I truly feel sorry for those children that never woke up to a Christmas morning with a Tonka toy...imagination and fun. What you do is not only restoration, but art. Thank You for bringing back wonderful memories Sir!
Thank you for your kind thoughts about my deprived childhood. Luckily, I lived near to a rubbish dump, a mere half-hour walk away. There we found old wind-up Gramophone players, radios, scientific equipment, telephone generators and suchlike, which we pulled to bits and renovated to make whatever we could imagine. We also found smouldering fires lit by the Council, and had marvellous fun throwing broken sheets of asbestos building materials on the fires to make them explode. The resulting clouds of particles were the shrapnel pieces of our imaginary hand grenades. Now 78 years later I still don't have _asbestosis_ but I can't vouch for my fellow companions. It was a marvellous childhood. But being deprived of *Tonka Toys* did take its toll, but luckily we were able to compensate somewhat by buying *Matchbox Toys* instead.
It is so satisfying to see how quickly the sandblasting removes decades of rust, dirt, grime, paint and neglect. The restoration processes you go through are always fascinating.
Yep. For some reason the surface rust bleeds out through the paint bad enough to make it look like solid rust but you can see the paint is still there when blasting.
I've seen a lot of rust and corroding. It's as real as the rusted shit i find in my yard and in the ground. If the truck was painted, the stickers would be rusty and underneath the stickers wouldn't be rusted.
The sandblasting process fills any rust or corrosion pits if they aren't completely rusted though, (both sides have rust and complete holes, metal is brittle there.)
Beautiful restoration. I am the original owner of the Tonka set. Fire Engine, Aerial Truck, Rescue Squad 1954-55. The vehicles are in better shape (stored inside) not as much rust. I want to restore them, but not sure if I want to paint with powder coat or oil based paint. Thanks for a video. Nice way to start the day 🌞☕
Your niece is a future crafter-machinist! And your kitty is a very good helper. The ambulance looks fantastic. I can't express how satisfying it is to see someone's formerly beloved toy receive such care and attention.
Thank you for breathing life into these wonderful old toys, you know you made an impact when every rusted metal toy at the flea market went from $10 to $50
I want to thank you for saving these toys from the past. Your attention to detail on each one you have brought back to life amazes me. Restoring these toys is an art form and I enjoy watching how it is done by an expert. As a child I remember having and seeing some that you have restored in toy stores in the 40s and 50s. Again, thank you so much for sharing your videos with us. Each toy you restore I hope would be put into a museum so that future generations of children could see the toys their great granddads played with as a child.
I think it's the cutest thing when he brings in a lovely tow truck and tows a pitiful piece to the shop to be restored. The whole process fascinates me. It's my favorite restoration channel.
Thanks for not making a music video. I just saw another YT restoration channel but it was full of loud music. I love being able to hear the raw sound just as if I were standing beside you as you work.
@@ChipChannelRestorations I know that this a small ambulance. But the ambulances that we see today, had bigger cabs, so they can carry medical gear, devices, items like blood packs, syringes, sleeping gas, and shock pads. And speaking of blood packs, there's another variation of the ambulance called a Bloodmobile, they're meant to deliver packs of human blood to hospital to hospital. And another version of a Bloodmobile is a bus type. A bus type Bloodmobile can carry more packs of human blood than the ambulance.
I can never watch these videos all the way through. I always manage to fall asleep when it gets to the sandblasting part. Even when I'm not tired I still fall asleep watching these.
I’m not sure what it is about these videos but I find them fascinating very relaxing. The work that is put into restoring these toys is something else. ❤
I do not remember this model from my childhood. I would have loved it: opening doors, red light and pretend siren, & Civil Defense emblem. I really enjoyed the fly over of restored fleet. Thank you!
Therapy, therapy, therapy! So satisfying to see the metal appear from under the rust and paint! And these models are worth something when 'chip channel' has refurbed them!
It's sort of interesting that just after you restored this vehicle - all the cat wanted to do was chew the top light off. I enjoyed watching this. Thank you.
Just saw the video. Fantastic Restoration. Have to figure out how to make my blasting cabinet work as proficiently as yours. On putting on vinyl decals, A drop of soap and some water sprayed before applying the decals. Lets you move them, to position them. Squeegee out the air bubbles and water. and they stay in place. Might make it a little easier to apply.
OMG! MONSTER CLAUSE AND SUPER SHEEP! The restoration job was AMAZING as we all expect from the magician that is Chip Channel, but WOW. And LOVE the new sheep characters. And of course, ALL HAIL CYCLOPEEP! Thank you for again making my Monday worth getting up for!
Fabulous restoration! Love watching your video while you work on old truck 🚚 and paint bright color that looks great! Less talking is much better 👌 you re doing very well and very talented too!
Великолепная работа! Прекрасная модель спасательной медицинской машины! Счастливые дети, играющие в детстве с такими машинками! Спасибо огромное, Chip, за доставленную радость! ✨❄️🎄

😊
This was so relaxing for me. I lost my dad to cancer a couple weeks ago and he loved to do stuff like this. Gave me a bit of peace watching this
& I also now know that, this was an old iron toy ambulance. 🚑 😳
) ppp
Prayers for you and the family.
RIP
So sorry for your loss.
It always amazes me how good the quality of the metal is when the trucks are beadblasted. It looks in almost perfect condition.
Yep. For some reason the surface rust bleeds out through the paint bad enough to make it look like solid rust but you can see the paint is still there when blasting.
Yes, no rust…. just dirt, that looks like it has been painted on
I agree it seems like it wasn't really rusted, it was just painted like that and a little dinged up to make it look like it was old.

Anyone else find these videos to be therapeutic? Excellent video quality.

Why is it so satisfying watching the sand blasting?

This vehicle is somewhat a combination of a Volkswagen Bus and a Ford pickup truck with a cab.
