I feel as soon as this update comes out hundreds of thousands of false reports for big content creators will rush in from trolls and hater and that within the first month of the update most if not all somewhat popular Minecraft RUclipsrs will be banned by trolls
I love how when a company does something the community hates, the community is quick to try a workaround. EA stopped support for BF2 so modders went crazy trying to make the game feel new. RUclips removed dislikes and within the same day, an extension was released for your browser that shows the dislikes. Minecraft adds the ability to censor and report chat, the community makes a mod that disables that. It’s pretty funny.
When dumbass people who are somehow in charge make a stupid decision, people with some common sense do the only sensible thing. Reversing it to the best of their ability. This applies to a lot of things.
My biggest gripe is that owners no longer have the control over the moderation of their own servers. I find it annoying and intrusive more than helpful.
I agree. WE, the community pays to setup servers. So it should be our rules and our regulations on the server. Microsoft shouldn't interfere into moderation of servers that we host and we pay for from our pockets. If Microsoft doesn't remove it, I believe there will be bad consequences of this action.
@@anakinlowground5515 Microsoft is creating a problem by seeing everything is Toxic, by creating an Oppressive system that needs mods to bypass it. lol Methinks, someone should tell Microsoft and every other company to think about what they are doing and not what they need to do. Since this would *kill* Gaming as we know it if these are implemented.
@narrativeless8095 i bet they ran this in python 💀 import minecraft def ban(player, reason): minecraft.ban(player) print('you were banned.') print('reason:',reason) if message == 'hello': ban(player, 'banned lol')
Fun Fact: Banning you from even single player is a violation of any 'inperpeturity' lines in the EULA. However, after reading through the current EULA, they removed any line saying you own your copy of the game In Perpetuity. "...when you pay for our Game, you are buying a license to play / use our Game in accordance with this Agreement - you are not buying the Game itself." This is a 'service' license. You don't own the fucking game anymore even if you bought it back in Alpha where you bought the game itself... I can't find the original 'legacy' EULA I agreed too back in late 2009, so I can't compare it to the modern one where you don't even own the license anymore. Feels like it's a violation of consumer trust laws.
As a long time bedrock player, I’m really glad someone pointed out how outright stupid singleplayer censorship is. I had heard about this reporting system coming to Java due to Bedrock edition also having similar features. In-fact, the singleplayer filter used to be so strict that if you were to try and type the word “Night” in chat, on signs, or even when you were simply *re-naming an item* ,it would be filtered do to the beginning of the word having the letters “nig” which was too similar to the N-word. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Restricting someone's access to an offline product that they purchased should be entirely illegal. I genuinely hope this blows up into a class-action lawsuit, not just for Minecraft, but to set a precedent that this isn't acceptable.
I'm legitimately surprised Microsoft at all hasn't gone bankrupt, they are an incredibly shitty company and the only reason they are thriving is because Windows is so stupidly easily accessible.
This line 'when you pay for our Game, you are buying a license to play / use our Game in accordance with this Agreement - you are not buying the Game itself.' in the EULA protects them despite it being a violation of various case's where purchasing a game should be in perpetuity, the owners of the IP can't prevent you from accessing the offline content.
This Mega corp behavior is unacceptable if they prevent me from playing on my own server for messages on my own server I'm just gonna get a "Free version" of the game. But wait it's not legal to steal from the rich but they can steal from you. Well in some way Minecraft is reflecting what is going on in this world and the trends that are happening. Just gonna love this century
@@sweetgirl0 nah, I'm glad I support it while Notch was still there. I'm not so happy with where things ended up. It was ok for a while after the Microsoft acquisition, but it's definitely gotten worse.
Remember: Whenever a game says the sentence: "Safe environment", it's never a good sign. ROBLOX has ruined itself already. Now it might be Minecraft's turn.
@@gorts_brothers_brother1072 plus the name filter was even worse. I got had a couple of alts with obvious profanity, three nsmed after members of Nazi high command (no changes needed just typed it in), and some questionable statements about the jews. At least a year in and none were deleted, although that was a while ago so I'm not sure now.
Its a sad prospect, although we all should’ve seen this coming knowing Microsoft. Mojang probably didn’t want to add this but I doubt they had a choice, it was probably a Microsoft business decision.
@@grahamturner2640 Parents complain and sue about "Only interaction not rated by the ESRB" indeed being way above what the ESRB rated Minecraft to Mojang/microsoft This is their hotfix (easier than educating parents and making them actually parent)
@@grahamturner2640 I’m guessing they added it because they wanted more control over what choices players have. I’d hope that they remove this soon because of the backlash but I doubt it unfortunately.
the fact that there's even a multiplayer-ban system being implimented in java terrifies me I'll probably never log into a public minecraft server ever again if this is the risk
Same. I was excited to log into Hypixel when I got Java last year, I haven't had the initiative to do it until recently. Because of this video, I'm kinda hesitant to even log into private multiplayer servers with my close friends.
As a Bedrock player, I have seen myself shadow muted and many of my friends shadow muted to the point where they gave up chatting in minecraft entirely. Absolutely hate that this type of thing is not only not going away, but is going to java as well.
@@p4tchPL nah. If Minecraft was still owned by notch we wouldn't have had these big updates. Fr though if notch was still the owner, he would never implement these rules. He stands for free speech. Some of his opinions are opinions like 90% of the world have so I don't see the issue it's mostly sensitive white Twitter users who grew up privileged in America or UK and without real life problems that cry about what he's said and find it so offensive. He created Minecraft man I ain't ever forgetting that.
It’s not gonna ruin the whole game. This is only 1 thing revolving around game chat, and how the moderation is done is also highly likely to change and be modified in the near future
One of the things that Linus (Mr. Tech Tips) talks about with piracy is that when the pirated version is better than the legal version, a lot more people start pirating. If a game has annoying DRM, pirating gives you a better game. Too much of this from Microsoft may lead to that condition. Xbox has enough DRM to where it's a pain to pirate, but pirating is really easy on desktop
I foresee a future where server owners disable account verification so that people can actually play on their server. This opens the door to further piracy of the game.
Yes. Gaben (Valve) also talked about this. Piracy is a convenience problem. Make it convenient for the user to be buy and use legally and you reduce piracy by a lot, make it hell for paid users and you get piracy. Some games have DRMs that reduce performance because they have heavy processes, pirated users get a better experience Get banned from mojang auth servers for chatting on minecraft and get treated like a pirated player? Why pay in the first place and just pirate from the start
@@tiki2tgt they already are pretty big because theres a lot of free players, and its the only other populated option besides the monopoly that is hypixel 🤢
I think the biggest problem with this is that so many resources were dedicated to this feature (resources which could have been otherwise dedicated to improving the game and adding more content). Hopefully this comment does not get my account banned 🤞
Yes, the same with the silly and dumb collaboration with death franchises like angry birds, Buzz Ligear, Ice Age on bedrock, Mojang used more resources on that collaborations than on making fireflies, or making birch forests, or other revamps.
The biggest problem is that they can ban you for what you type. If you say fuck on a server and get banned on it now that is it. If you say fuck then, you cant play online anymore. See the problem?
I think if Mojang keeps going down this path of not listening to community and changing things that need to be like bugs. If they do continue they will lose buissnes I think it going to bite them in the ass and lose business. Hopefully this comment doesn't get reported
Banning players should be up to individual servers. I’m totally fine with someone being say banned from hypixel, but being banned from the entire game with no chance of redemption? That’s messed up.
This is a good opportunity to ask you this. Do you see why people in real life are so worried about free speech rights? Microsoft can't punish you physically. The government can.
@@IDoABitOfTrollin People in power misreading or choosing to misread speech to see it as bad, and punishing people for it. That's literally exactly what the nazis did to people and removed their rights to appear in public. Once they were out of the public eye they were easy to kidnap and kill. Multiplayer account gone, singleplayer account gone. I'm not calling microsoft nazis, but I am saying that this situation is like a tiny baby version of the same recurring theme in history.
This is what happens when companies try to make their games too safe. You get issues where anybody can report anybody as long as they feel as something they said maybe slightly offensive to them, only them. And then ban that person. Thats why I only play with my friends
What seems the most frightening thing to me is the possibility that anyone can be targeted and server owners themselves can be banned entirely, which could have catastrophic effects on public servers.
Also, if the report system doesn't care about what language you are talking, there would be a lot of false ban For exemple "con" is a normal word in english, but a swear word in French, the r-word is also a word meaning "late" in french If the moderation team ban player, who used those normal word in their language, because it is a swear word in another, then it's another problem
Then there's also spelling too. The words duck, and beach are not bad words unless you use them in certain contexts, and even then, would you rather have them use replacement-words, or the actual words?
A friend of mine actually experienced this, his account name was mildly simmilar to a certain English language word while being a totally normal one in his. He got permabanned with no chance of appeal and had to make a new one.
Moderation should be done at the server-level, not account-level. If there is a ban system, it should only be done either by the server, or if you're being a problem on official servers, you get banned on official servers, but there's literally not a single reason to ban someone from singleplayer.
Yeah. Microsoft has no responsibility for what players do on their accounts or even on a server. _And that's a good thing._ Admins and mods are the ones responsible for keeping their own servers in a state they want it to be by disciplining players. There's no good reason for Microsoft and Mojang to implement this. No one was really blaming them for misbehaving players (and the people who did aren't technically literate). They can't be reasonably held responsible for something like 2b2t. Privately run servers are just that: private. And if a parent desperately wants to protect their children, there are ways to ban their home network from connecting to certain IPs and domains. If Microsoft wants to make those tools more easily accessible, so be it. (They own the operating system as well.) They are not morally or legally responsible for these servers. And they should be legally barred from moderating people on an account basis.
It’s so sad that anyone speaking out against this in technical Minecraft communities, like every other addition hinting at censorship, is very often shunned, called conspiracy theorist, or even muted/banned for questioning Microsoft. People who have blind trust in these corporations are the reason things like this keep being allowed
Don't forget that a leaked developer build of Minecraft Bedrock caused Mojang to censor and strike people's videos. Furthermore, they even disallowed MisterEpic to ever state, talk or upload about MC Dev.

“No one can tell you what you can or cannot do” - Official Minecraft Trailer What Microsoft is doing is the exact opposite of the game’s purpose. The big bad of Minecraft isn’t Herobrine or some made up goofy character, it’s Microsoft.
your not wrong on te good side there is nothing microsoft can do. The amount of things we can do. Im pretty sure at this point if the community wanted they could take the game away from microsoft.
I find this extremely dystopian and like something straight out of a bad dream. To completely remove someone's ability to play a game they purchased, even when not playing with anyone else, is outrageous and pointless. What I loved about Minecraft in the beta/2011 era is that it was so liberating and open and now everything feels locked down and moderated. Pretty soon they'll start censoring Java chat like what happens to bedrock chat *Made the comment prior to watching the video, glad to see he discussed the ridiculous bedrock chat filtering
Minecraft: "We implement chat moderation now. Behave or get banned for life." Modders: "Hand us the scalpel, nurse, we need to cut out this tumorous growth that has spawned here!"
@@aleksandarlazarov9182 they didn't, they just don't care about modders. moderation is about giving you a "safe environment" when using the unmodified game as is. when you mod the game it becomes none of the owner's business
@@graycatsaderow No? Some players want a modded chaotic experience. Anarchy servers aren't for everyone and that's okay. Edgy minecraft and one that is much more liberal was good. I quit multiplayer due to this update.
This kind of thing should honestly be illegal. I suspect it already is in some countries. I know most of Europe has very strong consumer protection laws, it would be worth looking into.
Another important point is the fact that this system won't punish the players really deserving it. Most hackers, griefers, toxic players etc. use NFAs anyways which literally cost CENTS! If they get banned, they will just use another account... So by only buying NFAs you are basically immune to the system and it only is about 1 or 2 USD a month...
@@globeonthethread866 yeah when i was watching the video i had the exact same idea. It is just a question of time until we will se a client with a report spam module.
It makes me wonder if it's some kind of money milking strategy. "Oh you want to play again?...yeah you gotta buy Minecraft again to start a new account".
@@rustyhowe3907 funny part is how most people that get permanently banned are probably just gonna pirate the game / buy a stolen account for much cheaper.
It should be that when you do something wrong on a server, it stays in that server. There is no REASON that it should be for the full game. Even Beethoven understands that, doesn’t he?
My biggest concern is that people will undoubtedly abuse this moderation system as a means to ban players who they hate/spite and or have a "hit" or bounty put upon them. Getting permanently banned from online play on a game you paid for is far to cruel of a punishment, one that I wouldn't wish even on my worst enemy.
Hacked client developers are already talking about implementing mass-report functions. Honestly I hope (assuming mojang will double down on this) that they do, and that it causes so much of an issue they have to change it. That's the only hope I can see right now and it's depressing that it's even having to be like that
The problem with not sharing the reason for a ban is that the banned player may unwittingly commit the same offense again after their ban period is over. Whereas if you tell them why they were banned, they'll be able to make sure they don't break that rule again (not that these rules should exist in the first place).
@@vertopolkaLF But that's the thing: these rules aren't about teaching the players, but controlling them. And the best way to control a population is to create arbitrary laws that they'll naturally and frequently break, and then use that to justify aggressive over-policing. We see this in the real world, now it's in our Minecraft too. I thought video games were supposed to be a means of escapism from the troubles of life!
It's funny how some people are still hard trying to defend microsoft and mojang actions with such dark history of moderation shadowbans and etc (not only in minecraft)
In the start I was like "lol Minecraft is immortal" at the end I was like "if this don't change it goodbye Minecraft". Should we just give money to notch for him to buy Minecraft again?
If they intend to ban people from single player then they need to start refunding people for being banned. I understand banning people from multiplayer but banning from single player is insanely too far
I remember when Microsoft first acquired Minecraft my biggest fear was that they were going to kill support for it and focus on the Bedrock edition. Now I realize, that would've been the good ending.
@@hiddentreasure2161 I've already begun doing that. I only play on 1.16 now, because of this garbage. I can't be reported on 1.16, so please, fuck off mojang.
They do all of this shit to arbitrarily drive sales by banned players buying new accounts. They are not only being shitbags, but they are encouraging ban evasion
@@shadowspartanzeta7 I don't think so, they have similar policies with Forza and Halo as well and for those games you don't need a new copy to ban evade.
This may be why microsoft forced us to migrate. To establish a form of "universal ban", where a ban on any of their platforms means one on all. Just a thought.
One ban to rule them all, one ban to find them, One ban to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them; In the Land of Microsoft where the shadows lie.
@oh no no Mojang is just as much a part of this as microsoft is. Notch should’ve never sold Mojang, it’s clear to me he’s the one that had real passion for minecraft and game development.

@@pringle409 True, though I dislike being labeled as part of a “community” because I play a game. Also I never hated Notch, and I opposed the people that did. It seems to me a loud minority are the ones advocating for these changes the majority does not want.
I remember playing Minecraft for the first time back in 2015, and seeing what it has become 8 years later is just...sad. People said that Minecraft will never lose popularity, and I guess you can't escape the inevitable.
I remember seeing a video in the mid 2010s that was like "One day, you, too, will place your last Minecraft block". I told myself that no, I will never stop playing this amazing game. Oh how wrong I was.
I don't agree with the developers moderating servers that aren't even theirs... Other servers have different values. Let them decide how they want it. It's what Minecraft is all about.
totally agree with you there mate. it's just bullsh*t to interfere mith a moderation system. minecraft servers belong to their hosts and therefore are their property. mojang has no rights to interfere with a servers own moderation system. these bans are going as far as to ripping peoples money out of their pockets because their subscriptions don't get cancelled. and this is a crime called scamming.

I have a feeling this is breaking some consumer laws in EU, Microsoft/Mojang has no right to moderate third-party servers using your own client. This is a serious case of privacy breach in my eyes. Not to mention having a product you paid for preventing you from use of partial or full functionality due to vaguely specified reasons.
Minecraft has gone through a lot over the years. Many times I've thought the game was entering it's last stages, but then it would somehow come through. But this? This might actually be the downfall of Minecraft.
I've already been turned away from minecraft recently, I've been more in favor of terraria because it's still really easy to mod it, and there's just more content in the vanilla game. The only upside minecraft gas compared to terraria rn is that its 3d, which means it has more potential not for mods, but for mini games and big multiplayer games like bedwars
This is very bad for me... I just got banned from Minecraft for 3 days, and I can't play my beloved world "Cheddar Town" anymore 😭 I've also been playing on public servers trying to gather up followers on Xbox Live. I can't do that anymore because of this ban. Repent and follow Jesus my friend! Repenting doesn't mean confessing your sins to others, but to stop doing them altogether. Belief in Messiah alone is not enough to get you into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Contemplate how the Roman empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years to accomplish the religion of the Israelites C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate though because you can start a relationship with God and have proof. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life. - Revelation 3:20 Revelation has been unfolding since Jesus died. The Popes have claimed to be equal to God and set themselves in Jesus' place (antichrist(s)). Vatican City (Which is its own nation BTW) have risen up to fulfill the role of the false prophet Regarding the man of lawlessness or antichrist, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The restrainer that the Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Thessalonians was the Western Roman Emperor, who held back the Popes from taking power. Once the last Western Roman Emperor was removed from power in 476 AD, the Pope was given civil and ecclesiastic authority over Rome; healing the deadly head wound of the beast in Revelation 13, as they took the Emperors title of Pontifex Maximus, leader of the church and state. “We may according to the fullness of our power, dispose of the law and dispense above the law. Those whom the Pope of Rome doth separate, it is not a man that separates them but God. For the Pope holdeth place on earth, not simply of a man but of the true God.” (Source: “Decretals of Gregory IX,” Book 1, chapter 3.) Pope Pius V blasphemed, “The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” (Source: Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Cities Petrus Bertanous Chapter XXVII: 218.) Pope Leo XIII declared, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Source: Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894) The antichrist sea beast of Revelation points to the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, who controlled the Roman beast for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD. Daniel 7:25 says “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” The Popes of Rome spoke against Elohim and proclaimed to be God. They reigned for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD. during which they caused tens of millions of saints to be killed. The Pope’s title is Vicar of Christ, which in Latin is ‘Vicarius Filii Dei’, and equates numerically to the number 666
I mean it's the principle. How could you continue to support companies that not only don't care about you, but are actively looking for ways to screw you and potentially your kids. After 10 years I'm done with Minecraft.
You know why they're going forward with this? Wait about half a year or so. There will be an update to put ads into Minecraft on world loading screens, or for the bedrock marketplace. It's going to happen inevitably, as it is Microsoft.
now that you say it, it doesnt seem the least bit implausible. They have an ESG score and a profit motive just like everyone else, at the end of the day we're gonna be the product
Currently, if your unable to sign in your account on bedrock you can't play single player worlds you have if they are marketplace ones. So if server support ever ends, you lose access to your worlds you paid money for (I have experienced this first hand since I have crappy internet)
No shit? What you basically just said is, "why can't I play in worlds that cost money without confirming that I've spent money!". Like obviously if your not signed into an account you can't play them...
@@darkdwarf007 that's literally the same as any other online game purchasing system.... if steam were to stop existing you'd also lose all your games Edit: if server support does end it'd also mean the end of the game and not just the end of the marketplace
I think if anything, the ban should only affect realms, because that's the server Mojang host, so they can do whatever they want, I really don't think it is reasonable if I was banned from Minecraft multiplayer because I joke about something that is slightly more offensive in the private server me and my friend hosted
honestly not even realms, we pay for the servers, and we should decide how to take care of things for ourselves. no one wants mojang or microsoft to get in our ways
I got shadowmuted countless times when I played bedrock servers, I remember having to check every week with friends if they could see my messages, and more often than not, they couldn’t. I cannot tell you how many damn times I had to type that strain of characters to unmute myself. You’re one of the first RUclipsrs with a large following to bring a light to shadowmuting, thank you.
omg this just reminded me that like a month ago me and my friend couldn't talk to eachother in text chat and I didn't know why but just chalked it up to bugrock doing it's thing. I guess we were both shadow muted
A server I'm active in, Minehut, decided to switch to Mojang chat reporting. A few months later, they switched back to their own moderators because Mojang did NOTHING.
I'm 100% on the community's side on this one. I'm usually the one to take Mojang's side, but frankly, they should stay the heck out of banning players from the game those players paid to get. I love the fact that the modding community is taking a stance here, too. That makes the Amarican in me so happy
what's worst about this, is that it wasn't Mojang's decision to implement this, but Microsoft's so they aren't to blame here, since they first had to implement this on Bedrock, because of compatibility with other consoles
MisterEpic is totally right, we are not supposed to be ruled by so flawed of a system. The fact little info about how to appeal or have no way as to find a reason for why people are banned is just outright atrocious. Not cancelling realms subscriptions right away by the way is really unfair.
This is kind of like the snooper thing: Most people didn’t mind leaving it on, but as soon as mojang took away the option to turn it off, I was kinda mad. Its not like its a big deal, but its the fact that I didn’t have any control over turning it on/off that annoyed me.
It might not even be Mojang doing it, but Microsoft forcing it. They've seemed to have been forcing a bunch of changes on Minecraft (e.g. the Microsoft account requirement).
The crazy thing to me is that Mojang have had smaller backlashes from changes they've made, such as that time in a 1.13 pre-release they changed the texture of bark blocks, and they immediately undid it in the following snapshot because the players didn't like it. I think this absolutely proves beyond reasonable doubt this is a decision handed down by Microsoft, not Mojang.
Stop defending Mojang, they’re no better than microsoft at this point. The passion for game development left Mojang with Notch and it has been gone ever since
You mentioned Mojang a lot in this, but in FitMC's video, he mentioned quite rightly how the community and Mojang had a good realtionship before Microsoft bought Minecraft. Likely this is Microsoft making the game more 'child friendly'.
@@SuperMatheusmp Making the game "child friendly" is just an excuse to exert more control over the players. These sorts of justifications are very often used by dirty politicians who want to push something they know people would reject if they knew the true purpose behind it.
I was thinking that the community's view point of "more realistic = better" might be the only thing that can kill minecraft but microsoft might kill minecraft through sheer stupidity
This is rediculous. This should be up to each individual server. Mojang/Microsoft has no right to control what happens in 3rd party owned servers. You pay for a server, what happens in it should be up to you.
I'm super glad you brought attention to the false banning, I'm a pocket edition player and a few months ago my account was suspended for 14 days. They said the reason was "hate speech". Then I went ahead and appealed at the support team and what they had to say was : "we looked into your case and decided to lift the suspension". Literally no proof or actual reasoning. Talk about highly trained moderators.😒
from what we've seen the bedrock devs a bunch of money hungry ,arrogant snobs who don't give a shit about the community and are just Microsoft boot lickers
Microsoft should be sued for this, like what the hell? Doesn’t servers have the “/report” command? This is ridiculous, imagine you’re playing in a server with no rules (like 2b2t) and someone reports you? Wow Microsoft, great job.
I love how within hours of that feature being added someone already made a mod that can fully prevent you from being reported if its just installed client side, and if installed server side it wont let any player on the server report, even if they dont have the mod. Edit: oh lol he mentioned it in the video
The mod was made earlier when someone reverse engineering the code found a hidden feature that would make reporting possible later, they released it now that reporting is a thing
I've heard that it's mostly Microsoft that's been pushing for these 'features' not Mojang. Really brings their business practices into question. Interestingly, Bedrock is also, from my understanding, managed almost entirely by Microsoft, not Mojang.
@@teknixstuff agreed, the likes of Jeb, Notch, and the rest of the pre-MS team were there to make as good of a game as possible (which they did exceptionally well), now the few of them still there are heavily influenced by some idiots in suits up at Microsoft, and have very little ability to say "no". It's getting to the point where FAANG-level organisations such as MS are collectively forming a Monopoly (Polyopoly?) and consumers have no say in how the products they buy/subscribe to/already own are changed or modified, even when overwhelming amounts of people try to say "no".
The fact that they might take away singleplayer too scares me. And that the customer needs to cancel the the realms subscribtion even after access getting ripped from them is just awful, also if someone is chatting in a realm PAID by them, they should have a right to chat what they want and not be spied or moderated. This kinda does feel like an invasion of privacy action too. Minecraft has always been a community game, let it be moderated and governed by it. I feel many people will go to consumer courts for this LOL
They can't take away your access to singleplayer, as you can always play the game in offline mode where they have no way of determining if you are banned or not.
Fun fact of the day in java edition on a multiplayer server all I need to do to disable chat reporting is install any plugin that does anything with chat
This censor thing is ridiculous, me and a friend were playing on the realm I pay for and we were talking about gas prices in our areas. The mute function which was intordised in 1.17 was the best, since it's player decision on who should we mute, but this moderation system is the worst, some random guy would come to a random anarchy server and banned you because you say 'I am going burn your house' and banned you even though It is a server with no rules and Microsoft forced a rule
I suspect that the mass adoption of mods designed to circumvent microsoft's moderation efforts will only embolden them to start policing what mods are allowed to do in the first place, which would make the current fiasco look like nothing in comparison
If that happens I'll just move to using a cracked version of the game, and I'm sure many others would follow suit. I am a communist, and like to discuss topics with some of my friends about historical figures we consider influential (Lenin, Castro, Ho Chi Ming, etc). This mainly has Microsoft to blame. Microsoft is notorious for ruining great things, like how they enforced an internet connection just to play offline games, or how they started collecting and archiving your data.
I remember McAdmin. Team Avolition really fucked that shit up. If a single greifing team destroys a very popular global ban plugin because of a grudge against it creator imagine what every greifing team effected by this will do to a feature added by the devs.
To be fair, it was still implemented better than Microsoft's. At least that was purely choice: if a server wanted to run it, they could, otherwise they didn't have to, and it didn't ban you from singleplayer.
The Java system isn't going to work, as Java version can simply be modded to block Mojang / Microsoft from even seeing what is going on in your game and even block the report system entirely on their server. This is the main reason Mojang / Microsoft have a love / hate relation with Java edition and have been trying to quietly kill it.
@@benjaminthemandmsgeneral5376 The Java version is really the only viable option, since it's the only one that has any kind of reasonable mod support. If Microsoft kills Java edition, this basically means no more Minecraft modding.

Then almost instantly. I see a RUclips short explaining how to get someone banned that you don't like. It encouraged users to get someone banned for just not liking them. I reported it as cyber bullying.
Over the last few years, I realized that the most overpowered thing in the world is the Internet Hivemind, especially when enough of them are really passionate. I don’t care how good your team of developers/programmers are, they will lose, hard. The second the player report feature was announced, a counter is already in development and within a month, it’s complete. Keep in mind the chat report feature likely took longer. Honestly, what the hell is Microsoft hoping to achieve here, they won’t gain anything from it but a spot next to EA or possibly stealing it’s spot. Honestly, putting 90% of the internet against you when you are a tech company is a bad idea.
And even more. If you piss the internet off enough, in a week you might have nuclear fallout level of disaster by being hacked, doxxed and information leaked. Looking at 4chan there.
If Mojang and Microsoft after all this will still put this in java edition, we should do the hard way.. we should do a massive abuse and false use of the report system making hundreds of bots random report every existing player render the system cluttered and eventually useless in the end maybe then they will listen to the community
It is, actually. Having paid for the game license, the company may not revoke it from you at any time, for any reason. If you retain the original hardware on which it could successfully run, that ability to play the game cannot, by law, be revoked. This holds true in the US, Canada, and the EU. Burn them for hundreds of millions and then never pay for a Microsoft product again.
@@RealTallestSkil Why not murder Microsoft executives? Would that make the Minecraft community happy given how liking Microsoft and Minecraft seem to be mutually exclusive?

Every new update they put out, while it adds some cool new features, overall just makes the game worse. I’ve recently started playing older versions of minecraft, and the game feels so much more fun to play. I wouldn’t be surprised if mojang just removes players’ abilities to play older versions of the game soon. They seem to love cramming their stupid and annoying changes down player’s throats
@@InvalidUser_ While that is true in some cases, don’t forget none of this could happen if Mojang didn’t agree with it. Even giving servers a way to opt out isnt going to be enough. The ONLY way i will support this update is if servers have to opt for it, AND the ban only effects those servers.
I just want it gone. There’s no point for this to exist except for microsoft to screw people over and make them buy new accounts to replace their banned ones

I’m really bracing myself emotionally. Minecraft is hands down my favorite activity in my life. I’ve been playing since 2012 with my best friend. I have literally thousands of hours logged in windows 10 edition alone. I know in my heart that this will be misused, and that a ban could possibly even be triggered by a glitch. I’m trying to distance myself emotionally so that when Microsoft has its stroke ruins the game for good I’ll be able to hit uninstall and go on with my life but it’s going to be hard.
Adapt, improvise, and overcome. They can't stop you from playing multiplayer in the golden age (beta, alpha, infdev). They can't stop you from playing modded multiplayer. They can't stop you from playing cracked servers.
What Mojang (or more accurately, Microsoft) is doing is killing the game. One of the most POPULAR and BEST games in these 10 and more years. It's not even an ordinary indie game anymore. I'm sure we all wish that Minecraft can live on forever...but to be honest? I think the day that Minecraft dies is coming soon, way sooner than we all thought. Worst case scenario, they just drop the game, fire everyone at Mojang, and go on like it never existed. Microsoft already knows their PR is shit for reasons much worse than this, but they've ingrained themselves so deeply into both the business computing and PC gaming markets that they're basically untouchable without a MASSIVE paradigm shift in both industries.

Microsoft doesn’t seem to care about this type of audience they only care about the younger audience so they push these chat filters on both versions of the game to make it more suitable for younger players but I don’t think they realise that without the RUclips/Streamer audiences there sales will drop significantly more than making the game more suitable for older audiences.

My take on this is that if Mojang makes us host and manage our own servers then they should also let us moderate our own servers. Its been this way for years.
my main issue with this feature is that it downright violates the privacy and autonomy that players have of their own servers. especially given that mojang doesn’t pay the server fees on java like they do on bedrock…
I'm afraid, even if we, current players will manage to keep the java clean of chat reporting, the reality is, new users, mostly small kids, will grow up mostly in Bedrock reality, and it will be completely normal for them. They won't question Mojang's actions, because that is going to be the norm to them. Did you know that Germany was pretty much the only developed country that was not photographed using StreetView technology? Did you know why that was the case? It's the older people, that actively fought with Google not to photograph their homes and streets (because of their privacy). Do you know, that now it's changing? Apple, Google, all with their visual map services can finally take photos of Germany, because nobody protests anymore. I feel like the same is going to happen to Minecraft Java. Deep inside, I always felt a little uncomfortable knowing that Microsoft acquired Mojang. I always knew things like chat cotrol and bans for no reason were going to be added in game, just because it's Microsoft. They don't care about you, me, or any player. They care about revenue and power over you.
An idea to raise Mojang's attention to this issue: Someone (perhaps a youtuber) could organise a server event (simillar to MCC) where they invite as many Mojang employees as they can, and while they're all having fun, tasked non-mojang-employee players mass-report all of the mojang employees and the organiser of the event (so it's not as straight forward that this mass-reporting was organised by the same person who organised the event). They have to acknowledge how flawed this reporting system is, if they experiece it's flaws first-handedly.
"where they invite as many Mojang employees as they can," yeah about that, this decision wasn't made by Mojang but by Microsoft, pretty sure this message should be sent to microsoft employees not Mojang.
@@someguy4512 to be fair, it would probably still draw attention to Microsoft if the Mojang developers got banned I don’t really think something like this could be pulled off, even for a popular youtuber lol. They’d have to be close to the developers in some way.

"Trust me, this is a positive move, and nothing you like about Minecraft is going to change." -Dinnerbone (account migration video) You can't tell me he said that without being bribed or metaphorically held at gunpoint.
This HAS to be Microsoft's doing. No way Mojang would ever make something like this. Minecraft used to be a project that didn't involve any censorship or moderation, and ever since Microsoft stepped in, things took a turn for the worse.
Something else to point out, Some servers have plugins that add things like beer and vodka. The mods could ban someone for saying "Give me some more vodka". Some of the servers I play on are entirely not family friendly in the slightest and someone with a grudge can just come in and report the poeple I play with and boom, they are banned.
It's stupid to be banned from realms as the owner of the realm has to invite you, clearly showing that you are welcome to that server. I really am scared of being banned from Minecraft. The first thing we noticed was that certain words were not allowed to be posted in chat. We found out about by saying that we should meet up at the tavern. (since it was in the middle of our town) The message that showed up was "Let's meet up at the". I can see the argument for multiplayer servers but there are too many problems that makes it too dangerous to have.

I agree. WE, the community pays to setup servers. So it should be our rules and our regulations on the server.
Some games have DRMs that reduce performance because they have heavy processes, pirated users get a better experience

Your friends will still ban you.
@@thewhitefalcon8539 This response feels so serious and even a little dark, when in reality it's hilarious. I really appreciate that.

Also, if the report system doesn't care about what language you are talking, there would be a lot of false ban
For exemple "con" is a normal word in english, but a swear word in French, the r-word is also a word meaning "late" in french
If the moderation team ban player, who used those normal word in their language, because it is a swear word in another, then it's another problem
I'd die laughing if a japanese person said "escape" in japanese and got banned for racial slurs.
If you're korean don't say "you" and if you're Spanish, don't say "black".
In my country we laugh using "kkk", imagine if a moderator banned someone because of this
Then there's also spelling too.
If there is a ban system, it should only be done either by the server, or if you're being a problem on official servers, you get banned on official servers, but there's literally not a single reason to ban someone from singleplayer.
servers could already do that. A few years back I got banned from a server for cheating.
The good old days wehn you wont get your account what you payed for banned
and what about a server that you host yourself?

- Revelation 3:20
Revelation has been unfolding since Jesus died. The Popes have claimed to be equal to God and set themselves in Jesus' place (antichrist(s)). Vatican City (Which is its own nation BTW) have risen up to fulfill the role of the false prophet
Regarding the man of lawlessness or antichrist, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The restrainer that the Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Thessalonians was the Western Roman Emperor, who held back the Popes from taking power.
For the Pope holdeth place on earth, not simply of a man but of the true God.” (Source: “Decretals of Gregory IX,” Book 1, chapter 3.)
Pope Pius V blasphemed, “The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” (Source: Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Cities Petrus Bertanous Chapter XXVII: 218.)
Pope Leo XIII declared, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Source: Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894)
The antichrist sea beast of Revelation points to the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, who controlled the Roman beast for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD.

I suspect that the mass adoption of mods designed to circumvent microsoft's moderation efforts will only embolden them to start policing what mods are allowed to do in the first place, which would make the current fiasco look like nothing in comparison

If anything, they'd either just revert the ban or put out some sort of statement trying to uphold it. If it was a smaller company the PR hit would be huge, but for Microsoft even that wouldn't be enough to get them to act because they're too big for that to affect them.

Privacy and Microsoft are to words that don't belong in the same sentence. Unless that sentence is "under Microsoft you have no privacy."
They're boiling the frog...
An idea to raise Mojang's attention to this issue:
Someone (perhaps a youtuber) could organise a server event (simillar to MCC) where they invite as many Mojang employees as they can,
and while they're all having fun, tasked non-mojang-employee players mass-report all of the mojang employees and the
organiser of the event (so it's not as straight forward that this mass-reporting was organised by the same person who organised the event).
They have to acknowledge how flawed this reporting system is, if they experiece it's flaws first-handedly.
It would also be funny to see the employees get hit with a bit of reality
The employees are probably immune tbh
