The reason that dynamic lighting would be "too much of an impact" is due to the official implementation would likely also update the light levels of the world. Optifine's dynamic lighting doesn't do that.
yep, optifine's dynamic lighting is client side and purely visual. it has no effect on the actual light levels of surounding blocks, that's also why it works on vanilla servers.
@arbee_codes good point, perhaps however another issue is that if it's ONLY client side like with optifine, them when playing on servers , your hand held light won't brighten the area for other players. Making the game feel too unpolished for an official feature or something like that? Pretty much the only other counter argument I could think off, and I was trying to play devils advocate here
note that, exploding arrows were not intended to be a feature, but just notch testing out his code of something similar to that. Also waterlogged leaves are in bedrock ,and has been added to java
02:54 This actually exists in Bedrock, servers have the ability to transfer players to other servers directly by requesting the client to reconnect to another server, so you could have a hub server without using proxies to connect all the servers
My main issue with minecraft and mojang is that they seem to (imo) always have lacked a cohesive vision for what the game was to be. In many cases this will develop as the game gets worked on pretty early, but it's been 12 years since the end of beta, and it seems like the game has less of an identity and thought behind it now than it had in mid-2011. While it's easy to say that it's because of nostalgia, beta was not perfect and lacked so much content. Despite this, you can excuse a lot of it because it was early on, and it's just so dissapointing to see that the game feels like it hasn't been improved meaningfully in a game-design way in over a decade. Yeah, they're adding stuff (at a snails pace), but that doesn't matter much when the game feels like a bunch of systems and ideas cobbled together instead of something that is supposed to work and be enjoyed as a whole. I feel like Terraria does this much better, where a lot of the systems shape up together to work across each other to improve the complete experience of a playthrough.
Terraria is really next level and built a sort of RPG style into itself. You have to kill certain bosses at certain times to then unlock different parts of the world (Dungeon, Golem) and/or weapons and ressources (Hardmode ores, the metal bosses, Duke Fishron...); The world completely changes after certain actions (Hallow/Corruption, Pillars)... And the pinnacle of the game: Cultists -> Pillars -> Moon Lord... I mean, wow! You must grind the game to get to the end... And then it continues with pirate invasion, Goblins, Santa army, Pumpkin moon etc. The visuals are amazing and the items all have logic (Vanity and add-ons) and development in themselves. You fuse them together to get a better item etc. It's fleshed out and truly an awesome game.
I think Vintage Story is a good example of what happens when systems are properly woven together and there is a cohesive vision. You basically have to interact with every system in the game to make meaningful progress and level up, and many of the optional ones will make your live 100 times easier (like mechanical power). The game definitely has a very specific vibe and direction to it, which, while it reduces mass appeal and makes it hard to have mods that fit well, gives it a very clear cohesive vision. I'm honestly kind of surprised how much Mojang has struggled to make even the most basic features fit in to the game. Every new Minecraft feature just feels like a random useless easter egg these days.
The difference is that the lead dev of terraria never left the program. Notch had a clear style and direction before he gave up. Without it, Mojang is just left to pick up the pieces. I would argue that a lot of those planned features Notch came up with showcase how much better his design is compared to modern mojang's.

- I remember when Notch talked about the clouds stopping at mountains - If I remember correctly, didn't he try to implement it, but it was too laggy or something? - Vertical redstone kind of is partially implemented using walls and an observer, or piston/slimeblock/redstone block (instant signal). - The scarecrow is also kind of partially implemented in that creepers are scared of cats, hoglins are scared of the blue mushrooms, and skeletons are scared of dogs. Zombies being attracted to villagers has always been the reverse of this. - One other item Notch thought about briefly were dirt slabs (way back in Minecraft Classic, or sometime later in Alpha). He also had "bumpy terrain" at one point, where blocks wouldn't be flat, but slightly raised or lowered - there was a screenshot of this long ago.
It honestly kinda pisses me off that all these "planned" features were never added because of this or that bs reasons. And Dinnerbone saying that Dynamic Lighting would "be too taxing [on game performance]" is a funny way of say Mojang employees don't know how to code, since many mods adds Dynamic Lighting perfectly fine. Mojang is more focused on adding some useless mob that nobody wanted vs actual performance optimization or hacking fixes. SMH 😒👎🏻
The way mods add dynamic lighting is by only visually removing darkness around the player/illuminated object. This doesn't actually change the in game light levels. A dropped torch wont stop mobs from spawning nor will it melt snow or ice. This fake light basic has no real cost on the game. Actual dynamic lighting would need to basically update in game lighting consistently. While the game might be able handle it in single player servers would have it so much worse, just a few people running around a cave might be enough to crash server.
@@AphoticLucent That IS true but, another example I can think of is when Jeb (or some other MJ employee) said they can't add a feature that makes mobs run away from an exploding creeper because the mobs would constantly be checking if there was an exploding creeper nearby every tick, which was slowing down the game. I though that, instead of having every mob always checking if there's an exploding creeper, they should program it in a way so that when a creeper is exploding, it lets out a signal, and when another mob receives this signal (not constantly checking but only when they receive it) then they will run away. (I hope I explained it well) My Point being, you are correct in what you said but there are also always other ways to tackle a problem, especially regarding programming.

portal hallway room with portals made out of different blocks, that lead to another dimensions or worlds or something like that.
vertical redstone should be blue, so that the joints between a blue and red are purple, showing clear connect and disconnect between the two. or add that for both and have pair/disconnect functionality between the two, but idk.
imean, the armor adding effects is kinda in the game now with the turtle helmet
You should check out AVP mod development. Things has been a rabbit hole worthy of a video...
Cool vid, but you went a bit excessive on the music lol
It's like he is fighting a dark souls boss
ikr his videos feel overdramatic
title: notch
what it actually is: jeb and dinnerbone
Mojang could learn something from Notch
notch cries too much good riddance
They should learn how homophobic he is?
Edit: I changed "was" to "is".
Sorry for the Grammer mistake
rush coding

Incredibly entertaining and informative as always, keep going Mister!
Many props to TheMisterEpic for making this video. Top quality content.

Don’t tell canman or he gonna make a angry short XD
I think that mojang should add something like book of knowledge where if u use it u unlock some recipes , for example if u get book of knowledge from desert temple u unlock every recipes related to sand like sandstone and more
Why does this video feel so familiar… it was only posted 14 hours ago but I feel like I’ve already watched it
I love Minecraft. I have loved this game for over 10 years. I just wish they would fix the performance and add official apis.
Day 2 of Asking for Evolution of Minecraft Bedwars.
Hey now - Bane of Arthropods does give slowness IV on impact with a Spider, Cave Spider, Silverfish, Endermite and Bee.
Why is nobody talking about how the land-claim flags Notch considered to add made all monsters in the area completely immortal!?
2:25
Honestly I'm glad better than adventure exists, it really shows us what minecraft could have been.
Well, there was a time in 1.13 bedrock betas that you could waterlog flowers and grass (probably left-over code from the minecon showcase where you can see waterlog grass and "semi" waterlog fences)
You know it’s a good day when Mister uploads
1:29 "Why is it so hard to keep the damn mouth shut" 😂 I've seen this footage so many time and that message always caught my attention. I guess it's a classic hehehe
The music was waaay too intense
04:20 Minecraft bedrock ties a few statistics from achievement enabled worlds to your account on the Xbox network, blocks broken and monsters killed and stuff like that.
However Bedrock isn't developed by Mojang but by Microsoft so this feature isn't correlated to the one suggested
@@ParoXXIVMojang still develops the code for Bedrock (they have a Java team and a Bedrock team)
@@pocketmarcy6990 No, the Bedrock team doesnt follow what the Java team (the main one) says
@@ParoXXIV bro what
11:33 what that spider doing 😂
cloud height is controversial? oh god how dumb they are, they never fail at keeping vanilla so bad
the only question I have about this is HOW. How's this fricking controversial?
@@plaguenplay3516 probably they don't want to add it in game or they can't get it to work properly, also mojang devs are known to be lazy recently
Shame that waterlogged leaves, colored planks and *sideway slabs* are not a thing.
2 of them aren't a thing but we got waterlogged leaves
bruh u always post ur vids at 4am
(don't question why im still awake)
Bane of athropods does give slowness to the mobs it affects
Epic: You should all Pause the Video-
Me: *Pauses*
...
Me: What now?
I think modded Minecraft’s blood moons should be added to vanilla, it would be awesome
I want furnace minecarts back, they would be fun for something like a rollercoaster, or a toy train thing
They still exist...
@@Bombastian1230 not in bedrock
@@swankierSpy2658yah but bedrock sucks in literally every way so what do you expect?
@@Gunkerjunk bedrock is much better at performance than java at worlds,
it has pre 1.9 (or 1.8 i dunno) combat which most java-ers complain about, it has baby squids and dolphins,
It is pretty much the better version of minecraft,
Just cause you play java doesn’t mean any other version is bad,
Java is good in some ways, cooler redstone, furnace minecarts, better mods,
Nothing sucks except your tiny, biased, opinion
@@swankierSpy2658 i’ve played bedrock for 3 years, and gotten java 2 months ago. i KNOW java is better and hello? every single annoying ass glitch that kills you every 30 minutes? java is better, you’re just salty mommy won’t buy it for you.

The thing is, Dinnerbone isn't wrong.
Even those mods' implemenrations are actually taxing (or less taxing, but very hacky in OF's case) and not noticable predominantly for users who never needed optimization mods in the first place, i.e. RUclipsrs with powerful PCs whose opinions are the most visible.
Even when school has started your videos still make my day :)
I will continue saying that there needs to be a crafting recipe that is 2 copper and a redstone that makes copper wire, which looks cleaner than redstone and can go vertically.
that’s a really bad idea ngl
0:43 I want to uninstall eyes now
waterlogged leaves have been added and are very annoying if you're mining large trees like the huge spruce and the jungle trees
7:18 the other way around I assume? Sand into glass, not glass into sand?
Mojang did actually add the claim land feature but in a different way they're called deny blocks or smth
Keep up the great work @TheMisterEpic Really love the content!!!
honestly, now i'm quiet curious on what's in Mojang's to-do lists
Exploding arrows somewhat exist, explosive fireworks can be used in a crossbow, sure its not classified as a arrow but it does similar
Moms must be upset that they didn't go through with the "pause online servers" feature
I love the impending doom pre fight music played here 💪
4:38 i'm assuming what you're showing in the video is the "not pretty" outcome, yes?
At 0:21 That's me totem99 in the chat :D
4:06 is he wearing a rolex?
I love how he shows team AVO footage
its funny how most of these things are "too difficult" to do but modders made it and took it to the extreme XD no we cant have vertical redstone.... okey, here is a chunk loader with a quarry and nuclear reactor, have fun
I don't think they where lying when they say it's "too difficult", it's just too difficult for how insanely inept Mojang is.
