44 - Finding Tractor Plows & Clearing an Old Pig's Shelter!

  • As this video is released, we’re celebrating our first year of living in France. With a lot done already, there is still much to do, and we have work for years to come! Last week, Philippe cleared a path towards the old red tractor we found hidden between brambles and under a tree. This week is about finishing touches, such as tearing brambles away from tree branches, raking out scraps of metal he finds scattered around, and finding pieces that belonged to the tractor, like several plows. He continues along an old pathway used long ago to move from field to field, where he also removes an old pig's dwelling. Once that has all been taken out, it's muscle time to get it all uphill towards the van. It's a little race against the coming rain showers, so Philippe can finish up before it’s too late.
We end the week with a visit to Belgium, as Philippe’s brother Jean is getting married, and where Odin discovers the joy of dancing! Enjoy!

I have finally caught up. I have spent the last few days watching from the beginning. You have a lot of energy and have accomplished a lot it one year. Thank you for including Odin and his milestones that he reaches. Seeing him going from his rolling to crawling and finally to walking. I love to see him dance and sing, it is precious. Philippe and Anicia you have accomplished so much in just one year. I look forward to your Sunday vlogs. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey. Saskatchewan, Canada

Really enjoy watching your channel on RUclips, and look forward to the next posting on Sunday. The drone shot at the beginning of this video truly shows the amount of work that has been done on your property. I am always amazed watching the drone shots. I applaud you both on this undertaking, and your dedication to live a self-sustaining lifestyle. Sometimes it has to be frustratingly hard, but you are both young, strong, and have a can-do attitude. Keep up the good work!

I stumbled across your channel and also--like another follower--watched all 44 episodes! It took me over a week, though! I admire you all, Anicia, Phillipe and Odin, for following your dreams, selling it all and moving far from family and friends. I wish I could have been that brave when I was younger. It is fun watching the progress that is being made a little at a time. It is never boring! It even inspires me to go work on the yard and reorganize! Your place is already looking amazing! Thank you for letting us share your adventure. (I'm watching episodes over now and catching things I didn't see the first time.)
I'll see you again on Sunday!

    Hello, nices old metal pieces.
The cutter-bar of a tractor side mower. Beautiful object
    Plowshares are good decorative elements
The curved steel piece probably comes from a portcullis
Keep it for a future use.????.
The 3 rounded corrugated sheets, when assembled, are shelters for cattle, pigs, sheep, etc. A shelter possibility for the Fire Wood............. or a cabin for the Kid!!!!
    Bon courage and stay safe.

    • @DomaineSauvage
      @DomaineSauvage  11 дней назад +1

The cutter-bar and plows we keep! The rest is a bit too far gone to use or display. We have kept many old hinges and locks we find!
The corrugated sheets i gave to Claude the mechanic he will recycle the metal. I will use solar panels as roof for storing our wood in the future.

Yep, crazy that they’ve just scattered the tractor pieces all over. Sending you on a scavenger hunt?🙄
When we had a bigger lawn, and a ride on mower, I always worried about running over rocks. I can’t imagine having to worry about so much crap all over the place 😬
We brought up our children with the knowledge that any kind of littering is wrong. They were always shocked when they saw neighbors and friends throw even a candy wrapper on the ground, in their own yard. So many seem to think the world is their trash can 😞
I’m sure your beautiful trees are breathing a sigh of relief with all that ivy and brambles removed 👍🏻

Put a rubber bungee cord on the handle of your chopping machine, that will keep it snug but be able to pull it up if necessary! Just a thought. Love you and your lovely family and your thoughtfulness of the planet. You are a hard worker and it is really showing in your property. Happy Fathers Day!🌈💓🌻🐓

I guess most places you can sell old iron and get a little amount of money for your efforts that way, and metal can be recyled.

For the size of property you will be beating this little garden tractor to death in no time. For you one of those small diesel tractors with the option of various attachments would be a good and long term investment! I own a fair size “garden”, so I know what I’m talking about 😉 ! My reasoning is, you could become much sooner productive with your farm and start generating income.

Hello, the mower is working hard but hopefully we can get the red tractor going and then it can retire to an easier life 🙏

@@DomaineSauvage Thank you for replying! My question with the old tractor is, if there are attachments available, like front end loader, mowing deck and most important a rototiller? Those old tractors used to have mowers, like the old one you found, which are only designed for hay. Plus with your terrain a 4-wheel drive might come in very handy too. Btw I run a zero turn mid size lawn mower cutting about 1 3/4 ha lawn. I'm lucky to have retired neighbours with tractors and a farmer with heavy equipment to mow my hay. But many times I wish I had one of those little tractors myself. I live in Northern Canada where summers are short and things need to be done quickly. However, I grew up on a farm in Europe. Your advantage is being young, but for successful farming you eventually will need the proper tools. All that said, I very much enjoy your RUclips videos, well done! I wish you and your family all the fortune you need to succeed and live a happy live! Greetings from Canada

I have found a second hand front end loader that would fit it and modern equipment can be hung from the back. For its day when it was released it was quite a modern tractor.
We do need proper tools and we already have a ton but our budget is not endless at the moment so sometimes we will do with what we have even when it is not entirely suitable for the job. But hopefully in the future we can expand! Thx far watching and supporting! 🙏👍
