I just made a bad automotive decision. I bought a salvage 1999 mustang GT that whoever had it before me had NOS hooked up and it has all kinds of mods. Wasn't able to start it as someone removed the fuel pressure sensor. But someone put on BBK cold air induction and a BBK throttle body. It seems to have a lot of upgrades. I've wanted a 355 since I was a child and have loved Ferraris since I could distinguish shapes and colors. I do not regret buying one at all, service costs be damned. These are big boy toys; you got to pay to play. Sure there are times that I have questioned if it was a sane idea to so but I'd question my sanity if I didn't. It looks like it was designed by Michaelangelo himself, the sound prickles the hair on any mortals neck, and driving it is an ecstasy that reverberates through every cell in your body. Even thinking about it makes my heart beat faster. You can't take it with you and it sure makes you feel alive.

That is so true. To be honest, I have never even turned my radio on- I don't even know if it works? One time I went to turn it on while out on a drive and a feeling of stupidity came over me. It is worth noting that initially, they did not come with a radio at all. They had wiring and speakers, but no actual radio. They got it right from the beginning.
I THINK HE should have kept the NSX. Some day, those first generation NSXs are going to be harder to find and get than a lot of "exotic" supercars. Look at your Toyota 2000GT for example...

One of the F-355’s biggest “quirks” is that, every 5 years or so, you have to *remove the entire engine* as a *normal* maintenance item! It’s stupidly idiotic.

My buddy has a 355 that had a similar problem to the one Rob described. It ended up being a split coolant hose on the top of the motor by the firewall, a small rubber 90 degree piece. Ricambi wanted a little over $100 for the OEM replacement. We took the split one down to the parts store and found a hose with an identical section in it, chopped it up and it's been there for over 5 years issue free.
You just bought the last of the "drop the engine out to do ANYTHING to it" model Ferrari's. Great choice ! I looked at a mint red manual 355 before my last vehicle purchase, did the long term mental math, and said "No way!" Best of luck!
I already had a potential money pit in a '13 F10 M5, so decided to go with some more reliable American muscle. Found a '13 Corvette 427 convertible and absolutely love it. May slap a supercharger on it this Summer. Before settling on the Vette I had a '04 Porsche 911 Turbo (X50) in my sights, but the deal fell through. Shame, too - the Porsche was exquisite, and definitely more reliable (and a lot quicker) than the Ferrari.

Hate to piss on your fun but radiator hoses don't just go pop for no reason. There had to be an immense amount of pressure in the cooling system to blow a rubber hose or radiator and my money is on a cracked head or even worse.
