As big Food Network and Vegas fans we were happy to oblige... and we stuffed our faces with everything from Martha Stewart’s comforting pierogies, to Roy Choi & Jon Favreau’s Chef Movie cubanos, to Wolfgang Puck’s fluffy Kaiserschmarrn pancakes. Eeh no. Buffets are gross, who knows what kid put snot in it. Worse are the adults "tasting" from the serving spoons... I like Saf and Ty, I don't want them to end up in the ER because of food poisoning. I'm thinking the locals, imagine how much worse it would be in a tourist trap like Vegas?!?
I couldn’t help but crack up seeing the stark contrast between you guys at Martha’s fancy restaurant. Safiya is dressed in a beautiful black dressy outfit and Tyler in the Patagucci tshirt 🤣🤣🤣 I freaking love you guys lol. I have rewatched the Vegas series at LEAST 20 times so this was an amazing surprise!

I had the exact same experience there and I still give Johnny Rockets the stink eye when I pass one. I was in Vegas last week and walked by the JR at the Luxor and gave them one in Saf’s honor.

@@snybies Asian desserts/cuisine are generally just less sweet and sugary than European/American desserts. An American might complain that a Chinese pastry isn't sweet enough, while a Chinese person might complain that an American cake or cookie is TOO sweet. Mildly sweet is exactly what most Asian sweets are aiming for.

I really really love that you guys don't have an "upload schedule" per se. Not only because I hope it helps to keep things manageable and less stressful for you, but also because all of sudden a video like this drops like and unexpected gift and the joy is so real. Martha Stewart actually went to prison in Alderson, WV which is a really small town. Most of the women in prison there are people who grew up in poverty and wound up incarcerated due to drug offenses (although there have been a few high profile people like Martha). I knew people who met her while she was there and everyone said that she was really lovely and kind. She actually even maintained a friendship with at least one of the women for several years after she got out. No idea if she’s still in contact with anyone, but always nice to see a celebrity who treats others with kindness and doesn’t think she’s above poor people!
....or maybe, Martha was just smart enough to realize how much trouble she was in, and made nice because you typically live longer that way. Being someone who made her way in the world pretty much based on her social skills, this was probably a better plan.
@@TheSaneHatter How much trouble she was in? The woman was convicted of insider trading in a case that makes what most Congressmen do look like pennies and only served a few months. Also as I mentioned, it’s a prison almost entirely full of non-violent offenders. They aren’t sending a woman guilty of insider trading to maximum security. There was no “living longer” because this is real life and not a movie. The majority of inmates there are poor women who were sucked into a life of drugs because of their partners.
ETA: I said this backwards but I’m not going to change the original message itself because then it gets confusing. What most Congressmen do makes Martha’s crime look like pennies, not the other way around. I think it was less than $100,000 that she was convicted over.
@@brennan3723 Yeah I think people have this idea that all prisons are like you're a second from death at all times because of movies. It *can* be like that in certain places like with violent offenders but the vast majority aren't like that. They're actually just extremely sad places to be.. both for workers and prisoners.
@@Eventide215 Yeah, the Alderson women’s prison is absolutely not some crazy place like the movies. I mean, at the time Martha was sentenced, the media made jokes about how cushy the prison she was getting sent to was. I’m pretty sure she even compared going there to an Ivy League school. I should also clarify that I was young when she was there and I remember people talking about befriending her, but it was probably the families she stayed in contact with and not the prisoners themselves since I assume that would have been a violation of her parole. But she was well-liked and I think even became like a liaison between the women and the administration.
Extremely sad is 100% accurate though. The ladies used to come talk at my school when I was younger (a good sign that they aren’t gonna like shank Martha Stewart or whatever) as a scared straight/DARE type of thing, and their stories were almost always along the lines of “I grew up poor, I started dating a bad guy, he got me addicted to drugs, and now I’m in prison. I miss my kids and family.” It was depressing.
There were a few violent criminals there at the same time, but I’d guess the Manson girls weren’t really interacting with her. They certainly weren’t being let out to speak to the schools lmao.
@@brennan3723 Martha mostly went to jail because she wouldn't snitch on who gave her the info. She probably could've gotten off with an immunity deal if she snitched.

as a European, I especially love those Vegas videos. everything is so larger-than-life and over the top, we simply don't have anything like that in here - that's what makes them so fascinating! I loved the amtrak video too.

*NO WAY* I just finished rewatching the original Vegas series (including the restaurant video) for like the 15th time or something, this timing is PERFECT.
I am about to watch this video but I need to first share that about a year ago when I was bedridden and miserable during pregnancy I watched part 1 of this series over and over and over. It was so comforting for some reason and I will always cherish that video for keeping me sane somehow. Thank you Safiya and Tyler! Now to watch this masterpiece

I just love that a video that in concept would make anyone filming it seem like a wealthy individual very out of touch with the reality of $, still seems very inviting and human when it’s Saf and Ty. They’re not flexing at us or flaunting the fact they can do this kind of thing. It genuinely feels like a friend showing us their favorite parts of their trip

They're even throwing an F1 race and I still can't see the point of going there.
Those restaurants look nice though. Here in Europe they just cram all the tables they can into a low ceiling space at an A location. Vegas creates the locations, I can see the upside there, in theory.
My jaw dropped at a part 2, I was so confused by this being a recent subscription until it clocked it was a part 2, part 1 is my comfort video. I howled at the Johnny Rockets Dig.

One of the reasons you guys are so fun to watch is that you actually like each other. As well as whatever you’re covering, it’s watching two best friends hanging out, finishing each other’s sentences and just enjoying each other’s company - it’s so heartwarming!

$40 for Kaiserschmarrn??? As an Austrian, this pains me to see. Kaiserschmarrn ist usually a pretty cheap dessert. I do get that he did his own twist and you pay more because you're in Vegas, but DAMN.
Other than that, the food in each restaurant looked amazing
I think in Slovenia it’s called šmorn and yeah it’s super cheap: a kinda fancy restaurant in Ljubljana charges 8€
I am a German so my perspective may be skewed, the Kaiserschmarren I'm used to is quite a bit different from what was shown in the video, but I agree that it is usually very cheap. They serve it in high school cafeterias over here! Celebrity chef prices are something else...

It looks more like a "Salzburger Nockerl" since it's so fluffy and airy. Real Kaiserschmarrn is basically just pancake dough broken up in the pan and served with some kind of fruit jam (typically plum). Both veeery delicious though

There's something very comforting about two convicted felons from arguably entirely opposite sides of the prison yard coming together to have such a nice friendship. I'll never get tired of seeing martha and Snoop together. They've faced more time than some celebs who have done much worse ever will and it's like not even a year between 'em, and at least they own it.

I went back and watched the first one before this, and someone else noted the lack of unpleasant chewing noises - which, in turn, really got me to notice how smoothly you transition from speaking in the moment to voice-over whenever somebody takes a bite. It really contributes to the chill, calming mood of these videos.

I love this series for a couple reasons, one: I would never go to Vegas and two: I could not eat any of what you tried (there would be major problems with my guts...). I appreciate the detail and enjoyment on your faces! I live vicariously through you!!!

@@nefertitimontoya Every time I eat at a restaurant my stomach gets upset, mostly by the richness of the food I think. We do about 95% of our meals at home so it is a treat to eat out, but I have to be careful. xo

fun fact my boyfriend used to work where Martha’s house is in New York. i went to visit him and he took me on a tour of the area and casually drove by her house saying “oh yeah that’s where Martha Stewart lives” i was in awe.

Also! I think it's okay that you and Tyler aren't crazy about adventurous seafood and I don't think it will hurt reviews. You guys are clearly openminded and appreciate taste over anything else.
Also, when people who don't really like seafood like a seafood dish, it usually means it's not too briny or salty, and that often indicates really good quality seafood. If my dad likes a seafood dish, I know it's something special (While I am slüt for salmon so I am less picky haha).

I love this part 2! I do have one note about Nellie’s chicken and dumplings. I do realize the concept of the dish is odd but as a person who is southern you kind of have to have that background to appreciate it or to at least understand why it is what it is. I’m so glad you were able to find good things to say about it even though it wasn’t quite what you wished it was.

I absolutely love the vegas series. I've lived here for the last ten years and still haven't done most of these things(mostly due to cost) but it's so cool to get to see/experience these things vicariously through you guys!!!
