There is no question the Santa Fe Sport is the better vehicle BY FAR...!!! The Tucson is a nice little SUV. However, it's turbo engine with the DCT transmission is PLAGUED with issues...!!! Turbo lag is a MAJOR problem for this vehicle. Where as the Santa Fe's turbo engine shifts nearly flawlessly without nearly any turbo lag even off the line from a stop or driving around town. That was the biggest selling point for me over the 2 vehicles and i'm sure for many other folks out there as well.
THANK YOU for this detailed review. I have been staring at car videos all afternoon. Yours FAR outweighs any I have seen. You gave GREAT detailed information and you spoke clearly and not to loud but not to quiet . PERFECT. I'm in the market for a new vehicle and I think I had it narrowed to these 2 so the comparison was EXACTLY what I needed. I am a nearly 59 yr old female recently widowed so I cannot say THANK YOU enough.
Great video @MikesCarInfo! What I like the most is that you compared similarly priced cars, which consumers look at while making their purchase decision. Additionally, I'd have liked the price comparison as well, since the basic idea behind this comparison is - going for an inexpensive larger SUV vs more equipped smaller SUV with a new design language.
Great video, Mike! This is like the ultimate comparison between these two vehicles! You really got to hit all of the points, where each of these cars stand out from each other! This comparison will definitely be helpful to many, since both vehicles, in a way compete in the same class. The Tucson can compete with both the sub-compact utility vehicle segment and the CUV segment. While, the Santa Fe Sport can compete in both the CUV segment and the Midsize SUV segment! Hyundai's idea with these vehicles where to really kill 3 birds with 2 stones! Keep up the impeccable work, Mike! You truly are a wonderful car overviewer! -DriveAndBeDriven "The Quest To Record The Best!"
Nice comparison between 2 similar Hyundai models. Basically, if you are looking for more space than get the Santa Fe. Also, if you are looking at the Santa Fe, they are doing a complete redesign for next year so I guess take a look at the leaks and decide if you would rather wait for that, or rather get this generation. My dad liked the 2017 Sonata more than the 2018 one and got that (also a $6,000 incentive to make room for the new ones helped). My dad chose this time, but my mom is choosing next time and it will probably be between a Santa Fe and CR-V when the 2009 Sonata goes so it will be a battle of the H brands.
Great video Mike loving your content as always, also just wondering if there will be a full tour of the Tucson soon or if this is it. Please continue making these great videos Mike they are best in class ;)
If you are looking for a little bit more room look at the Santa Fe. I didn't notice any different in the passenger areas and a tiny bit larger in the cargo area. I went with the Tuscon and I am very happy I did. I love it.
I'm wondering how the Sante Fe is for headroom/legroom/shoulder room? I'm 6'3" and have big wide shoulders, I find most crossovers to be pretty narrow and cramped, I was hoping the story was different with this car.
Great overview of both vehicles. I went to the Hyudai dealership in Raleigh, NC to look at the Tucson and really liked it but it was too small for me (6'2"). Ended up test driving a Santa Fe Sport...didn't really like it. Went home with a Sonata Limited haha.
Good review in detail Mike. But not a valid comparison. They are different sized vehicles. Also, the Santa Fe is old, while the Tucson is new. The all new Santa Fe will debut late this year in Korea, and will feature the new Hyundai design language that the Tucson already has.
What I meant Raven, is that the Santa Fe design has been around since 2012, while the current Tuscon features the new Hyundai fluidic sculpture language introduced in 2015. So, yes, they are both 2017, but they are a generation apart. Also, you should learn the difference between "there" and "they're". Dumbass!
Robert Schneider, just curious why you say that. Am I missing something about the duel clutch that is bad? Acura, BMW, Lexus, and many higher end manufacturers are all switching to duel clutch transmissions these days. I have only heard mostly good things about them
You keep saying Santa Fe, and then showing the Tucson. I can read the labels you have on screen differentiating the colors of the 2 models, but the information you’re giving is irrelevant, if you’re showing a different car from what you’re describing. It’s like listening to a voice-over from an Escalade video, but watching a Maxima video. So confusing!
MikesCarInfo - the drive is the most important part of the comparison and is missing from your comparison - how the engine works, power band eg hp and torque band - when do they come in? how does the car steer? how does it handle? is it soft or hard on suspension? etc all missing - these are the most important features which you miss - just explaining what the knobs do is like marrying a girl from just a photograph - would you do that?
How would you like me show you with my camera "how does the car steer? how does it handle? is it soft or hard on suspension?" What position of the camera will show you this?

About the most in-depth care review I have ever seen, for any car video I have ever seen. Wow...
Just what I was wanting a comparison of these two. Well done.
THANK YOU for this. I was literally looking at these exact cars. I have a clear winner now. Cant wait to purchase!
TheBeautifullyjuju good luck for car😀😀😀
Can you share with me your experiences with the chosen model?
Thank you
The Santa Fe is one of the biggest SUVs in the Hyundai company, so the Kona is small, Tucson is medium, and Santa Fe is large.

Which car is more comfortable in back seats
sante fe hands down winner
most in depth review ever !
i like the Tuscan. it's the perfect size, but the Santa Fe sport is good as well.
Great video Mike loving your content as always, also just wondering if there will be a full tour of the Tucson soon or if this is it. Please continue making these great videos Mike they are best in class ;)
I really like that hope to get a tuscon this friday
Did you get it?
I want to buy this car, but I don't know which one is the best even after watching your video... what do you suggest, please
Thanks man.You did a great job. Of course Santa Fe is my choice but unfortunately without sunroof panorama.
shlonec why not ,??
i am confused which one is best .. in cheap and best under 21 lakhs
If you are looking for a little bit more room look at the Santa Fe. I didn't notice any different in the passenger areas and a tiny bit larger in the cargo area. I went with the Tuscon and I am very happy I did. I love it.
Thanks for the excellent video, but I don't understand which one's more high From the Ground.
santa fe wins great video
Excellently review, thanks! Question: are these vehicles actually made in Korea, or only partially? Thanks!
The Tucson has a DCT engine which sucks...do the santa fe sports have them too?
just bought the 2017 santa fe 2.0t se love it..great review sub
Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
Great video Mike!

Great comparison. I have to admit EVERY time I see the Santa Fe center console I see a cobra - kinda weird. Prefer the Tucson
Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
MikesCarInfo I thought the same thing about the Santa Fe's center console. Wasn't a big fan of it.
Tony BoomHarang I prefer the console design because it helps out with hip and knee room.
he did it again. what a great review super detailed. keep it up! 👍👍👍👍
Not sure sure whether I learned something about these cars or not but I am pretty sure now how to pronounce Tucson and Santa Fe....
I am embarrassed to say I got the Santa fe as a rental and couldn't figure out how to release the gas tank door
In the driver's door
Outstanding video Mike! Thanks a lot!
I am in the market for one of these, we have 2 carseats and were wondering if theres enough room in between for an adult to sit in the tucson.
Thanks for the video
Very nice video however I don't consider it a fair comparison since the Tucson is Limited and the Santa Fe is not.
Great overview of both vehicles. I went to the Hyudai dealership in Raleigh, NC to look at the Tucson and really liked it but it was too small for me (6'2"). Ended up test driving a Santa Fe Sport...didn't really like it. Went home with a Sonata Limited haha.
Sonata is a really nice car :)
Yup! Had a 2012 GLS and went home in a 2016 Limited with tech and ultimate packages!
Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
Would be helpful to mention the cruise control features on both models. Such as if the adaptive cruise is available on the Santa Fe?
Anyone having issues with acceleration lag/hesitation when turning left/right?
2017 Santa Fe Sport, how do you turn on the daytime driving lights? Thanks
Santa Fe just feels more expensive and worth buying for wouldn't mind extra bucks for more premium feeling
Thanks nice review, greetings from Pakistan
Thank you Mike excellent job, luv your review...A+👍💕
Great video
You are the best!!!
Nice review!
Amazing review, thanks!
On the 2017 Santa Fe Sport, how do you turn on the daytime driving lights? Thanks
Randy Murphy they should come on by themselves when you start it as long as the headlights aren’t on. Mine do!
Very good review! Thanks
Fantastic video, very informative and detailed. 👍
Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
Very great video. Keep it up
You should do some subcompact sedans like the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio because a lot of people are looking at economy cars like Jose
Iam confused.which one of the best under 21 lakhs
Rishabh Dev both are above 21 L
Hey Mike love your videos! Do you think you could review the new 2018 Chevy Equinox?
I just looked at one yesterday :)
MikesCarInfo Cool! What did you think of it?
I like it a lot better than the previous models. I'll have some video footage of it released in the next few days.
MikesCarInfo Alright thanks Mike, Have a nice weekend!
Good review in detail Mike. But not a valid comparison. They are different sized vehicles. Also, the Santa Fe is old, while the Tucson is new. The all new Santa Fe will debut late this year in Korea, and will feature the new Hyundai design language that the Tucson already has.
The idea for this video came from shoppers searching for this type of comparison and coming up empty.
the Santa Fe Sport isn't old dumbass. there both 2017 vehicle, so it's a valid comparison.
Dumbass!
There is also new santafe facelate 2018 bro with increase in price and facilities. You dont have any information
Kapil Nath The refresh last year was pretty minor. But actually, the all new 2019 Santa Fe will debut very soon. That will be really nice!
great video
Will the2.0 Turbo engine be available in the Tuscon???
No. It is reserved for the larger Santa Fe, which by the way, is due for a complete remake later this year.
Louis Greenzweig yes.. its available in Tucson
Not in North American and not in Asia. Maybe you live in Europe?
No auxiliary ports on either vehicle?
Both have aux near the gear stick
Appreciate it. Thank you
Tucson is grat
TUCSON FOR ME
they didn't let your drive them?
This was not a test-drive video.
Good comparo. One correction: The tan area above the door padded door armrest cushions on the Tucson is squishy and not hard plastic.
Thanks :)
You know there's a BIG DIFFERENCE between the Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Sport.. right?
Yes
Very very big like santa car
I'll take the Santa Fe Sport because it doesn't have a Dual Clutch Transmission.
But the Tucson has two different transmissions that you can choose from. So you're not stuck with the Santa Fe.
AJ R I know but that's only on the base model Tucson.
I just bought a 2017 Tuscon Ultimate and I absolute love the 7 speed duel Clutch transmission. It shifts so much quicker then a standard transmission.
Tony BoomHarang Right now you do... You'll see down the road.
Robert Schneider, just curious why you say that. Am I missing something about the duel clutch that is bad? Acura, BMW, Lexus, and many higher end manufacturers are all switching to duel clutch transmissions these days. I have only heard mostly good things about them
No CD player in the Tucson
hey Mike y don't u get the top of the line models
Like what?
For all your car reviews
Like Ferrari or Bugatti? What top of the line models?
I meant u should get the top trim models of the vehicles that u are reviewing......u always get the entry model get the top tier one
I try do do them all if I can. Top and bottom models.. check my channel for a bunch of top trim vehicles.
All the way SANTA FE ❤❤
You keep saying Santa Fe, and then showing the Tucson.
I can read the labels you have on screen differentiating the colors of the 2 models, but the information you’re giving is irrelevant, if you’re showing a different car from what you’re describing.
It’s like listening to a voice-over from an Escalade video, but watching a Maxima video.
So confusing!
Can you give me a time stamp of when I did that?
I don't use voice-overs. The audio is real time.
Thanks. :D
Nice santa
Santa Fe ❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊🤛🤛
Santa Fe is a bit too big... Tucson is already a big car
why still measure in inches and feet?
The majority of my audience is in the USA and that is what they are familiar with.
Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
ACCENT VS ELANTRA 🤔
IM Vincent Elantra is better.
careful, i heard the transmissions are garbage on the tucson
Link?
www.torquenews.com/3793/hyundai-transmission-recall-problem-opportunities
people also uploaded vids on youtube showing the problems they experienced
According to that article it was not a transmission problem but a software problem which was solved last year.
@@MikesCarInfo I’m nervous getting Tucson for me and kids to use but I’m hoping it’s safe and I’m getting used Tucson so hopefully it’s fixed?
hi
Snta fe
Tucson is better
Why?
If you're poor, Corean Kiaaaaaaaa is for you.
poor comparison missing the key important element of the drive on the road
What about the drive on the road would you like to see?
MikesCarInfo - the drive is the most important part of the comparison and is missing from your comparison - how the engine works, power band eg hp and torque band - when do they come in? how does the car steer? how does it handle? is it soft or hard on suspension? etc all missing - these are the most important features which you miss - just explaining what the knobs do is like marrying a girl from just a photograph - would you do that?
How would you like me show you with my camera "how does the car steer? how does it handle? is it soft or hard on suspension?" What position of the camera will show you this?
MikesCarInfo - you take it for a drive - I presume you have a driver's license
While I drive... "how does the car steer? how does it handle? is it soft or hard on suspension?" What position of my camera will show you this?
Hyundai lacks a real SUV. To compete with Toyota Fortuner
that was a great comparison video thanks you very much
Good review. Nice and detailed. Thanks.
Great review, thanks!!
