Hi, I’m Chris. I’m a former barista champion (yes that’s a thing), and own a coffee company with two of my friends.
I believe that share your gifts is the pathway to connection. I hope to inspire others to share their gifts so that we can all feel a deeper sense of belonging and fulfillment. To take action and make the contribution that only you can make.

The culture fit is real - some companies got it all except for the fit which will eat away at the employee sooner or later.
Sometimes the hardest job is pretending to fit in, yuck.

Hmm, in practice your proposal is not easy to implement because someone who is an employee is likely economically dependent on his/her employer and will not wish to openly declare a mismatch in aims. The result is that employees who find themselves in an organisation that doesn't match their outlook will more often pay lip service to the system they find themselves in and work several months or longer in order to maintain a steady work record and reference before they change job (if they can find one). Most of us find that people who are open and honest about their feelings or opinions about their work are not respected and often feared and/or resented because most of us 'play the game'. As a young adult I worked for a few small, privately owned companies where my line managers were working in opposition to the directors/owners. There was nothing I could do to influence the situation because the person who had the power was my line manager who had the trust and ear of the director/owner. Luckily, I didn't have the responsibility to support a family or I might have had to endure years of unhappiness being a square peg in a round hole - in practice not many people have either the balls or opportunities to change jobs at will.
As for being the owner of a small company, it is a difficult decision to fire someone you discover has been 'playing the game' and has no interest in furthering your aims because they are solely interested in the salary/training you are providing. No amount of retraining or discussion will change them and they know you will find it hard to replace them with someone who does match your philosophy/aims. This is without considering the prospect of facing charges of unfair dismal...

Espresso vids are good too, but these business focus talks are quite informative, and provide us with a different side to Chris that we often don’t get to see from those whose channels are more coffe-specific focused. Of which there are plenty already.
