This really is just an unfortunate case of a project which had potential, but the people behind it didnt fully utilise that. One of the biggest things that I dont understand is why Tubbo went dead silent about the project after it was released.
This is (in my eyes) the biggest reason the project failed. The outreach that Tubbo has could have been utilized to bring thousands of players to the server, which could fund more dev time for more content on the server. It's wild to me that he didn't foresee that stopping all promotion would kill the server. He said multiple times that the server was not how he wanted it, same with the other developers. I think they're trying to redo the server to be more fun and then when more gamemodes release everyone will advertise it
To be honest Tubnet still might have potential if tubbo adds some kind of unique modes and play on it while streaming the reason why it's dead is because tubbo might be developing Tubnet and he realises it's not complete yet so that's why he is quite about it
Tubbo stated he doesn't want to be associated with the server, he didn't want people to think about him when they thought about Tubnet, which is really fucking odd, it's his server, yet he rejects overship over it, so there is no promotion.
I kind of get the impression he may have accidentally made a bad deal and lost a lot of creative control of the project at some point and that is why he stopped talking about it and didn't want to promote it. That is actually really common, especially with new/younger content creators. They get a really, to good to be true, deal that seeming helps them make their dream project a reality but in reality lose all control and say in the project...
Tubnet's last chance is probably their planned unique gamemode that is basically galacticraft. If that works out and tubbo gets on advertising it more it might survive long term to add more games and fix current ones
@@Hayr Yeahh it was SpaceBound. I think it's going to be the deciding factor for the future, and if it's as good as it seems, it'll be the reason it comes back!!
I think the fact that TubNet launched around the same time as MCC Island also came as a blow to it. The two servers shared a lot of cross over in audience due to the nature of TubNet being made by Tubbo, and MCCI being, well, MCC. This meant that when TubNet's launch was rather rough, the hype died even quicker due to most of the people interested just migrating over to MCCI. Considering MCCI offered twice the game modes, all of which were already popular and had hype due to them being MCC games, between the two servers it was more appealing. That's how it felt for me at the very least! When I heard TubNet finally launched I was already invested in MCCI and didn't feel much interest in exploring a different server.
Having two massive 1.9 mini game server did cause some cross over. I think that over time more people will come to TubNet for SpaceBound if it's as good as it seems.
As one of the daily players of TubNet and involved community member, I want to say that most of the points are valid. The server advertisements has been rough plus some of the games being a bit repetitive. Although I mainly play and enjoy Light Strike for the pvp team base nature, I see why some don't. Also Battle Royale is 100% the best gamemode with those 10/10 maps by NoNameIdeas being Minecraft's best, plus the cool items that were recently added in the newest update. The next game KnockOut seems super promising as it seems to be inspired on the minigame on Hypixel arcade game called Throw Out. However, imo it still has a chance to come out of this dark time since all things have rough patches and this could be one of them. The launch being moved plus one of the games called Space Bound (MMO) being delayed for over 6 months also caused less hype due to that being the most anticipated game. Despite the low player count though there is a active community which tries to bring attention to TubNet with community ran events, groups, and more. The more times goes on the resources will decrease sadly as it's not worth it, but I hope that point doesn't come. We need Bedrock and bug fixes to have a chance. With the amazing staff team though I believe in the future! Thanks for the great vid on TubNet :D
@@SillyNacho True and I saw that coming. The new style of mc content designed to cater to the algorithm is very stale and also not sustainable. Which is why we still see og communities like Hermitcraft still perfectly thriving as they make more personalized, chill and sustainable content.
I think it's really funny that MCC Island and TubNet were hyped up to be the next big competing servers, but at times MCC Island has over 60 times the player count of TubNet while being in Closed Beta.
By making it closed beta, Noxcrew made it soo if you get in, it's special. It's a great marketing trick and I think having that happened when TubNet launched did effect it a bit. However I think that if TubNet does the competitive events correctly, like the TubNet Competitive Series, then it can come back.
You got to also realize mister epic is in a different time zone than some of us, so their are gonna be different player count depending on the time and time zone.
one big thing u failed to mention: the performance. whenever i join tubnet, my fps dips down to below 40 due to the hundreds of custom models they try to load, but when i join a normal server like hypixel, my fps is usually on a stable 160.
Great analysis! This case study is a good example of why risk management and comprehensive research is important to managing a project like TubNet. The technical limitations behind Bedrock-Java compatibility is a big reason why existing servers and mods of this nature do not scale well. Minecraft modding is inherently prone to instability and limitations as a proper modding API is not officially developed by Mojang. Until that happens, these types of projects may not be so feasible.
Honestly wondered why as soon as it was released there was no more advertisement for it. Was very strange because tubbo seemed really passionate about this project.
Interestingly, he mentioned Cloudflare as being the reason they had to delay. I would assume this is because they realised the Spectrum anti DDOS product racks up the bills super fast, at $1/gb Over 10GB of bandwidth. Myself and others used to run a server that’d get maybe 100 max players daily, and we calculated the rough cost of moving to cloudflare being thousands of dollars a month
I think that one of the big problems with making a minigame server enjoyable is the variety in gamemodes. MCCi has a lot of gamemodes that aren't PVP-centered, with each having a unique concept. I played a few rounds of crystal rush, and it's pretty much the experience you described. it's a slightly different version of bedward, and i'd rather play on a server where I know that I can just join a new game as soon as I'm out, instead of one where I have to wait until there are enough players for a new game to start. There are already so many PVP-Minigame-Servers, and it's pretty much impossible to make a name for your own server, so I think Tubnet should focus more on new gamemodes that aren't all pvp-based, so that they can bring innovation to the market.
Yes, reskinning a few existing games isn't the way to make a unique name for Tubnet. I honestly expected brand new minigames from the hype when it was being announced. So far Ive seen a few event server event streams he had on Tubnet and those open world style play were enjoyable and quite active, but mainly from people making a community and hoping to be on stream.
Exactly! I'm not a super big PVP person, Mostly because my laptop has a lot of lag so I can't do fights But overall it's just my playstyle Not much in the way of that for TubNet 😕
I think if MCCI and Tubnet were to merge, and combine their gamemode libraries, they could make a pretty solid 1.9+ server. For both servers, it just feels like their is not enough content to consistently play on.
The biggest turn off for me was the total squandering of potential that comes with innovating on older game modes, but also the total disregard for anything that could act as a draw for 1.8.9 players who prefer more precise faster paced minigames.
to be fair, the development started 4 years ago. if it had been finished back then, it might have worked out, as the minigames it has were still popular, and people would have enjoyed the small twists and differences from what they were used to. after the games started dying out though, its not like tubbo would be able to make new minigames that people still liked, as that would basically be starting everything from scratch. it would have become another hytale, with huge hype but never released.
This case seems quite similar to the skyblock isles incident. A lot of hype, not enough managing to keep it alive and youtubers don't caring about it, dies in few months. Man i miss that server :(
as someone whos part of the handful of the current tubnet community (im specifically someone who focuses more on the lore and story thats slowly being put together) this is a good video on what went wrong with tubnet, ive found that a lot of the other videos seem a lot more... accusatory? i guess? but i didnt really feel that from this video. i think what could either really bring back tubnet (or be the final nail in the coffin) is spacebound finally releasing. because from what i could see, that was the game most people were hyped for, it was promised to be there on release. and then it wasn't. and we havent gotten anything concrete about its development since. which i think is intentional. they realized they messed up raising so much hype about it only for it to not be there on release, and they dont want to get peoples hopes up only to drop them. which is also likely why its taking so long, cuz once again, i feel the tubnet teams know spacebound is very important to the future of tubnet, so of course they want to get it right. i also do hope tubbo eventually gets more active in the advertising. im hoping he's just waiting for the server to reach a more polished state and have a wider array of games or something. like, the community members who run events like tubnet tourneys and lightstrike summit are doing more for keeping the community alive than tubbo is.
what’s also interesting to add is that the server is currently funded by not only tubbo, but also the organization he is in with some of the head people of that organization being involved in tubnet. So until they both run outta money the server should still be around long enough for em to fix it somehow
Yup, I can't imagine making a server in 2023 and saying: "You know what game modes we should add? Survival Games and Cops & Crims" Both of those died years ago, even on the biggest servers.
I dont really get why yall are comparing lightstrike to cops n crimes, first off, it is a melee weapon game, it does focus teamwork way more than cops n crimes + the bomb objective
as someone who is usually pretty in the loop about minecraft stuff, it was really surprising for me to just learn about this server today (through minutetech's video). this server def had reach problems, there wasn't a lot drawing people in even though it seems quite well-made
It's nice to see new servers trying to become the next big thing, but it generally just doesn't go well. I remember hearing about the server alot last summer, but heard it got delayed, didn't know the server was even out until I saw an event a youtuber was in, I don't really follow Tubbo or the twitter so it went under my radar. The question to all servers is basically, would you play on a server that might end within a year, or just play Hypixel? I remember a few years ago Grian had a mini game server I quite liked, but that one shutdown really fast, which was the last time I really played on any server other than Hypixel.
In my opinion, no bedwars style game can come close to hypixel, and thats only because every one of them feels like it takes too long to get going, or to do things in general. On hypixel, you get iron and gold relatively fast, and you can get to other islands relatively fast. Beds break extremely fast because they're beds, and thats honestly an issue I see across all servers other than hypixel. It takes too long to break the "bed" so to say.
Just today perspectives released on "Tubnet Tuesday" where he got multiple creators to do the battle royale gamemode, likely a play on words of Minecraft Monday. That should hopefully bring in some traffic but let's hope for some significant new gameplay innovation sometime.
Forgot to mention that they also straight up had/still have the server forced on the top of all lunar client player's serverlists... all this, yet still hitting lows of 0-3 players
I had no clue it existed. I had it in my server list and clicked join and it told me to upgrade my version from 1.8.9 to 1.18+. I went on latest release and was shocked when I was actually able to join. I thought it was still being developed
@@wortwortwort117 what kinda response is that? They don't rebalance anything around game rules, the default is "on" for a lot of them, like mob griefing and phantoms. So no, it's not a bad idea, it'll simply just be a cooldown toggle + attribute change for weapons. That's not the hardest thing in existence, that's really simple compared to everything else in the game.
@@zephranarx2172 game rules are very simple, like mob grieving is a value of on or off that is checked as a creeper explodes to see if blocks should be blown up. That is not remotely as complicated as changing damage values & cooldowns for all weapons, making throwables have a cooldown, toggling sword blocking (and how that conflicts with having an offhand slot), making fishing rods do damage, as well as throwables like snowballs, changing mob behavior to account for the player doing 5x damage per second (things like warden being much more killable potentially) Not only would you need to tweak those features and much more to fit the gamerule system, you would need to update both combat systems as new updates are added. All of that work would be better put towards... making more updates/ making the new combat system they made snapshots for. If it was as simple as you say mojang would've done it
@@wortwortwort117 Dude I guarantee that weapon changes are the least complex compared to a lot of more major things they do with the game, I.E. like terrain generation and rendering. Anyway; I disagree with your opinion, and the pros outweigh the cons, as a good chunk of players haven't even gone past the combat update.
i think tubbo only using his twitch subs as testers was a bad idea bc these ppl were excited to play with him on this exclusive server and were not gonna critise it in anyway so it built up his expectation of what the general minecraft players would think also he solely relied on his fans playing. I was subbed until like june 2022 so i saw the testing phase and stuff and subscribers opinions during that
I logged onto Tubnet with my GF back when it first released. We don't play multiplayer servers at all and were consequently too intimidated to join in the 2 mini games they offered. We spent an hour or two just running around the city and practicing parkour with a bunch of other players. We never logged back on afterwards, so it's pretty sad to see what it's turned into.
I tried playing tubnet early on release and finding out that the only games on launch were just bedwars and pvp and then a bunch of minigames hidden around the map that for whatever reason were not accessible through an easy menu. I was under the impression that there'd at least be one non pvp gamemode and was deeply disappointed and just didn't come back. on top of the fact that all the parkour was confusing and too cluttered because of it being integrated into the map. On one hand, really cool, but in practice it was a constant state of "okay, i got somewhere, but i literally cannot figure out where to go for the next checkpoint". And again- no menu-based teleports to parkour starts. You had to get lost in the city to find parkour locations.
All this talk about various Minecraft servers and what happened to them got me thinking about an old server I used to play on called UberMC, it was essentially a collection of various classic Minecraft mini-games like Dwarves Vs Zombies, Classic Skyblock, Skywars, the original Walls, Cops and Robbers, just to name a few. It was my all time fav server, but one day it just randomly disappeared, and I can't find much on it outside of like 2 Reddit threads which is weird because I remember that it was quite popular... Needless to say, it kinda bummed me out because it had all of my favorite classic mini games of all time in one place and a lot of the games you simply just can't find anywhere else or just have been made complete garbage IMO
As someone who was kind of out of the loop of this whole server until the trailers, I had the idea that this server was more of a do anything you want in a city. A gta like server. Buy and apartment, do hiests, fun minigames, etc. I joined on launch day and it was just another Hypixel want to be. But it only had 3 gamemodes and none of them were that fun. There was an entire map for spawn but nothing filling it and seemingly no reason for it. Its a server that after 5 minutes, it got boring and then I forgot about it tbh
lack of an at least decent anticheat definitely contributed. someone tweeted "it will 100% have a worse anticheat than hypixel and will be flooded with full anticheat disablers and super insane bypasses for probably ever" and in response tubbo replied "What makes you think that?" a few days after the servers release, an ac disabler went public and was quickly added to clients, and they still work.
Minecraft servers made by youtubers die a week or 2 after release because of bordum and hype going down ive seen that happen to many new Minecraft youtuber servers
i havent played og network in so long i didnt even know about the civilization feature so im going to join again tomorrow as it is a little late to be doing so tonight
From what I've seen, the server was a victim of its own success. Tubbo did an amazing job of creating a community-driven server, but the sheer number of players caused the server to become unstable and laggy. Hopefully, they can find a solution to the technical issues and get TubNet back up and running smoothly.
I saw this in my notifications and I had a mini heart attack when I didn't see the red arrow right away. I felt sick to my stomach then I checked again, and it was there. I have never felt more relief in my life when I saw that red checkmark, never take it out of the thumbnails. The Red Checkmark is a staple of the channel, plus it wouldn't be good if it disappeared.
Agreed. Unless the video has a large red checkmark or red circle I just cannot watch it. Maybe if it has family guy and subway surfers, ok, but that’s the only exception! I LOVE SHORT ATTENTION SPANS!!
Im pretty sure the whole thing simply ran out of funding cuz the whole minecraft twitch thing slowly died. He used to get 30k viewers on every stream and now he barely hits 2k. Which is still a lot, but I guess simply not enough for such a huge project, considering that thousands of subs got cancelled and he doesnt have such a huge flow of income anymore.
I remember learning that TubNet was public, from a random video in my Recommendations. At the same time I also bought the pass to play on MCC Island. I even streamed my first time playing TubNet and my 2nd time playing MCC Island. I also hoped onto Hypixel and Mineplex because why not. The time I spent on TubNet was such a low percentage of the stream when I did my timestamps I ended up merging it with me playing Mineplex. The most I played was Hypixel and MCC Island (which I feel in love with). TubNet already feels like Mineplex for me. I server I really want to enjoy, but isn't getting much love and barely gets anyone to play.
i think battle royale could honestly do well drawing on sg nostalgia but also being different/not stale. i hope to see more from them and it honestly just sounds like they’re trying to fix compatibility issues and glitches before advertising
I'm actually astonished that you didnt mention MCC Island. The two SMPs came out at around the same time to about the same audience, but MCC Island succeeded in every place where Tubnet failed. MCCI did a slow release to closed beta testers via MCCI Tickets- those tickets were highly sought after and the island was hyped up and exclusive. MCCI had new fun gamemodes that no one had ever seen before that were fun and balanced. Everyone loved playing it, it had and still has an active set of social medias, and the event that it's tied to is still very popular. MCCI only just now launched to open beta, but its still insanely popular even without one big "launch" date.
0:35 dang, he left the dislike of the trailer shows how Tubbo's server has a lot of potential but failed to do so on the long term even though I dont watch Tubbo's content
Omg I remember being so excited for this when it was announced since it could have bedrock and java, then totally forgetting about it till seeing this video
I'd like to say also that TubNet is using a *LOT* of custom model data/NBT data. As far as my tests, a lot of custom model data can't really be replicated in the same way for Bedrock edition players as it can Java in ways that are too difficult to explain, which is what I believe was another flaw of TubNet and why I was doubtful but ignorantly hopeful it would be crossplay from the start...
No MC servers by RUclipsrs will be as consistent as the OG servers like Nexus because of the consistent promotion and playing on servers back then. Mitch and Jerome would always play SG on there, also capture the wool. Hypixel is still going strong despite its age because everyone makes videos on it
Great video! I think another issue with lightstrike is that csgo and valorant are both free and that wasn't the case when minestrike was big. I wish tubbo the best but he clearly didn't do his research on market demand for a new server
People who say anything is a hypixel killer. Probably does not know that hypixel has changed almost nothing. Still gets 10s of thousands of players everyday and makes a lot of money from it
they definitely needed more promotion. i didnt even know it existed until like 6 hours ago, and i watch most of the huge creators that were taking part in events and stuff. nothing on any of their channels until the videos of them already doing the events, fully edited and everything came out
I just tried to connect to the tubnet server, and it requires the use of a resource pack to connect in. This is an automatic turnoff for me, as I like to use the default one only. I disconnected, and won't even get the chance to try out the server at all now.
11:35 "Although the lack of shields makes axes feel far too strong" Ah yes, the lack of the thing that gets countered by axes makes them feel too strong.
Axes do ridiculous damage, thus a shield is useful if you are fighting an opponent and get hit. It can help you flee, as long as you get hit only once.
It is literally because NOBODY knew it launched. If I knew I would’ve played.

I remember TubNet being so hyped, but I guess them backing out on some of the announces features lead to it's eventual downfall. Great video on the topic though!
I think the main problem was the lack of anything original. Most games you can play somewhere else and people most likely have done that and don't want to start from the beginning again.
I haven't watched yet but you made a video about Tubnet pretty quick lol. Edit:I didn't know it died omg. Also i hadn't realized it's been that long since I mostly watch Hermitcraft and watched Empires plus still watch other stuff from players of both servers sometimes.
There's definitely a reason, they've just not said what it is. My best guess is that Tubbo wants to make the server better and add more content to it before advertisements roll out, because if they were to advertise while having little content (while also being very unpolished), then that's a disaster waiting to happen and everyone will just leave and not think to come back to it ever again. But if it is a genuinely really good server with enough content to grind and sustain a playerbase, then that's the road to success. If I were Tubbo I would've made enough quality content and then released the server rather than what ended up being, but in regards to the current situation, what (I assume) they're doing now is the best choice.
He talked about how he didnt want TUbNet to be known because of him im pretty sure thats why he didnt stream it that much he talked about it in his interview with Anthony
This honestly reminds me of the Vanoss Crew Calendar stuff a while back. 2 popular content creators, Nogla and Wildcat market something they know a significant audience will buy, maybe even sell all of it to, but due to the lack of promotion and excess supply, plus in the end it's just a another boring ass calendar, they ended up just selling a few, with the rest being thrown in the trash or being burned by Wildcat in a pile.
I played TubNet when it first came out with the two gamemodes, but I dont like PvP much. On Hypixel, I often play arcade games due to their different goals and playstyles. Once I saw both gamemodes were PvP, I gave up.
Theres a server I play on with about 40 loyal players, and about 50 concurrent players at any time. Not big, but dedicated staff and playerbase. If only it was a little less p2w
It reminds me of Stevorium, it was a modded SMP that had little advertising before and after it released which led to the server shutting down due to no finding
I remember trying to play tubnet and having nothing on the server work for me, so I left it for a couple months then tried again thinking it was maybe because of how many people were in the server. It still didn't work so I've never got to actually experience it for myself :(
TubNet has mostly 4550 players ??? Polish, the most popular server that exists and is still popular, ever has mostly 7000 players. The serwer is also owned by youtuber but with 850 subs. This server is also an example that 1.19 combat can be used in bed wars. These servers have bedwars 1.8 , bed wars 1.19 with life steal, box pvp and anarchy smp. Only 3 modes but still more popular than English server made by 5M streamer. It's kind of strange.
He said multiple times that the server was not how he wanted it, same with the other developers. I think they're trying to redo the server to be more fun and then when more gamemodes release everyone will advertise it. However, if that doesn't come to fruition, it will end up in the graveyard of failed Minecraft servers.
At this point with minecrafts multiplayer environment, you need to do absoluelty everything in the most perfect way all the time on the long term to even have a chance
I think MCCI has two major advantages. (1) they’ve had two years to prefect their game modes with MCC and (2) the very existence of MCC will continue to advertise MCCI and creators often play MCCI to practice for MCC, therefore bringing in more advertisement
I remember I played "Crystal Rush" or something until I ran into an antikb hacker. I think he was flying as well. They have the best anticheat on tubnet.

@@EthernetDasCoisas Yeah i think there are so many MC videos that its gotten too diluted and stale
@@EthernetDasCoisas
I think it’s because due to dream smp death since it’s one thing that brought everyone together with lore
@@Samzatas yeah and the loss of technoblade. he really kept mcyt together
@@SillyNacho True and I saw that coming. The new style of mc content designed to cater to the algorithm is very stale and also not sustainable. Which is why we still see og communities like Hermitcraft still perfectly thriving as they make more personalized, chill and sustainable content.
I mean they spent alot of money on it and still are. I think they will be promoting alot in summer.
I think it's really funny that MCC Island and TubNet were hyped up to be the next big competing servers, but at times MCC Island has over 60 times the player count of TubNet while being in Closed Beta.
true
I mean.. This video already isn't correct with numbers closer to 3-4 times (on weekends 92 people was online)
goes to show you cant just rely on your name to cover up your projects shortcomings
There few easy foxes simulated rendering put it lower... And magic here is your FPS back.
@geomembrane4959mc is mostly cpu based I think
Great analysis! This case study is a good example of why risk management and comprehensive research is important to managing a project like TubNet. The technical limitations behind Bedrock-Java compatibility is a big reason why existing servers and mods of this nature do not scale well. Minecraft modding is inherently prone to instability and limitations as a proper modding API is not officially developed by Mojang. Until that happens, these types of projects may not be so feasible.
Honestly wondered why as soon as it was released there was no more advertisement for it. Was very strange because tubbo seemed really passionate about this project.
I've never heard of Tubnet until it was being talked about dying
Same here
Yea. RUclips algorithm what to say.
This was glazed over, "cloudflare couldn't handle all you guise joining" kek
That's just a lie and the video doesn't even address it
I think that one of the big problems with making a minigame server enjoyable is the variety in gamemodes.
Exactly!
I'm not a super big PVP person, Mostly because my laptop has a lot of lag so I can't do fights
But overall it's just my playstyle
Not much in the way of that for TubNet 😕
Man i miss that server :(
There are some similarities
Yea it seems oddly similar
is coming back soonTM, a team is reviving it and theyre posting dev updates in their server
as someone whos part of the handful of the current tubnet community (im specifically someone who focuses more on the lore and story thats slowly being put together) this is a good video on what went wrong with tubnet, ive found that a lot of the other videos seem a lot more... accusatory? i guess? but i didnt really feel that from this video.
i think what could either really bring back tubnet (or be the final nail in the coffin) is spacebound finally releasing. because from what i could see, that was the game most people were hyped for, it was promised to be there on release. and then it wasn't. and we havent gotten anything concrete about its development since.
which i think is intentional. they realized they messed up raising so much hype about it only for it to not be there on release, and they dont want to get peoples hopes up only to drop them. which is also likely why its taking so long, cuz once again, i feel the tubnet teams know spacebound is very important to the future of tubnet, so of course they want to get it right.
i also do hope tubbo eventually gets more active in the advertising. im hoping he's just waiting for the server to reach a more polished state and have a wider array of games or something. like, the community members who run events like tubnet tourneys and lightstrike summit are doing more for keeping the community alive than tubbo is.
what’s also interesting to add is that the server is currently funded by not only tubbo, but also the organization he is in with some of the head people of that organization being involved in tubnet. So until they both run outta money the server should still be around long enough for em to fix it somehow
I’ve never heard of it
I think that's one of the reasons it died
Me too lol
same
Same
But I don’t watch mincrafters so yea
Me either
Yup, I can't imagine making a server in 2023 and saying:
"You know what game modes we should add? Survival Games and Cops & Crims"
Both of those died years ago, even on the biggest servers.
Cops and Crims is going super strong. Take it you’re an unranked noob 😂
@@idrivehoopties "Cops and Crims is going super strong"🤣🤣🤣🤣
About as strong as Turbo Kart Racers
@@djarogamesyep. Both of them are thriving with a heavy competitive scene. Just cause you’re a noob doesn’t mean they’re dead 😂
@@idrivehoopties super strong with like 10 players 💪
I dont really get why yall are comparing lightstrike to cops n crimes, first off, it is a melee weapon game, it does focus teamwork way more than cops n crimes + the bomb objective
as someone who is usually pretty in the loop about minecraft stuff, it was really surprising for me to just learn about this server today (through minutetech's video). this server def had reach problems, there wasn't a lot drawing people in even though it seems quite well-made
This is an absolutely amazing video with more detail to this subject than you can imagine. Great Work, keep it up!
I personally think that makes it more boring and less intense. But it makes total sense that its the prefered way to play
Just today perspectives released on "Tubnet Tuesday" where he got multiple creators to do the battle royale gamemode, likely a play on words of Minecraft Monday. That should hopefully bring in some traffic but let's hope for some significant new gameplay innovation sometime.
With the last charity event, I think they're pushing for more content stuff to bring hype for new updates!
I feel like MCCI also provided most everything TubNet had except cross-play, which they didn’t manage to get working
i’ll be real, didn’t even realize it opened.
just assumed it was still in the works til this video released.
"Even Mineplex is putting out better numbers" Aged like milk on a hot sunny day

Half of the player base on that server was just trying to ddos it.
yup
Lol what
I definitely experienced a lot of ridiculous things due to early installment weirdness
@@TheMisterEpichypixel ss made a video on it🤷♂️
I don't play it because it's 90% PVP, I'd like there to be at least one aspect that's similar to just playing Minecraft regularly
Mojang really needs to give us a "1.9 combat" gamerule.
Terrible idea. That would be twice the work load to balance all new features around 2 forms of combat
@Cassowary Egg Very unfortunate, hope there'll be some form of reconsideration in the future.
@@zephranarx2172 game rules are very simple, like mob grieving is a value of on or off that is checked as a creeper explodes to see if blocks should be blown up.
That is not remotely as complicated as changing damage values & cooldowns for all weapons, making throwables have a cooldown, toggling sword blocking (and how that conflicts with having an offhand slot), making fishing rods do damage, as well as throwables like snowballs, changing mob behavior to account for the player doing 5x damage per second (things like warden being much more killable potentially)
Not only would you need to tweak those features and much more to fit the gamerule system, you would need to update both combat systems as new updates are added.
Shame how things look so promising, and suddenly fall so fast! 😢
Tubnet shows us that consistent marketing is really important for anything!
Its a server that after 5 minutes, it got boring and then I forgot about it tbh
lack of an at least decent anticheat definitely contributed.
someone tweeted "it will 100% have a worse anticheat than hypixel and will be flooded with full anticheat disablers and super insane bypasses for probably ever" and in response tubbo replied "What makes you think that?"
a few days after the servers release, an ac disabler went public and was quickly added to clients, and they still work.
So crazy how Tubnet died. They never released that rocket ship game either, I was so hyped for that. Great video though!
I didnt even know what TubNet was until now. I only heard about it from the live event it had.
It’s disguisting how I watched monster school like 9 years ago, when it wasn’t even cringe and it devolved into that. R.I.P my childhood
I server I really want to enjoy, but isn't getting much love and barely gets anyone to play.
ngl I love finishing school and seeing a TheMrEpic video in my recommended!
i think battle royale could honestly do well drawing on sg nostalgia but also being different/not stale. i hope to see more from them and it honestly just sounds like they’re trying to fix compatibility issues and glitches before advertising
Thanks for explaining! Everyone needed a reason to be discussed for a long time.
I'm not going lie. I didn't even realise it released.
Still gets 10s of thousands of players everyday and makes a lot of money from it
I legit did not know this server existed, I dont know how I did not hear about it
"The lack of shield makes the axe way too op" ..... do i need say more
Yea I don't think a shield is gonna do much there haha
they definitely needed more promotion. i didnt even know it existed until like 6 hours ago, and i watch most of the huge creators that were taking part in events and stuff. nothing on any of their channels until the videos of them already doing the events, fully edited and everything came out
I just tried to connect to the tubnet server, and it requires the use of a resource pack to connect in. This is an automatic turnoff for me, as I like to use the default one only. I disconnected, and won't even get the chance to try out the server at all now.
We don’t want you anyways you noob
“Even Mineplex is putting up better numbers”
Damn
11:35 "Although the lack of shields makes axes feel far too strong" Ah yes, the lack of the thing that gets countered by axes makes them feel too strong.
Axes do ridiculous damage, thus a shield is useful if you are fighting an opponent and get hit. It can help you flee, as long as you get hit only once.
After they hit your shield you hit them
I mean Axes in general are very powerful, just a basic stone axe has like 8 damage.
The real reason swords aren't that good on this server, is the fact that it has bad kb.
It is literally because NOBODY knew it launched. If I knew I would’ve played.
I remember TubNet being so hyped, but I guess them backing out on some of the announces features lead to it's eventual downfall.
Great video on the topic though!
I think the main problem was the lack of anything original. Most games you can play somewhere else and people most likely have done that and don't want to start from the beginning again.
that smooth af promotion got me, if i actually had an account id totally join
I haven't watched yet but you made a video about Tubnet pretty quick lol.
Edit:I didn't know it died omg. Also i hadn't realized it's been that long since I mostly watch Hermitcraft and watched Empires plus still watch other stuff from players of both servers sometimes.
How did they have 4 years of development and only have 2 gamemodes that are even worse than the original ones they were ripped of?
So uh is there any real reason why Tubbo just straight up refused to ever advertise on the server that he himself built?
He talked about how he didnt want TUbNet to be known because of him im pretty sure thats why he didnt stream it that much he talked about it in his interview with Anthony
why would he call it tubnet then? seems like a stupid name if he wants it to be well known on its own
I rly feel like a server called advancius(not promoting) deserves a big playerbase, they have fun gamemodes and are cross compatible
They had the money, but not the idea.
Once I saw both gamemodes were PvP, I gave up.
the only reason i was excited for tubnet was because of the space game...
It's still coming soon :D!!
Tbh the crystal rush could make it a shorter gap between islands than standard Bedwars
MisterEpic Has truly become a SunnyV2 of minecraft
dumb question: is multiplayer player count overall just down? I haven't focused on mini-game multiplayer for years now
Very hard to tell due to the diverse array of servers, but I don't think so
Thanks for making videos that actually explain and answer the title
It's kind of strange.
tubnet has 10 players
So they made a server which didn't scale. The devs were rookies it seems.
Tubbo is unable to moderate his own server. That is how it is, even with events in other servers.
didnt even realise the server was a thing untill 2 motnhs after it was released
I think MCCI has two major advantages. (1) they’ve had two years to prefect their game modes with MCC and (2) the very existence of MCC will continue to advertise MCCI and creators often play MCCI to practice for MCC, therefore bringing in more advertisement
Can't wait to watch!
I remember I played "Crystal Rush" or something until I ran into an antikb hacker. I think he was flying as well. They have the best anticheat on tubnet.
