*Exactly, “culture fit” just seems like a euphemism for discrimination or code speak for excluding neurodiverse people*

It becomes a very easy way excuse to get rid of the people who you might be prejudice against or you just simply don't like.Thats the problem with cultural fit.

Culture fit is discrimination, plain & simple! It’s surprising that more people can’t see this.

Why aren't these companies being sued for discrimination? "Cultural" is a loaded term which any intelligent person takes to mean social norms usually associated with race, class, ethnicity, nationality, religion, etc. To say a candidate isn't a cultural fit, is stating they're undesirable because they're not a member of the dominant social group. Of course, no corporation would come out and state this for legal reasons, so instead they redefine the term "cultural" to some nebulous definition, which at the very minimum demonstrates a blatant disregard for how it might be percieved.

Years ago I applied to a senior position at a bank. A week later I received a letter from the hiring manager, and she said I was being rejected because I wasn’t a culture fit. No interview, not even a conversation yet I was deemed not a culture fit. I guess the picture of my black face on LinkedIn didn’t help🙃 “Culture fit” is code phrase for discrimination and bias.

Love this … So true! … To the Employee - I believe it starts with you, i.e. to break away from the shackles of society that’s in most cases imposed by the colour of your skin / your name / your heritage / they way you speak, and to believe in yourself, your abilities to perform at the highest level with utmost dedication, and to truely believe that you can make a positive change in society, and surround yourself with people that support you and your cause and to disregard those that out of ignorance fail to see your values and ambitions.

I work at a tech company the majority are white, with some Indians. I see these people forming cliques. whites, Indians, and the Black and hispanic are sprinkled in because its such a small number.

This is what is going on with the schools not letting some kids wear dreadlocks, right. Even though the schools have the dress code, it obviously needs to be changed.
