The reason cracked servers are so popular in not English speaking countries is just because Mojang isnt adjusting their prices to the region, so in a lot of places Minecraft is just not worth the price.

minecraft isn't even really worth it when they made it all bedrock edition
bedrock edition sucks and they are forcing people to convert from java
if you own minecraft on console you have to download mods on your phone just to play on a server that isn't owned by mojang.
which i must say the mojang servers are unplayable.
when you have every single player who bought the game have to pick between 10 or less servers that already have all the chunks claimed, or is so basic that you just need a tnt with a button to shoot tnt into someones base to get into it. that lags to the point you can't move, you can't claim land. you can't do anything.

Twink accounts isn't a mistranslation, in europe over many years twink has been used as a term for alt, or specialized, for example in WoW twinking is the practice of making a character levelling them to a certain level and then stopping there and gearing them with the best gear for that level, this is pretty common with lvl 19 twinked rogues for examples. But it is funny in a modern context-

    • @Dwyer69

Makes sense they'd be banning it since it's a massive problem in player driven economies.

Just wanna say that Russian "anarchy" game mode just generally isn't the same as the rest of the world. It's more like factions servers with possibility to grief others' bases with all means possible, *but* breaking/placing blocks by hand. The game mode likely got popularized before the "total anarchy" popularity boom, hence the confusion.

the servers get such low tps you can't move. they also don't want anyone else to join and will actively chase new players away with their kits they duped 1000s of times while lowering the tps to an unplayable amount....
the only perk is you get to see the "history" of the server which people blew up with their stacks upon stacks of duped tnt. 2b2t was fun when it had history, they ruined all the history now it's just a server you go lag and hack on

As someone from Poland, I can confirm I've seen people download cracked launchers (mostly Crystal Launcher) and play on kokscraft during IT classes, in libraries, and probably a lot at home too. I don't blame anyone for doing this though: our economy isn't exactly the best, and even if you have the money - you have to go through many hoops to buy the game without using a payment card, which kids obviously don't have (and most of them don't want to risk getting into trouble by borrowing their parents' card). When I bought the game many years ago, before I had a bank account - my only option was paysafecard, and even that was a nuisance as at the time you couldn't even buy the game for actual Polish złoty, you absolutely had to pay in Euro. Kids here just don't have the money or if they do: don't want to bother going through so much just to get a legal license, when they'll probably join cracked servers likely sponsored by popular Polish RUclipsrs anyways.

    • @FrostedGeulleisia
      @FrostedGeulleisia Год назад +2

I admit I discovered the game in the 1.1 days via cracked launchers too, and I didn't buy it until many, many years later, just because it was too out of reach. I did play on cracked servers in 2013/2014 which were still up and running when I checked on them in 2020, and I honestly kind of miss them. I don't feel safe joining them on my proper account though.
One server in particular had a game mode named "annihilation", which (while obviously stolen, but I didn't know it at the time) felt unique and was genuinely fun, I don't remember which proper server had it, but someone can probably help me there.
Four teams, four nexuses, five "phases" each lasting like 5 to 10 minutes. Phase 1 was indestructible nexuses, phase 2 you could start damaging them, phase 3 diamonds appeared on the map, phase 4 you get access to blaze powder from the brewing shop, phase 5 nexuses take double damage, you can respawn as long as your nexus is there, can't break naturally present blocks etc. I especially remember that one map that everyone always picked, with four castles in the corners.

    • @FrostedGeulleisia
      @FrostedGeulleisia Год назад +1

one last thing you note: those servers, back in 2013 at least, were monetized using premium SMS-based purchases, which in some of the more unique modes (like Warriors vs Monsters, which was custom made on behalf of a RUclipsr sponsoring one of those servers) basically made it impossible for monsters to win if you had a couple paid2win players on the warrior team. it was scummy, way too scummy.
One other server, it was named cube-something, forgot the latter word. It had a mode called Cave Wars, which was just SkyWars but in a "cave" (in reality it was just a single "//set" command to spam random relevant blocks everywhere), as janky as it was - it was still quite fun. If anyone knows if that was ripped off from somewhere - let me know.

90% of game piracy could be ended with adding regional prices. Most stuff is priced in USD and the price is the same all around the world. 20$ for an American can seem like a petty money, but for many countries and individuals in them it can be 4-10x times more expensive in comparison.

Most of these regions have regional prices on Steam. Piracy is still massive, it hardly makes any difference. People there just refuse to pay for it even if it costs them 10 cents. These regions will always stay poor with that kind of thinking, because it's not only about games, it's about every service/product, even the local ones. As long as it is somehow available for free, they would refuse to pay for it even if acquiring that thing costs them more money in time than the asking price.
And for companies it hardly makes any business sense. "Popularity" does not translate to official merch sales in those countries. If the multiplayer is ran on their servers, it might end up in costing them money to offer regional pricing.

    Hi there.
As an ex-administrator of Fakepixel, I can assure you that they are doing everything legally (well, maybe except the sponsor ranks, which I agree that they are against the EULA).
Yes, the server was run, and is run by Russian Staff, and was founded by a Russian Staff Member, which got excluded from the staff team, late october this year, and, especially after being the founder, I find this hilarious.
I've been told that there was a few incidents before where a hypixel staff member found fakepixel and told the rest of the Hypixel Team about it, but since Fakepixel is custom coded and everything, Hypixel agreed to let us (well, them) run it. We had a few of Hypixel's staff members join our server and comment, including one of the administrators, which I will not name, but I remember we had a chat and, not gonna lie, it was really funny.

It definitely raises the question of how legal it is to repackage the entire Minecraft client and lock out single player and other servers except for their own. And it sees crazy player counts as well, if I remember correctly somewhere of around 20,000. And it doesn't even use forge nor fabric for modding, they have a custom mod loader for that to avoid cheats. It also has P2W + gambling elements in it, though not as crazy as in some other servers

In regards to Pika and Jartex being very similar, this is due to the fact that both are owned and operated by the CraftiGames development team. They are sister servers in essence, and the CraftiGames owners have decided to give each of the servers their own niches that keep their player bases mostly separate, such as more relaxed rules on Jartex and modes geared towards older players, and stricter chat rules on Pika designed to make it a more welcoming place for younger players. As a long time staff member of Jartex, and a member of that community almost exclusively throughout my time playing Minecraft, I feel that the community fostered on the server is unique and wonderful in the same way many premium server's communities are, if not more so due to the amount of new young players from all over the world we bring in and interact with. I also want to note that when Jartex was blocked recently, our owners very quickly and effectively negotiated with Minecraft support, made the necessary changes to abide by the EULA, and got the server block lifted within a couple days. As a staff team, we also did not attempt to bypass the block in any way, and directives were given as soon as the block was issued not to share alternate ips with players but rather to let the owners negotiate it since we wished to cooperate fully.

About Crystalix, it is a client server made by Demaster, which you also named in this video. It is a fun server without pay to win, having OWN gamemodes, as I haven't seen anybody else using some that they have.
One of the modes is: Custom Steve Chaos, survive waves which get stronger each round gaining random gear after each wave, you can also buy stuff from money you earned by killing mobs in waves.
There are also fights each wave, 2 random teams selected to fight eachother, whoever wins gets additional bonus money.
You can also bet your life savings on whoever wins, if somebody who you bet on will win, you get x2 money, if he loses, you lose all your money you bet. You cant bet on your opponent or yourself.
Before each round, there is a list of all classes in the game, which make you faster or stronger etc, and you get to choose which ones to remove for this game, then you get a random choose of 3 classes to use for the rest of the game.

I am a russian dev that makes a lot of Minecraft-related stuff and We have a lot more of these illegal cracked servers, they're literally everywhere. The most terrible thing about this is that they're not only breaking the EULA, but sometimes even the law (taxes-related laws at most). In most cases the community is pretty toxic and almost every server tries to get as much money from players (mostly children) as possible: paid unbans isn't really the worst case here.
Every competitive server (and especially "griefs", "anarchies") will offer the overpowered kits. Sometimes You can buy even "staff member" role and distinct ban / mute / kick permissions.
99 % of the software specially coded for these servers is actually a pretty bad code that was probably poorly written by some "studio" for lots of money. And You basically can't run any server without players that instantly will try to hack Your server.
There is no word "copyright" here, If something exist then It will be leaked sooner or later just because someone can and have nothing to do.
Of course Ru-Mine ("Russian language-speaking Minecraft" community segment) have cool servers with nice atmosphere, but they are exceptions rather than the rules. And yeah, there are pros and cons, so this comment only speaks about cons.

е. в долларах)?

Servers in certain countries wouldn't have players if they only allowed genuine players to join (players who bought the game). One of such prime example is Czech Republic (or Czechia) - local servers pretty much have to allow cracked players to join, otherwise our servers would struggle real hard. Remember, running the server isn't cheap, and many servers rely on players and their financial support. Most of the players are kids that don't really have money to buy the game, so they pirate it. Or, despite having motivation in form of a parent promising to "buy the game in exchange for good grades", the kid struggles in school, so no luck. And without the ability to buy it themselves, the only option is to pirate it. And yeah, most adults who play the game did actually pay for the game and have a genuine account. But realistically speaking, not many adults play on servers, most of us play single player worlds, or we play with friends on some private SMPs. Very few adults play on open servers. So majority of players that servers have are kids, which mostly play cracked. If every single cracked server was indefinitely blocked by Mojang, then servers in those certain countries would cease to exist. Altogether. No, it doesn't mean that only cracked servers would cease to exist, or that cracked servers would simply re-open as genuine only. Opening server as genuine only would simply mean you won't have players, so it's pointless to open one. And if the cracked servers are banned, it would mean running a server wouldn't be possible. Or more specifically, it wouldn't be economically viable.

Twink is the commonplace term for boosted alt-accounts in Russian. No idea why or how, but yeah if you're fighting someone (for example, in MMO) who's your level but whose gear is waaaay too strong for a normal player that level, that means you're fighting a twink.

i can assure you in the german speaking minecraft community, we use alt account like the english speaking community. i think the reason that other communities use these rather exotic terms is that german communites are way more into the english stuff since we have learn english in school more thorough than in other european countries. besides that and what ive seen on social media way more people travel in our countries than the other european countries.

      They are very different terms.
A twink account is an account that puts in no effort themselves and just gets high-level gear from stronger players.
A smurf is someone who keeps themselves purposely low-ranked to get easy kills on less skilled players.

@@DrDoompenguin Not necessarily. Back when I played Blade and Soul regularly I had 2 primary characters, and a smurf character that doesn't fit either of those definitions. It was one that I hopped on from time to time to do pvp and boss raids with people who were highly skilled, and often times the mvp.
In all cases it's still technically just an alt account, i'm just surprised that twink is a term used like this.

The ones who had cracked eventually bought Minecraft because they grew up and could afford the game now for real.

As someone who only just recently bought premium Minecraft out of pocket after playing it for 7+ years, when I wanted to start playing bedwars, skywars etc, playing on Jartex was a huge thing for me. And because it was somewhat accurate to Hypixel gamemodes (mainly bedwars and skywars) with (from my knowledge correct me if I'm wrong) some uniquely made maps just for Jartex. Now since I bought Minecraft, I haven't actually had time to play much, I only played Hypixel once, so I won't exactly be returning to Jartex. But I still have respect for it, even if it's against EULA, because it gave so much fun for many people. Yes there are the pay to win ranks and whatnot, but as a casual player, I never cared. Nor even the fact that they were copy pasted maps.

i dont really care that people play cracked copies of the game or even run cracked servers, pirating the game is how i got into it as it was what Notch said to do if you wanted to try it before buying it. also i understand that some people's families just don't have disposable income, so cracked versions of the game might be some kid's actual only way to play it. monetizing one of these servers on the other hand is a bit egregious tho, especially considering so much of their back ends are just outright stolen. great videos lately, really enjoy the deep dives into lesser talked about mc topics

Also used as a verb to describe the act of giving low-level characters powerful items uncommon at their level.

Im pretty sure mojang cant ban those. At least for non-official clients. They only have 2 ways of banning a server: having a blacklist sent to all clients or disallowing server to authorize people in online mode.
Such servers are running in offline modes (so second option wont work), and spoiler: thats what they actually use. So when online set to false, they just completely lose control over it
