6 will turn faster laps on a road course! And you can’t drag race with your stock transmission and it’s going to get spanked roll racing ! It’s not the fastest at anything as far as I can tell
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Somehow I feel this is one of those situations that begs the question "WHY". Whats wrong with a 65 Corvette with a 396 built to say 600 HP fun beautiful car you can buy 3 times for the cost of the monstrosity you have there. No offense to the people that built it or you as well, you are a nice guy, but come on Dude this is a 1300 HP pile of fiberglass splinters when you launch it into a SUV. I am now too old and too practical
My gripe isn’t the fact a race car has problems not even the fact that it’s 1300 hp. it’s that Chevy made that new vet way too expensive and it’s been having issues even stock let alone modified. Probably has a fried piston ring or head gasket and probably doesn’t have the twin clutch pack from Dodson or it’s not tuned right. Jesus bring that thing to infinite performance or max effort tuning and they will make that thing right.
I think your knock sensor was tied to your mixture problem which caused the smoke along with the E85 fuel. I believe that slight rev up on the shift is a clutch pack slipping.
I haven't hit the hi boost switch because I am a chicken🤣😂. I respect you. Everyone wants a 1000+ horsepower car but doesn't realize the amount of attention and prototyping goes on. Some day you will get there.
Steve Morris and the Torque Test Channel have shown that using a hand torque wrench and straight extension doesn't affect the torque reading like it would on an impact
@12:14... No, using an extension does not affect the torque reading. Before the RUclips technicians spout off, I'm an ASE Master Tech and have been for over 20 years. Also Torque Test Channel here on YT just did a video proving it. @13:00... Another reason why I always buy manuals on my sports cars. No tuning needed. @14:20... You definitely need the Dodson clutches at 1300HP. Emelia had to swap hers out at 1k. She was drag racing her car on slicks though. Slicks are much harder one the clutches than street tires. Even with street tires, at 1300hp, you're definitely going to get clutch slip at WOT. @18:00... R34 GTR? You know Emelia just got a Bayside Blue R34.
Anti-seize doesn't matter either.
Thanks. I’ll go watch that video.
@@xephael3485 Yes, it does. Anti-Seize can cause you to over torque by over 100%. So, for example, applying it to your wheel studs and setting the wrench for 100 ft/lbs can cause the lug nuts to actually be torqued to 200 lb/ft. Go watch the video. They used 14mm bolts to simulate wheel studs.
@@aaronbritt2025 next you'll be telling me a peanut butter and jelly doesn't mix. Are you a 20-year French chef too?
@@xephael3485 Instead of making comments that you think make you sound smart, watch the video and educate yourself. The dyno doesn't lie.
After knowing you and watching this video only one thing comes to mind: C U Next Tuesday or Thursday. You get the point. Use a radiator pressure tester when the car is cold to find the coolant leaks.
Just FYI, you can double tap the remote start again to shut the car off while it is running via remote start. So, you don't need to do the bypass way and open up the rear hatch to stop it.
I have seen experiments on torquing using short verses long extensions, (six foot) never changed. Good video, you don't put enough content out there. Need more video's.
The first thing you need to do is sort out the knock sensor issue. Don't worry about 15Nm, or lb/ft, on an extension. Because modern transmissions are electronically controlled, engine performance will affect their operations. Fix the knock sensor problem, you might have to connect a computer to re-learn the transmission adaptive and go from there. As for the coolant leak, you may have to drive the car and get it to full operating temperature, and then put it in the shop, remove the belly pans, and place cardboard under the car over night. The belly pan removal is important because they might catch the coolant and drip it away from the actual leak.
Head gasket leak. That's what it sounds like to me. Plus, you get a drip every once in a while, which could also be coming from the head gasket. Just a thought.
Very good point!
Also keep in mind that your coolant leak may be nothing more than AC condensation drip...
Very good knowledge of the car would tell you remote start remote shuts off with the same button
I know two guys who have had transmission failures in their C8 ZO6’s with low miles. Good thing one guy had a fire extinguisher because the transmission caught on fire.
I was going to say you need to run E-85 if you are running a 1300 hp Twin Turbo car. E-85 does have a sweet corn Mash Whisky smell, because that is what it is!
15 lbs-ft torque? Man put the knock sensor in and tighten it like any other knock sensor.
Our Mack semi trucks leak coolant when it’s cold and it sits overnight. Once u crank it and run it they go away. We fix them and they come back. But it’s pretty common on these old semi trucks
“One day in Mexico.” 🤣🤣🤣 Spoken like a true RUclipsr🤣🤣🤣
Torque Converter Lock up .. If Rubber coolant hoses are failing.. Replace them with Braided Stainless Teflon Hoses.. they can be made at a local Industrial hydraulic hose suppler..
Very good tip!
There's no torque converter on these cars, they're dual clutch (automated manual).
@@billiam247 Good Point .. Computer controlled clutch engagement and disengagement needs to be programmed to work quicker and more aggressivity then . I had forgotten that the C-8 has a Dual Clutch Transmission? Is that the only Option for the Transmission?
I didn’t elongate on this. They are braided lines.
@@mikeskidmore6754 yes, the only choice is DCT.
Good thing you are realistic and understand that modified cars become unreliable, and problematic. There will always be problems… like bad head gaskets with all that boost. I wouldn’t use that high boost switch without making sure you have plenty of cash available for more repairs.
Also the chiller can push condensation through the intake manifold which would explain the white puffs. I have a chiller on my tt car and was warned of this. I’m in az though so the low humidity keeps mine from building condensation. So depending on your humidity levels and outside temp you could have some issues. Just a thought. But e85 will also collect moisture as it sits so could be a combination.
Thank you Mike for all the info
On your build!!!!👍👍👍
We always create problems for ourselves by wanting more of this and more of that. Good luck to you. I am not a fan of attached garages.
An extension doesn't affect a torque wrench, as long as you don't use a swivel out of 90 degress.
I work in the fire protection industry and I would be happy to come out and talk to you about your fire extinguishers and give a lesson on a weekend, if you would like for me to email you. I have noticed a small 2.5lb fire extinguisher at your front door and that does not meet the fire code for a commercial setting. You need to upgrade that to at least a 5lb ABC.
Could the exhaust smoke be from E85's higher water content as opposed to normal gas? Usually higher ethanol gas doesn't do well sitting without separating. It helps to keep the tank full so there is no condensation in the tank that adds to it. E85 really should be for daily drivers.
Torque spec will be the same even with an extension within a very small amount it won’t be much different, there has been several back to back tests done with this
If you have a coolant leak you don't have smoke you have Steam. Replacing a Turbo is right up there with replacing a brake Caliper and a bit more complicated than replacing spark plugs.. Glad you enjoy doing and it and glad you don't have to pay a Dealer $150.00 per hour to do it..
Watch steve morris video on torque . Extensions dont effect torque . He explains it very thoroughly . Good luck
What kind of “man” pays for a 1300hp upgrade and drives it like a Prius…..🧚♂️
The C8 manual says not to use E85, and any 15% Ethanol fuel, it voids warranty.
Coolant inside your turbo no bueno. Love the car but hate that wrap
Is there any oil in the coolant from the turbo. That will eat the rubber hoses quickly.
Reminds me of Bentley owners complaining about their 500 oil change, said no one ever
So it makes youwonder if theres a happy place with turbocharging. Where do you stop to have dependable fun?
Might want to ask Steve from Late model racecraft. They do alot of c8 modifications.
Try changing the transmission fluid first. Who knows what formerly owners did… bought a Ram Rho
I've built a lot of cars. I usually sell them shortly after finishing them.
maybe it is small, melted bits from the coolant line getting into the motor and burning?
creating unneeded strife......
That is true for sure.
You bought a Baojun E300 fresh from the showroom.
30 degrees in Mexico? Ok.
You need to listen to your Handler
Where do you have it insured? I’m looking to insure my poopra, I’m in it for 161 now 😂😂
U need 2 watch emelias headaches she had with her c8 til they got all the bugs out...Maybe she can shed some light for ya..
Good luck !
Some call it built, some call it broke.
Oh, Poor Mike. 😂😂😂
Is it possible you are getting bad E-85? I prefer race gas even though it's expensive, but it's a lot safer than getting bad E-85.
And for the trans you might need a stronger clutch and reprogramming or tune, just food for though.
Goonzquad has extra C8 engine that they would probably sell
Yeee Yeee!
Dont make excuses for the guys that built it. They need to stand by their work and make it right.
It takes a college man to design it and a high school to F-k it Up !!!
Go watch torque test channel about torque wrench use extensions won't change torque value
Coming from a guy that has built Corvettes as well. Stay away from Comp turbo especially the oilless system. Call Jose at Force inductions.
Be safe
I thnk a youtuber already his the fast c8 before you did your c8
Either that is a PCV problem or the engine is built wrong. To be honest with you, I built cars, myself and having problems repeatedly months after months of the same thing means somebody just doesn’t know how to figure out what’s wrong..
I’ll keep my C6
Dodson clutch
🔥
Extension will not effect the torque. Especially at 15 ft lbs.

All the work to keep modified car on street is what kills the fun. Keep the McLaren you just bought stock
i like u sold my vet and having regrets i dont have tag or vin # n dealer wont release any info on cars where abouts but somehome found out car is now in Ohio im in Fl how do i get more info to track present owner down to make an offer to rebuy the car?
Water in the fuel? E85 does that.
Buy race car parts, get race car problems. And that includes "performance" air cleaners .
As out story's hero is learning, effective car stewardship has a steep learning curve, and mistakes will be made . One can only hope, if money is an issue, that the beginning learning mistakes/attempts are on less expensive cars than a built late model corvette that never really got all the original build issues corrected.
Bought a 24 c8 stingray one of the worst purchases defects in the paint, And GM refusing to rectify the problem you would think on a brand new vehicle the paint would be flawless stay away from GM people!
Those high horsepower cars are so impractical and dangerous. A cool looking fun to drive car is all you need. They designed the car to provide you with everything that you need.
I agree. If I ever have another Corvette I will leave it completely stock and use it just to take Sunday drives. If I ever need to be somewhere that quickly, then I will leave earlier.
That's the great thing about America, we all can have our own opinions. Maybe it's everything YOU need, but not to everyone. That's why it's a billion dollar a year industry.
@@horsepowerdriven Very true!

LOL, you strongly defended the "over MSRP" charges in the comments section (replying to me specifically) now you are singing a different tune.
Exactly, he was let go because he had a used car dealership from what I remember.
I never have defended over MSRP. My 1 video stated this is what the reality of the market was going to be. I was accurate. And I wasn’t fired or “let go”. This was my plan the whole time. I formed the LLC in 2020. 18ish month prior to leaving the chevy dealer.
@@ChevyDude ....But I do believe that you didn't like it, and that probably help push you toward starting your own business. I am simply stating that when it came down to it, you made a video defending the practice after bashing it for years.
Why do you even have a 1300 hp car? You’re never going to use it all. I understand you’re a RUclipsr, but you don’t even use it for content. You should sell that, and whatever you bought overseas and buy a Z06, and don’t ruin it with a bunch of useless mods.
Sigh...it IS the build and it IS the parts those comp turbos IMO are junk and give lots of people problems leaking water put some traditional oil cooled precision turbos on problem solved there....
Shift issue is called shift flare, probably needs clutches...
1300 is way to much for you...ive watched you a good while no ill intent but twins at 1300hp aren't for you, you would have been much happier with much more money in your pocket with a basic 700-800hp whipple or in your case since the powwr scares you a procharger ( smoother delivery )
Cars don't have to jabe these problems ship it back to andrew...
Pitching about American car as junk to justify your jump to McClaren is low character though.
Stock C8 with a procharger kit would be fast and perfect for the average guy without much enthusiast knowledge or skill
You built an engine designed for 450+ hp to 1300 hp what did you expect to happen. I can't even imagine the dollars you threw away. If you wanted high hp your should have waited for the C8 ZR1
I have watched almost all of your videos and today while watching you made a comment that I wonder if you were qualified to say about the E-Ray. You said it was “TRASH”. Have you even driven one?? Based on that, unless you have driven one and have actual experience with driving one, then I question your opinions on other cars that you critique!
Consequently, you are loosing a viewer, which is probably a drop in a bucket, but there are plenty of other content to watch.
It was the idiot who bought the car from you who didnt take care of it and now you have that headache. This is why I dont buy used cars PERIOD!! Nobody takes as good as care of my car as I do. I do the maintenance and oil changes on time or early. I had a local shop do my intake & downpipes as my back was locking up and they had a friggin monkey do it. I had to take my ATSV to Tapout Tuning in OH from TN. The quality of workmanship in the south is HORRIBLE!!
That is not a six figure car. Ruined a good vehicle. What a waste.
Good car. Bad decisions.
Hopefully you learned a lesson
I would sell that thing and let it be someone else’s money pit.
It's like a black hole you keep putting money in to cut your losses and sell the car be smart it will all ways have problems
I'd regret 1300hp too, those are rookie numbers you gotta pump those numbers up 😂
You're allowing your ego to pour all your money down a rabbit hole. You can only expect what you've got and will continue to have... Problems?
content $, all tax deductible
Credibility.......................gone.
what happened to the big RV?
It's a tough spot
Should have just got a GT350 and put twins on it...
First world problems
I use to like this channel. RUclipsrs get some money and then forget what got them there 1300 HP POS is not what I started watching this channel for. I just dont care about every bodies toys. Good luck with the Vett. Not my cup of tea.
I regret owning my corvette at all at the end of the day it's just a chevrolet the low-end brand of general motors
What year and what problems has it given you?
My guess is that you bought a McLaren that is being sent over from England.
Here we go again with telling stories that don’t add up. Mike ALWAYS does this, he is sketchy.
Now all of a sudden you left the dealer because you didn’t like working with a dealership who charged over MSRP? Bull****. Anyone can go back and see where you were clearly “let go” because they didn’t want you working there and at your own dealer - conflict of interest.
Get your stories straight dude.
Facts!
A car salesman telling the truth!??
I'll back mike here. They started selling over msrp during covid. Mike voiced his opinion about this during his videos. It was shortly after he started his car store. So story is still the same years later.
Buy a coyote and fly with out troubles Ford power forever baby a real Chevy and dodge killer l love it keep on bringing it mustang getting it done
Guy named Chevy Dude with the most ragged out C8 around. Thing is trash
at least it has a classy and tasteful wrap...... Oh wait.
First like and second comment
Its a Chevy...You're suprised there's something wrong with it?
