I do not drive around checking out thrift stores, but I used to hit the camera swap meets held locally several times a year, and a few hock-shops when really bored. Rather than go in to the store dependent on the store providing batteries to determine whether a camera functions properly, I used to keep a kit of batteries in a couple of little ziplock baggies: 2-AA, 2-4-AAA, 1-123A, and 2-44L(?) button cells. This will cost about $10 to assemble and will power 99% of all cameras, flashes, and light meters you will run into, whether that are $10 P-n-S or a Nikon F3. If you go into a store, thrift store, camera store or whatever, if they sell used cameras, and they say they do not have batteries to let you test the camera, it's more than 50% certain that the camera is broken, and the store knows it.
The first supervisor was so polite bro, need more people like her
Got my hands on the AF2 for $40 with the original case and even a Close-up +1 lens filter the other day, it's such a fun camera.
The flash actually works on it and I think the non-motorized version just makes it more reliable since there's less that could break on it.
Really glad I found this, it's just nice addition to my Minolta collection, and it being a point n shoot with its amazing sharp lens makes it perfect for quick street shots or even parties with its powerful flash and auto-focus
man, you got my heart thumping in the beginning. I feel like Ninjas were going to come out and attack you for the camera. wphew! LOL
i just thrifted this same camera in perfect working condition in seattle for $7! it’s been awesome, so cool to see you grab one too
Would you mind sharing a few thrift stores in the Seattle area? I've been hunting around, but haven't had any luck. Thanks!
haha me to a week ago for 20 bugs but im from switzerland so the deal is verY GOOD
Where in Seattle, if you dont mind me asking?
@@rudebwoyshon judging from the replies nobody wants to blow up their thrift spots 😂
@@tylerp3327 haha I thought it was just me.
One of the first things I do when I get a used camera is remove the neck strap and wash it in a plastic pot with some dishwashing liquid.
I also use plenty of cotton swabs to clean every little corner of the camera.
I love these thrifting videos ☺️ 📸
Wild. I just bought an AF2 today. Had one a few years ago that died recently. Great little camera with a nice lens. Glad to have one back in my set...
Found the Pentax IQ Zoom in the $3 grab bin. Such nice glass! Super fun to walk around with.
Just sold all my digital cameras ! Never thought that would happen. Fujifilm xt-20 and best lenses. Good price for 4 year old gear. Started with a wonderful canon Ae-1
Beautiful camera! Hope we get to shoot together some time mate! 👊
That would make for an awesome video! 📷👍
It would ne an awesome!
Yes please! I'd love to see it
Yes
nice find - I buy lots of used cameras - be careful with cleaning products - they often contain bleach. Best thing to use is Isopropyl - sometimes called rubbing alcohol - available in chemist shops. Cotton buds are awesome !
Love all your camera thrifting video. So exciting to see what you find.
fuck yeah bro! been waiting for these to come back. Mahalos!
bro no cap you were original YT years ago with them thrift vlogs. like i watched willem after you....
Hello mate. What you use to record the video while walking? Any clip in the back pack or something? Strap on the neck?
I've had two AF2's, luckily the flash works on both. I keep one loaded with HP5+. Some of my favorite pictures are with it.
I have the AF2 and it's my daily carry. Lovely camera, easy to use, light, and that lens is *sharp*.
Came to this channel for thrifting video, stayed for the rest. Nice to see another round of thrift :-)
The intro looks bad ass bro amazing work my boy
I have the hi Matic af 2 and it is such a killer ass camera and easy to use. One of the best so reliable!!!!
Found the AF-2 at my local for $10 with the case and lens cap. Luckily people in my city haven’t caught on to film cameras so they generally remain cheap and frequent. Can’t wait to see how the photos come out 🔥🔥
I love this line of cameras , I have the AF and AF2 the motor version is too noisy.
AF2 loves HP5 , awesome lense
I want one so bad but still haven’t came up. Miami is one tough cookie! Anyways I love your video thank you for all the information and tips you have shared!!
It is a really good camera, picture quality is better than expected. The flash could be just contact issue on that switch, easy fix.
It's my favorite film point and shoot. I've self published a few books shot with it.
Picked one of these up at a thrift store for 20 bucks a while back, haven't developed anything out of it yet but definitely looking forward to it
Do you thrift SLRs? Any tips on how to thrift for them?
recently got the newer nikon equivalent of this, the Nikon AF3! all these type of bulkier point and shoots are so underrated. just as good as a mju imo!
I used to see yashica t2 and t3 cameras in LA sometimes, but i have been striking out since the pandemic. In fact I just kinda gave up and paid the fee to have my 1998 FM2n cleaned and tested so I can use it as a change of pace setup for casual shoots along with my D850.
The thrift Gods are always giving you the best items!
Last Saturday I found one for 3$ but it had bad batteries from 2012 which I barely removed.. cleaned it afterwards and everything works very smooth! Looks like a really nice quality camera!!
It would be dope if you tried doing a professional model shoot with various cameras, maybe some vintage lighting gear? Some 90's style thing and compare the different results from them on some portra film maybe? Cheers man.
I think Portraits on this would be real nice! I just thrifted a Konica MG/D and unfortunately didn’t bring batteries. I think it still works but I’ll use new batteries to be sure. Still only paid $5 tho so no complaints
Great video!!! Found a Nikon Action Touch (basically L35AW) for $3.00. Took it home, shot the roll of film that came with it (expired Kodak 200 from who knows when) and developed it. Great camera and very very clean! A gem! As far as your Minolta AF2-M, excellent find bro!
I used to own this camera, but didn't fall in love with it when I shot a roll through it (ultramax 400). The photos came in underexposed. Had the same flash issue, similar to your copy of the AF2. Try shooting a roll of film with a higher iso, that would help you out with your photos exposure.
Man I wouldn’t even mind if you started making thrift clothing videos too now that I think if it
Awesome find, I have the Nikon L35 AF ☺️ love it! I would love to see portraits done with your find.
need an L35AF 😩 if you ever want to sell or trade, i have some stuff! 🤞🏼
love that camera, i always get compliments when i wear this out. i have both this and the minolta talker :-)
Sick find dude! I would definitely love to see some street photography with that camera
Dope find!
Just found a canon elan 2 with kit zoom lens, original strap and lesther case for $10 😎
Nice find! I’d love to see this beauty in action where it shines best! I’m going with street! 😉
In the early days of digital, it was the golden age of thrifting film camera. Many people thought film was dead and eventually would not be made anymore. Bins were filled with all matter of point and shoots and the occasional SLR. There were so many, I passed on many that have become cult classics, and they were only a few bucks. I have stopped looking because the pickings have become so slim.
Same with computer stuff, everyone was throwing out their computers and other electronics fearing the Y2K Bug and it died down after 2005 when thrift stores started getting "smart" and were posting all the good stuff on eBay.
I would like to see a video about environmental portraits with that thing!
recently got this camera and it keeps getting stuck and beeping. have you had the same issue with this?
Ahh, looks like such a great camera! None of the thrift stores I’ve been to near me have any cameras. C’mon Dallas 🙄
For real...Dallas is all tapped out lol
Feel ya.All of dfw is dead. Seeing these videos kill me. lol.
@@wesleylo4777 Okay I’m glad it’s not just me here that’s struggling here 😂 because I’ve been wanting to make similar videos like this lol
@@thenickbw You and me both! I did go to an antique mall though & they had a lot of vintage cameras. I might have to go back and check it out again
Thrifted one myself a while back for $4 love shooting with it
im using this film camera. using like 2 years or almost 3 years i think. its amazing but now the shutter button itself stucked. i don't know why. maybe I'm using it like past 2 or 3 month ago without taking out the film (BCS the roll not finished yet) and battery.
Shoot some black and white portraits with that bad boy!!! :)
Coworker gifted me this camera bought from Japan! And that’s when my film photography journey began….
looks like beautiful condition man!! thanks for sharing!
Nice find big bro 👌
It's very rare I find cameras in our local thrift stores, it's been a while. Cool looking camera though.
Dude If you ever visit Japan please check out their thrift store Omg they so much stuff especially the cameras they A LOT of film cameras.
I love my AF-2 but sadly the flash doesn't work on mine either. Seems to be a common problem
Dam bro, I’m always scared to put my eye near the viewfinder because I’m afraid of getting pink eye . Dope pickup though!
Would love to see street photography with this camera!
Where is this thrift ship located? I'm in The bay area.
bruh that's crazy, I knew just from the thumbnail which store you were at.
what store?
You should get a chinon CX there a company owned by Kodak nowadays
Found a AF2 here in Japan, sadly it doesn’t work and was heavily corroded
Portraits pls 🙏. That would be cool 😎
we made it boyz! #minoltagang
King jvpes spittin game at the thrift store tho
Jackpot tol!
Dope. That camera needs to do some street photography
Where do you thrift bro??
do some street & architecture photography with this camera.
hey!! youre based in the bay right? which thrift stores u be going to?
Got more vids on this camera?
I would go thrifting but I live in the Bay Area too so you've probably gone through all the stores already lol
I got it for 5$ dollar at thrift store plus ot have leather strap and bag too the condition was like new
Dude has the nicest thrift store in the US lol
I thrifted a T70 yesterday with a macro lens for $45🎉
Man i thrifted this exact camera for 2 $ in mint condition, but after developing my first test roll the AF didnt work :/
I had a nice one of these my Dad picked up thrifting ...for a dollar. I sold it and have regretted it ever since
After 7 minutes we finally get to see the camera.....
My biggest camera thrift was a Polaroid Land Camera SX70. Paid $50 for it sold it for $275. I truly enjoy thrifting for film cameras.
Street Photography POV
Buy the rip offs! They are still cameras that can make images! Not if they are over priced though. But the more cameras in circulation, less in the landfill, the better.
Damn, how you flirting with the thrift clerks everytime
Found a canon af35m2 and a fd 28mm lens for 10$ each today
I never find any film camera when I thrift 🤣
I got one of these for $30 last month
Let’s be real… it’s pretty much impossible now a days to find quality film cameras at thrift stores.
I am so early
me too
Shout out eco thrift
30 bucks???
The non motor version is much better , that motor will die 100% then the camera is dead
Hey i recently thrusted two cameras and i sent you a insta dm asking for help. If you have the time to respond that would mean the world
