snajperSLO people dont buy rolexes for the price. they buy them because they last basically your whole life and have history behind them. my rolex is nearly 40 years old, my father bought it in the 70s and passed it on to me.
It looks quite different from a Daytona, only the dial alignment matches so I personally wouldn't call it a tribute. Also the fact that subdials are unreadable yet it has a Chronograph movement is something I personally find quite stupid, I like if the watch actually can function for what it's made. And yeah the movements are also subpar for what you pay, your older watches are much better :)
Best watch you have is the Rolex GMT Master. Have it serviced, never let it go, and give it to your kids (if ya ever have any) or else be buried with it. 2nd best is the Breitling. Other than that, junk the rest, including the free MVMT which is nothing more than a Movado wanna-be.
Exactly, cheap plastic chinese quartz movements. All kids care about now a days is if it looks cool, they don't give a damn about quality. What they dont realize is it costs about 1$ to build one of those MVMT watches, then they charge you 200+$. For the price you could get a mechanical seiko which is far superior.
I think they have Japanese Miyota movements in them, but yeah, they're junk. I've found all their models on Alibaba for less than $10/unit, and as little as $3/unit.

Exactly, the good thing is you can find affordable good quality watches but they wont be sponsoring youtubers. Seiko and others make excellent mechanical watches, and what I like about mechanical watches is you actually get what you are paying for and not spending over 200$ on a plastic quartz movement thats probably made in China.
The last watch I wore and owned was a Swatch probably in the late 80s or early 90s. I have been tempted to get an Apple Watch but haven’t yet. I’d like a ridiculously expensive Rolex but I don’t see me ever being in a place where there’s not other stuff I want more, like a car or bike.

I enjoy his taste in cars, and I've owned two of the cars he owns in the past.
My issue is that if someone is comparing apples and oranges, then put it on fair ground and use your own common sense. Don't tell people you can flex a $12,000 quality watch and then put up something without the pedigree but hope that people will say, "well dude has a Rolly and he thinks this is good for $200 so I should buy one right now!"
No matter what people show you, you can't know the situation or how many dollars they owe on it. Hence my comment, the high-end watch collection doesn't support the house it's stored in. Use your common sense.
My own personal thing is to put my cash where I enjoy it. I'm not gonna run out and spend a bunch of money on some stuff that people will look at me and say "oh wow, look at that guy.."
Don't buy into the sxxt people tell you to buy, it's furthering someone else's gains and not yours.

Exactly, the good thing is you can find affordable good quality watches but they wont be sponsoring youtubers. Seiko and others make excellent mechanical watches, and what I like about mechanical watches is you actually get what you are paying for and not spending over 200$ on a plastic quartz movement thats probably made in China.

The last watch I wore and owned was a Swatch probably in the late 80s or early 90s. I have been tempted to get an Apple Watch but haven’t yet. I’d like a ridiculously expensive Rolex but I don’t see me ever being in a place where there’s not other stuff I want more, like a car or bike.
