    *UPDATE*
    I'm not sure if this is an isolated issue or not, but the RGB LEDs on keys H, B, and Space are malfunctioning now. They stay lit up with a yellow-ish tint when they're supposed to be on OFF state/inactive. They still produce the correct colors when they're supposed to, though. Also, the RGB LED on the right arrow key is not lighting up anymore. lol.
    I might need to do some re-soldering on the affected LEDs to see if that would fix the issue, but I already have some replacement SMD LEDs on hand, just in case.
    *UPDATE 2*
    Upon telling Keychron what happened last August 9, they sent me another replacement PCB, and I just received it earlier. [August 23]
    To my surprise, aside from the main PCB [the big one], the small PCB [for USB and modes switches] was also included.
    Thanks, Keychron!

    It's been more than a year since I've purchased this keyboard, and now the battery is acting up. It only lasts for about a few hours now (approximately, 6-8, maybe). It's ok tho, since 3rd-party batteries can be purchased and it's easily replaceable.

    *CORRECTION:*
    As mentioned on a comment and on the website, this keyboard has an *STM32L432* ARM Cortex MCU on it.
    Contrary to what was mentioned on (7:10), the *CYW20730* is not a 2-in-1 microcontroller (MCU) and Bluetooth Module, but is only a standalone baseband processor (Bluetooth Module) as said on its datasheet.
    I failed to mention the ARM Cortex MCU, because the IC on the board is labelled differently, and I assumed that it was a different IC.
    It was a huge lack of oversight on my part, so I apologize for the wrong information and late correction.
    Thanks again to @ailuros_ for mentioning it, which made me check the board again.

    Hi, on the Keychron website, the black full assembled with white backlight has black keys whereas with the white b backlight, it becomes black plus the lovely grey keys. However , it is the other way around when it comes to RGB. The RGB comes with black and grey keys whereas the RGB B has all black keys. Intuitively, the RGB method makes sense but i thought i will ping here and ask

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  4 месяца назад

      I think the one that has all black keys is the Fully Assembled (Non Hot-Swappable) one.

    There is reading of 4340 mAh at timeline 11:02. The keyboard battery is rated 4000 mAh. The mAh measurement unit is very misleading. What they do not tell you is at what voltage it is 4000 mAh. Usually they consider voltage of 3.7V. So it is 3.7V * 4 Ah = 14.8 Wh. The wattmeter you are using is measuring voltage of around 5V. So by the time when it is fully recharged, it has already consumed 5V * 4.34 Ah = 21.7 Wh. Which equates to 5.86 Ah = 5864 mAh. Even when considering lower efficiencies of charging and heat loss, this difference is huge. So I guess you should consider replacing your wattmeter that shows energy consumption in Wh (Watt Hour).

    Would you recommend this keyboard for longevity? I want to buy it but I don’t want to waste money on something that will give me a lot of issues within a year

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  2 месяца назад

      Hmmm... that's a good question.
      In my opinion, in general, a wired mouse/keyboard would last longer than a wireless one. Not because the wireless ones have lesser quality components, but because they have batteries.
      Batteries can sometimes be a hit or miss, even from expensive and well-trusted brands. It depends, but in most cases, the thing that wears out first are the batteries.
      Now, I said that it depends, because it depends on how long and how frequent we use the thing that has a battery, because battery life/longevity depends on charge and discharge rate or how frequently we use it (discharge) and charge it.
      As an example, I have a JBL bluetooth headphone that I bought last 2017 that is still working just fine. I also have a JBL bluetooth earbuds that I bought last 2022, but the JBL bluetooth earbuds battery is discharging so fast now, even when compared to the headphones that I bought 5 years earlier than the earbuds.
      The main difference between the 2 devices aside from the year of purchase is I can use the JBL bluetooth earbuds more frequently than the JBL bluetooth headphones, because the headphones one hurts my ears after 2 or more hours of usage, so, the headphones one has been discharged less than the earbuds one.
      On another note, the battery on this thing can easily be replaced with a third-party one, but then again, we don't know how long the replacement would last.
      I've had some issues that I'm not sure if they are isolated or not, and you can see them on my pinned comment.

    Just got mine today and noticed that there is a light for the numlock; however, you'll only see it with the lights off. I got the white backlight and with the rest of the lights turned off the numlock light will be lit up if it's currently on.
    I still agree though they should have put one next to the other indicators.

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  Год назад +1

      Yes. I forgot to mention it. Thanks for pointing it out.
      On the RGB version, it does light up white as well. Static White if the numlock is enabled, and it would follow the effects if it's disabled.

    Hello, thanks for the review, is it possible to create several profiles and automatically activate them depending on the current active software ?

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  5 месяцев назад

      Hey there! Good question. Not sure if the Windows version of the software is different (I'm using the App Image), but on Linux, I think it's not possible (Well- doing it the normal way, atleast), atm.
      It has a "Save Profile" option, so, maybe you can save multiple profiles then just load them depending on the situation. It doesn't save anything on mine, tho. lol.
      I guess the goal of the software is to just setup macros and stuff. I mean, the main way to set stuff up is via (pun intended) a browser and not an actual software that you have to install.
      It never runs in the background and having an option that can switch between profiles requires it to run in the background.

    Does it type too fast?, like even though you don't force too much? I'm worried after you saying that because I had a Razer yellow switch and it was just crazy.. I pressed like half and the input was already registered. I'm worried if this red switch works like my previous Razer's yellow switch

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  10 месяцев назад

      For that, you might have to take a look and compare their actuation force, and I guess it would also depend on how much of the "heavy" typer you are.
      In my case, I was using a keyboard with blue switches before this, so my fingers have gotten used to typing with relatively more force, so typing on it felt really light...and now that it has been a few months, I can say that "it's just right" if that makes sense. That's subjective tho.

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  10 месяцев назад +3

      My best guess is because a lot of their keyboards have south-facing RGB LEDs. Most normal keycaps (The ones where the legends are at the top of the keycaps) won't work well with south-facing RGB LEDs, because even if the keycaps are see-through/transparent, the light that would go into the legends are not that bright, because the source is not directly below them, because they are designed for north-facing RGB LEDs.

    • @ThatDjinn
      @ThatDjinn 9 месяцев назад

      In general if you want your keycaps (not switches) to sound 'nice' you may have to sacrifice the shine-through lighting. Typical gaming keyboard keycaps that shine through brightly are made of thinner, lower quality plastic.

      @HeathenHacks  10 месяцев назад +1

      I do kind of understand why they made that choice, tho. I mean, this is a customizable keyboard, so, I guess they thought that people who would buy it would customize it? ie. change keycaps, switches, stabs, etc... and, apparently, using non-shine through keycaps on keyboards with RGB LEDs is the current trend, because people like the "underglow" effect that it gives. Idk. tho. just saw that on r/MechanicalKeyboards

      When on wired mode, you can only use wired mode. If you want to switch between more than 1 device, you have to use Bluetooth.

    very nice review (could do without the sfx though - a little annoying) - I purchased my first Keychron, K8 pro 80% - tried it for 24hrs and I missed my keypad, as I use 3D applications like Blender, Substance Painter etc - sent it back for the K10 pro.

    This can be plugged in permanently to a PC, and then we can switch between "cable" and "bluetooth" modes and even in bluetooth modes it will charge?

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  9 месяцев назад

      I believe so, but, for the battery's safety, I'd remove the battery's connection on the PCB, since you won't be needing the battery if you're going to plug it in to the PC permanently anyway. It would still work even on bluetooth mode or cable mode even without a battery as long as it is plugged in.

    Hey, great review! Do you know what is the difference between this (K10 Pro) and the first K10?

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  9 месяцев назад

      The main difference between the 2 that I can think of is that the K10 is wired, and has an aluminum back cover available, which the K10 Pro does not have, atm.

    what exactly is the point of having RGB with solid keycaps. that completely defeats the purpose of having RGB in the first place. so instead of including shine through keycaps I am expected to purchase the keyboard, scrap the keycaps, buy new keycaps and install those. just to actually make use of the backlight? lame... this is a HUGE flaw in the current setup. I simply do not understand this decision.

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  Год назад +1

      Honestly, I have the same thoughts. However, I guess Keychron is just following the current trend. I think a lot of people like having opaque keycaps because they are stronger/more durable, and they like the "underglow" effect that the RGB LEDs give to their opaque keycaps. At least, that seems to be the consensus as of the moment.
      The RGB LEDs being south-facing is also a trend on custom keyboards for better compatibility with switches, according to what I've read.

    Best k10 pro review out there and one of the bests keychron reviews. One note: K10 PRO is supposed to be equipped with Cortex-M4 32-bit STM32L432 (MCU) or am I wrong? I wonder why your K10 has a different microcontroller (6:44)?

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  8 месяцев назад

      Now that you mentioned it, I saw that on the website, too, and was confused as to why I can't find the IC with the "STM32L432" on it, and just assumed that the info was wrong/not updated. But, after you pointed it out, I checked again and found that it is indeed on the board, but with "L432K86" label, and literally just 1-2 inches beside the CYW20730.
      Welp. That's a huge lack of oversight on my part. I apologize.

    1. Key caps with up facing shine through letters is not recommended?
    2. Is it possible to assign media keys including mute withou pressing the fn key?

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  10 месяцев назад +1

      1. Yes. Because the RGB LEDs are south-facing, therefore the legends on the keycaps would not be as bright, because the LEDs are not exactly below them.
      2. Yes. Using macros/hotkeys.

      @@HeathenHacks1. Do you recommend using all black keycaps with white letters for k10 pro or its not a good idea since there won't be two colors caps to distinct between the different areas of the keyboard and the letters are not shine through and all this will not be good in a dark room?
      2. Can you 100% use this keyboard in the dark as is?

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  10 месяцев назад +2

      1. At the moment, I am using a 96.30% (Still using 4 keycaps from the OG set) all black keycaps with white letters. They are shine through as well, but they are side-lit keycaps. (The ones where the legends/letters are at the bottom/south side of the keycaps) You can try those as a compromise if you want. Just search for it using the search engine you prefer. Can't share links on YT,
      As for if I would recommend an all-black and non-shine through keycaps set, I'm going to be biased and say no, because I like RGB.
      2. I can. Yes. But, only because I can still type quite coherently even if my eyes are closed.

      Hello, and thanks for the comment! I've read somewhere that Keychron is quite slow on updating/submitting their lists to VIA. Not so sure about that, tho. That's just what I've read online.
      In my case, as I've said on the video, since I'm using Linux, I've downloaded the AppImage version of VIA first, and was quite surprised how it worked right away. After that, when I tried the website on a Chromium browser, it worked there as well and have no idea why. lol.
