    I love the way you guys reply to everyone and encourage dog owners even when they are going to try build their own...you are open and offering to brainstorm etc. Your advice is friendly even though you know they might not become a customer. I wish you all the best with your business. You deserve to succeed with this caring attitude. Such a lack of it in today's dog eat dog...lol...world.
    I'm in UK and looking at something to mount on my 2008 Honda fireblade for my cocker. Hes only 3 months now and not sure if he likes bikes yet. Wish we had someone here like you guys. Anyway best of luck from max and I. 👍🏍🏍🌻

    You know I was talking to a friend about how to carry a dog on a bike, Specifically my NC750X. I toyed with getting a small dog with a tank bag. But a small doggo wasn't what I wanted. Bernese mountain dog is more my type of size. I actually searched up 'Dog riding Motorcycles' and what poped up was your image, which lead me to your site and now youtube. I know know I am not silly in thinking its possible & you have inspired me to try this method & get the doggo of my dreams :-D.. Keep it up, kee doing your videos and have fun :-D x

    Literally the video I was looking for. I have a 750GS, and I’m looking to get a German Shepherd, I love riding bike, and once the puppy is big enough I’d like to see if I can take him with me in one of my adventures.

    • @GoRUFFLY
      @GoRUFFLY  4 года назад

      Glad you found the video helpful! The Cockpit will fit very well on a 750GS because the bike has good mounting points and the passenger seat is quite level with the luggage platform. This will give your dog a nice, big space to lay on and that weight will stay low and connected to the bike. If you decide to move forward with building a Cockpit or another type of carrier, feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas through our website. Good luck!

      one question: is that steel tublar steel tubing welded inside the swimming pool foam protection . I was thinking of something lighter like pvc plumbing tubing glued together with elbow connections etc inside the foam tubing?

    • @GoRUFFLY
      @GoRUFFLY  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the kind words. Really glad you like the Cockpit design. Since we published the video, we done several more longer trips and through all the miles, off-road, and crashes the Cockpit has held up amazingly. The steel tubes are welded and that frame is covered with the foam and vinyl. We've had several people ask about PVC tubing. I think it's a clever way to reduce weight and simplify the construction. For medium-sized dogs and small it's probably going to hold up just fine. For Moxie's size (65-70lbs) and larger, I don't think I'd be comfortable with PVC. Probably also depends on the road conditions. Here in Guatemala, the road conditions cause a lot of abuse on the bikes and, by extension, the carrier. Drop us a line through ruffontheroad.com and keep us posted on how the build goes. We're happy to toss around idea and brainstorm.

      Ruff on the Road thanks guys, I've riden lots of powerful 360's 450 dirt bikes but then laid off for years and now im 68 so obviously a little nervous buying a bike and being a little short at 5'5 1/2" have to make sure I can touch the ground and safety first for my dog . I really appreciate the info will do. cheers happy riding over there. I'm here in the UK and theres a bit too many cars on this island for my liking but once youre over on the ferry in Normandy france its much better, see ya.

    • @GoRUFFLY
      @GoRUFFLY  5 лет назад +1

      @@briantrend1812 You'll have a blast on the 250 and shouldn't have any trouble handling you and your pup. And definitely make yourself a carrier - a Cockpit or another model - you'll absolutely have a blast travel like that. I (Greg) totally understand what your saying about "being a little short"... That's where the Cockpit design really makes a difference. By avoiding the weight of a cage and placing the dog directly on the seat (through a cushion) the center of gravity is lowered considerably. All the best to you!

  • @HelioDiamant
    @HelioDiamant 4 года назад

    Very nice, indeed, probably better than any commercial product I have seen... how do you latch it to the motorcycle, at the top case latch? Another question, it seems that it takes the pillion's s seat, can it be done a little shorter and a little more to the back in order to keep the place for the pillion (no reason for taking the dog and leaving wife home) ? Thanks

    • @GoRUFFLY
      @GoRUFFLY  4 года назад

      Yes, the ideal Cockpit setup allows the dog to lay on the pillion seat and luggage platform / rack behind the pillion seat. We've had a number of riders ask us about mounting the Cockpit further to the rear to keep the pillion seat free for the spouse. It's doable and depends a lot on the type of bike. Check out the info we have available about the Cockpit at our website (www.ruffontheroad.com/k9mc). There's a contact form, so please reach out with some specifics about your bike and dog so that we can provide you some specific feedback and thoughts!

      Thanks. No bad experiences at all. People are pretty awestruck everywhere we go. We’ve been pretty careful to take plenty of breaks so that the noise of riding is not constant all day long. Also, the riding out here isn’t generally high speed so it’s not interstate level wind noise.

    If I got a big dog I was thinking maybe either a doberman or one of the bully breed dogs.
    Great video! Loved it!

    • @GoRUFFLY
      @GoRUFFLY  Год назад +2

      The KLR is a great bike for mounting the Cockpit. We've created Cockpits for several KLRs for big dogs. If you're talking more about a sport bike, then you'll want to make sure you have a sturdy luggage rack to help with the mounting. In terms of turning, it feels similar to having a duffle bag on the back of the bike. It's not as much added weight as riding with a human passenger but there is an additional load. You can definitely still ride the twisties with your dog in their Cockpit. If you're curious about the feel, load up a duffle bag with your dog's weight and strap it to the back of your bike to get a feel for the setup. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us at info@goruffly.com

      We’ve had several tip overs with Moxie on board and she shakes it right off. No injuries and she hops right back on afterwards. It also helps a lot to have the hard side cases on the bike because they keep her further from the ground in a tip over.

    I want to join you from Brazil! I've been to Australia, UK, USA, Europe and places all over Asia. I did not carry my beloved dog with me in any of those places, am just starting in now in Brazil and would love to join your group focused on riding motorbikes (BMW motard by myself without a mate) with dogs. Let me join you guys and learn and contribute with my hands-on experience which is still very crude. What shld I do to be more participative or contributor?

      That’s right. Her K9 Moto Harness connects to the front and rear of her Cockpit. That way she can’t raise her torso nor her butt during a ride. She also can’t somersault out in case of an emergency stop or tip-over.

      Hi there. Really glad you found the video useful and you're travel plans sound great! We've received a lot of interested from people who want to ride with their dogs so we have prepared a K9 Moto Cockpit Build Guide. Any decent metalworker should be able to use the information in the Build Guide to make a cockpit. Probably the only component that you will have to make differently will be the mounting for your specific bike. Also, whether you purchase the Build Guide or not, we're happy to brainstorm and provide advice as you work on your build. Good luck and keep us posted! www.ruffontheroad.com/product-page/k9-moto-cockpit-build-guide

      thank you for your concern about Moxie. We designed the K9 Moto Cockpit because we wanted the safest way possible to bring her along. There are no sure things, but, I think, we make the best choices we can for our dogs and ourselves about happiness versus safety. I’ve had several crashes and tip overs with her over 40k miles and she stays safely harnessed into her padded Cockpit. You can see a great example of a hard crash I had with her in episode 21 of our GoRUFFLY Around the World video series. We went down in some slick mud and she was perfectly fine and ready to go before I even had the bike back up! She’s living her best life, seeing and smelling all new things every day and is always excited to ride with me. Thanks again for your concern.
